It's less to do with the animation and more to do with the voices they hire, the music, the larger teams of people they hire for animation and everything else, and because Fox is more than willing to give them a huge budget given how it's a flagship series for them.
They cut a lot of corners by actually participating in animating the show, coordinating the process themselves, and got a lot of help from talented people like HP.
It's better without a second season, as it ended while it was still good. Eventually, gen alpha will rediscover this 1 season show and run it into the ground with tiktok clips, and then there'll be a soulless second season produced, with less charm, wit, and humor than before.

They were gonna do it but Cartoon Network didn't want to bring in too many one-liner cameos plus they knew that Chris wouldn't be able to do the voiceline without immediately telling everyone and violating any NDA that might be required

The animation of Aqua teen is a lot last, fluid I guess, compared to Smiling friends. Basically the characters in SM move around and change facial expressions a lot more frequently then in Aqua Teen, which is fine Aqua teen's a lot more about the writing and dialogue compared to Smiling friends being more slapstick
I actually forgot about YOLO. When did season 2 come out? January? I guess that's fair then. Adult Swim better cancel that shit asap and give us more Kino Friends.
