In the book, the guy getting his dick sucked is a richgay who owns the hotel. The guy in the bear suit is a gay who is obsessed with him, so the richgay makes him wear the suit and act like a dog around guests as a humiliation ritual.
>I saw a convincing YouTube vid on it
You saw Rob Ager's video. Danny and the Bear Costumed Man. Rob is better at finding symbolism than he is at interpreting it. Everything in the Boulder bedroom scene points towards Wendy as the abuser.
She's in the tub when Danny is "brushing his teeth" but the sound of the water is wrong. It's the splashing sound from the lady in the tub in room 237, and after his blackout, the rubber duck that was in the tub is now on the sill of the window in Danny's room that's too tall to reach.
I've made a few (on symbolism in general, not the bear). I posted a link to one that I'm working on now up above. It will eventually reveal what the bear means and where it comes from.

The "duck" and the bear are both Wizard of Oz references. The bear and the tiger are the dangers of the forest Dorothy has to cross to get to EmCity. Tony in the film is actually Tony the Tiger. Theyyy're Great!! sounds like Heeere's Johnny!!, and that's a motif in the film - things that sound alike like REDRUM and REDROOM - like the Colorado (color red) room or the red bathroom in the film.
When Danny has his second "shine" check out who's between him and all of the Frosted Flakes boxes in the Store(y) room.
The duck think comes from the book. Watson tells Jack he has to move the "ducks" - he means the ducts for the furnace. They're tagged with colors that match up to the Wizard of Oz.
And if you notice in the film, during the tour there are a couple of places where the four characters walk like ducks in a single file line (or like the Beatles crossing Abbey Road). A duck walk with Watson bringing up the rear.

That's the story. Kubrick also told his daughter he hated The Wizard of Oz (but uses its symbols in nine of his films). Artists and magicians have no problems lying to the public to preserve their secrets.

This. I think most of it is a sheer ego thing. It's why I don't believe for a second that Pepe Silvia was just some name someone randomly came up with on iasip.
>Kubrick changed it to a bear to represent Jack molesting Danny
So tired of this stupid ass fan theory. There's nothing in the movie that seriously implies he was molesting his son. Jack gives off murderous vibes to Danny through the whole movie not rapes vibes
reminder: movies don't have symbolism. it's a made up thing that pseuds use to make watching "films" seem like some sort of dignified hobby. movies are to be taken at face value. the guy in the suit is a gay guy sucking another dudes dick. that's it
It's a chewbacca reference. the idea that Star Wars had irreparably molested cinema.

Jack didn't molest Danny. Who is in the room with Danny when he's laying on the bear blanket? Not Jack.
I dunno anon, but I saw a convincing YouTube vid on it

So who moved the duck?
Make a vid on it, I'm intrigued

We dont take kindly to that blame the mother bullshit over here, partner.

Fanfiction at best

It's not a Chewbacca reference, lol.
If you think that's weird, look at this:

Also, yes.
Things existed before you did. They didn't just happen because you discovered them.
It isn't a bear. It's a dog suit. It has a fricking bull dog mouth. It's the dog suit guy degenerate from the book. Your fan theories are moronic.
>fricking bull dog mouth
You're familiar with fricking bull dog mouths? I'm not sure if that's brave or stupid.
Anyone who's seen classic Tom And Jerry, Looney Tunes or Pluto cartoons is familiar with a bulldog's mouth.
