Which is hilarious in the context of the book. America Chavez is a super hero who can teleport anywhere in the universe at any time. Distance means nothing to her. So it doesn't matter where her gf lives, she can see her at any time.

The main reason Im asking is because ive been thinking about writing a book where my self insert is, while technically being the most powerful person in the setting, utterly repulsive, a horrible human being, hated by everyone and depressed all the time because he knows hes in a book. Of course, i wouldnt make "him" the protagonist as that would be boring, more like a very interesting side character.
