They are different worlds. Just enjoy them. I never understood these comparisons - like Star Wars vs Star Trek. They are as different as Citizen Kane and Indiana Jones. I like them both. Each show will have supes with powers that fit their story narrative and world building. IMHO, that is.

I like both shows but to me TUA is better. I relate a lot with their characters and I like the style of the show, the story, their unique powers, dark humor, characters’ development. The boys is a good show though. But I love Umbrella Academy a lot more.

Umbrella Academy manages to take edgy concepts and turn them into fun. It's highly styalized, which helps ease the tension, and maintain a light air. You end up laughing at the edgy stuff, rather than being forced to take it seriously.

For me there has to be at least one character I like and that wasn't the case with the boys. One episode of the boys felt like 3 hours for me, I didn't have that at TUA. The characters at umbrella academy have so much heart and can make you laugh or cry. I found almost every character annoying in the boys. You can't compare the umbrella academy and the boys, they are just too different

I liked the umbrella academy season one it felt fresh and had charm while the boys s1 was just edgy cynical gore and rape
then I rewatched the boys s1 A year later and realized it was better than I thought, the mystery, the pacing, everything was very well written, no filler, and the cast and acting were perfect.
umbrella academy season 2 came out and I realized they were just throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks and were constantly writing scenes for Twitter people to make .gifs out of and there was like a dance scene and pop music song every other episode and the season dragged a lot.
Even though the boys s2 wasnt great either, I've done a complete 180, the boys is the best show currently running right now and I only really watched the umbrella academy s3 because I needed something to watch while waiting for the next episode of the boys.
UA felt very boring and filler-ridden, seemed a lot cooler before actually watching it
The Boys seemed very "durr what if superheroes were actually bad" but then i gave it a chance and thought it was really good
UA has so much potential that bad writing and some bad acting has absolutely fricked up. Things just happen on this fricking shit show with little to no set up or payoff. It's worth nothing to watch past the first season, and even then there's a lot of time wasted on plot threads that go nowhere and poor casting decisions.

Umbrella academy, by season 2, it was HELL for me
I know 5 looks like a dick. He is a dick. But noone took him seriously in season 1. And he was right trough and trough, the motherfricker was RIGHT he did travel in time and he did know what was going to happen.

Third season? Almost the same. Everyone is so disconnected of 5 that the plot for 3/4 of the season was "let's get the suitcase!", for 2/4 of the seasons doing so after the audience found out the suitcases do nothing anymore.
