Probably Star Wars or Doctor Who.
RoboCop or LOTR are the least ruined. RoboCop had one (1) mediocre remake and LOTR only has a couple of shitty spinoffs, but nothing that really affected the original trilogy.

      Anonymous

      >mediocre
That's a good point too, for a lot of these franchises "going bad" just meant making movies that weren't good, or lackluster attempts at rage marketing that they gave up on after one installment.
Trek, Wars, and Who all seem to have become actively malevolent towards their fans in a way that doesn't seem to stop.
      I'm

I'm not sure if it's Doctor Who, Star Wars, or Star Trek. Probably Trek since it had the most dignity at the beginning.
Most of these are slopped beyond hope of repairing the franchise but those 3 are kind of unique in that even the older stuff is tainted now.
I can still enjoy Raiders of the Lost Ark or Terminator 2, and just ignore new installments.
When I hear there's a new Starslop I roll my eyes and prepare to listen to people complain.

Prepare your anal cleft, because there is a Lotr movie in the works that might ruin the original trilogy (The Hunt for Gollum or something), as it's in the same continuity.
Now, I think it will be good since ibstead of hiring hacks they hired Hackson, but the possibility is there. Potential lolcow elements would be:
      >having Ian McKellen play Gandalf again
      >same goes for Elrond and most of the cast (Thranduil is the only one who would still work. Orlando Bloom obviously also, but with him it feels like an age rollercoaster if you watch all the movies)
      >using too much of the Hobbit movies lore

I wouldn't say Terminator is ruined so much as the story has run completely dry, there's nothing to do but retell the same story over and over again. It was dry by the third movie, there's just not much to the story in reality beyond the time-traveling murderbot stuff.

    >Star Trek
Pretty much ruined. The nature of the show however allows for long hiatus so it might not be totally dead in the long run.

    >Star Wars
Same as above. They ruined all the goodwill and will likely bury the franchise for a decade at which point it might become good again.

    >Harry Potter
Pretty much ended on a high note. The upcoming show seems is likely going to be more of the same which isn't a bad thing. Nobody cares about the spinoff movies and the video games are some of the best tie-in in the industry.

    >Ghostbusters
Dead and buried. It was never a huge franchise to begin with and the reboot was a wet noodle. Can't see people waiting for another Ghostbusters movie now that nostalgiagays are out of the picture.

    >don't know what I'm looking at

    >Robocop
Was never a fan, have no idea about the state of the franchise.

    >LotR
Most people agree that the trilogy was near perfect and will never be matched by another entry. Nobody really cared about the Hobbit movies which ranged between 4/10 and 6/10 and and even less so about the show. It's a dead franchisein terms of quality new entries but books and movies will still garner fans for decades to come.

    >Indy
Dead, buried, grave got pissed on.

    >Ayyy
It got shat on more and more but it's one of those non serious franchises with unclear lore that can always be rebooted. One or two good movies and it would bounce back.

    >Terminator
Dead and buried. Can't see them turning this one around.

    >Predator
Same as Alien but I feel like it had fewer bad entries.

    >Jurassic Park
Was never a fan of the franchise but it kinda seems dead? You can't capture the magic of the first two, three flicks.

Robocop 2 had it's moments and Robocop 3 was bad but didn't go out of it's way to shit on the first films. and the remake was more forgettable than offensive. I just don't think there's much room to expand on the original in a way that doesn't turn Robocop into a comic book hero, which wasn't the intention of the first movie.

Star Wars. People waited years to see Luke, Han & Leia together again. Everyone saying Doctor Who is wrong, its such a frequently rebooted show. Ghostbusters had a shit 2nd film so they were never seen as an ongoing franchise, just a hit film with a lackluster sequel, the rest either told their entire story already (LOTR, Harry Potter), or the actors are mostly dead (Trek) or retired from the character (Indy), or an easily rebootable premise (Terminator, Dinosaurs, Predator, etc) that isn't dependent on any specific actor.

    Probably it's Terminator.
If you think about it, you go "It's Star wars or Jurassic Park, because new movies actively try to retcon or outright erase the original movies"
Terminator did that with each movie, so you internalize it as "normal thing" and part of the plot.
So if you take that away, it's the most ruined.
    It's not "the most damaged"
It isn't scorched earth and fleshbits what's left to call "ruin", is not damaged like a hammer pummeling a clock.

That's a really good point. Dark Fate really slammed this nail into the coffin by killing John in the first minutes of the movie. At that point you've truly said "yeah there are zero stakes, the timeline will always voodoo up a resistance hero".
This was evident as early as Terminator 3's "Judgement Day is inevitable" shit. There is zero reason to invest in Terminator past T2.

As of lately it's Dr. Who for me, not the rest is any better, but they had to frick it up with SJW bullshit in such short time losing all its charm that went on for decades.
