>escape the ship and float aimlessly for days, still beat the armada ships to land >jungle is completely devoid of human life until they get to the stone slab >the natives speak the same language as the spaniards (not even handwave explained with magic, they just straight up speak the same language) >Cortes doesn't follow the chimpanzee trail blazed by Miguel and Tulio nor does he show any inclination that this is at least his second trip to the New World >Chief Tannabok is completely cool with these white dudes pretending to be the gods of his religion
i turned it off after they built a giant ship in three days but I bet it gets worse
good observations. Also, where was Chel planning to go with that gold thing she stole if she didn't know of any nearby civilization? Why did those soldiers chasing her care that she stole it if the whole city is full of gold?
The Prince of Egypt is more realistic than Road to El Dorado.

the assertation that all 90s animated films are good because they were hand animated is just wrong.

Prince of Egypt was the only good Dreamworks 2D film. Maybe because it was the first one so they cared more, or because it was an adaptation instead of an original story
>2D western films were comercially successful during the 90s (Tarzan made over 400 mil worldwide in 1999) >after the failure of El Dorado in april 2000, western 2D films suddenly stop pulling big numbers
coincidence much?
Why El Dorado is the problem of lossing interest and not Treasure Planet?
Shrek in 2001 making people not caring about 2002's treasure planet and disney going full 3D feels more like a turning point, because disney was bigger than dreamwork in the 90s

even before Shrek premiered, it was clear audiences weren't interested in 2D anymore after how sloppy El Dorado was. Titan AE flopped and Emperor's New Groove underperformed. Both came out before Shrek
El Dorado is like a buddy adventure movie, the setting is basically irrelevant. I liked El Dorado more because it was something adult and different, and ahead of its time. But Tarzan is probably the "better" film. And Jane is really cute.
Yeah taking place around the time of a genocide was what made it even funnier, lighten up homosexual. I like to think that Road to El Dorado took place in the same setting as Apocalypto.
El Dorado is one of the most shallow 2D films i've ever seen. Those characters have zero depth or nuance, and we aren't even given any information on them. The tone of the film is also extremely innocuous, with barely an emotional or serious moment to be found. It's a piece of fluff
Shark Tale is the only great thing to come out from El Dorado. It had the same director (Eric "Bibo" Bergeron) If El Dorado didn't happen, it's likely Shark Tale either wouldn't exist or would be a different film
El Dorado's entire second half is boring. The conflicts are dull (Miguel wants to stay, priest is obsessed with human sacrifices) and the pacing is slow (tons of scenes outstay their welcome due to poor editing/meandering conversations)
>think you're the only ones who dream of better things? Of adventure? You've got your reasons, and.... I've got mine. Let's not make it personal, okay? It's just business
that line from Chel goes nowhere. They never explain what are her reasons for wanting to leave the city
>Tulio bashes his head multiple times thinking of a escape plan, and the one he comes up doesn't include how to escape from that room
i don't like the comedy. It's silly without being funny
was that spaniard guy really so strong that he could shake the ground and make the dice bounce? Another plot hole : how did he get the map to El Dorado?
El Dorado is not a good movie
It's a great movie
it's not. Weak script
You are not a viable human.
Kys
El Dorado makes no fricking sense if you think about it longer than 5 seconds
care to explain why? I dislike the film so i would like to hear it
>escape the ship and float aimlessly for days, still beat the armada ships to land
>jungle is completely devoid of human life until they get to the stone slab
>the natives speak the same language as the spaniards (not even handwave explained with magic, they just straight up speak the same language)

She probably knew of other native tribes that would have valued gold so she planned on stealing an idol and making a new life.
>turned it off because muh realism
Peak autism bro.

Tarzan by a mile. Dorado is only remembered because of Chel
Tarzan for the plot and animation, El Dorado for the PLOT and characters.
One is about the Book of Enoch, the other was written by a Scientologist. Take your pick.
El Dorado is literally the film that killed american audiences' interest for 2D films and 2D musicals
Mouse cultist headcanon are crazy
>2D western films were comercially successful during the 90s (Tarzan made over 400 mil worldwide in 1999)
>after the failure of El Dorado in april 2000, western 2D films suddenly stop pulling big numbers

Treasure planet
Treasure Planet was late 2002. Audiences' interest in 2D was gone by that point
Why El Dorado is the problem of lossing interest and not Treasure Planet?
Shrek in 2001 making people not caring about 2002's treasure planet and disney going full 3D feels more like a turning point, because disney was bigger than dreamwork in the 90s

I enjoyed Tarzan more overall. I thought the second half or 2/3rd of El Dorado was kind of boring. I haven't seen El Dorado in many years though.
El Dorado is like a buddy adventure movie, the setting is basically irrelevant. I liked El Dorado more because it was something adult and different, and ahead of its time. But Tarzan is probably the "better" film. And Jane is really cute.
>Crosby, Hope and Lamour style comedy taking place around an historical genocide
El Dorado was a misconceived film
Yeah taking place around the time of a genocide was what made it even funnier, lighten up homosexual. I like to think that Road to El Dorado took place in the same setting as Apocalypto.

>noooo the comedy movie can't just be fun it has to have miguel having to shoot julio in the head to save his bastard son
Shark Tale is the only great thing to come out from El Dorado. It had the same director (Eric "Bibo" Bergeron) If El Dorado didn't happen, it's likely Shark Tale either wouldn't exist or would be a different film
>El Dorado : march 31, 2000
>Shark Tale : october 1, 2004
quite the gap. Bergeron isn't credited in anything released inbetween
Both have a boring last act
El Dorado's entire second half is boring. The conflicts are dull (Miguel wants to stay, priest is obsessed with human sacrifices) and the pacing is slow (tons of scenes outstay their welcome due to poor editing/meandering conversations)
There's more brown eyes in Greystoke.

That city sucks ass.
hot sweaty colonizing sex with Chel while my gf Jane watches
would a real life horse be so stupid to jump to the ocean for an apple?
Probably.
Yes
also, why didn't Miguel give the apple to the horse inmediately after he brought the keys? Sure forgot to keep his word
Why can't all indios look like Chel?
>Tulio bashes his head multiple times thinking of a escape plan, and the one he comes up doesn't include how to escape from that room
