Normal words buy a horse guy is objectively the better zing. South Park ripping on Family Guy for having so many cutaways was barely even a burn since most people love the cutaways. I like all 3 shows anyway
Bojack. South Park's parody of Family Guy insulted it much more thoroughly, but Family Guy fans don't care because they know the show is pretty stupid at the end of the day. Bojack fans think their show is some great intellectual experience when it's just middling drama buoyed by "WOULDN'T EXPECT THIS FROM A CARTOON, WOULD YA?"
Yeah and that's a known trope of the show, its not really an insult to say that they show is random and lazy, its kind of tlejat people expect from the show, at least since it came back from cancellation. It was weird South Park got so butthurt, I've never heard anyone, let alone the creators, argue that Family Guy is art.
No if you watch the early seasons, the cutaway gags tied into the current conversation / events. It befamr lazy when they obviously just started pitching a bunch of gags that have nothing to do with the anything then force them into episodes to pad them out.
The fact that Family Guy's mockery of Bojack was so short and only took a few seconds was the ultimate anal devastation. That's all it took to make an entire show's fandom seethe, and the writers knew they didn't have to go any further than that because Bojack is such a basic b***h show that's only held up by the anthropomorphic characters.
This. South Park devoted an entire fricking episode to Family Guy. They were trying a little too hard and in the end all they really had to say was "the cutaways are random" which wasn't even a takedown so much as a statement of fact. Whereas Family Guy took five words to ruin Bojack in a cutaway that wasn't even part of the main plot.
its wild to me that south parks criticism of family guy was randomness, how much random shit is in south park? whole episodes of exactly the same type of random shit as in family guy
what made matt and tray seethe so much?
It's not random. The episode follows a theme, and all the events on the episode follow said theme.
Not like Family Guy, that the theme of the episode has nothing to do with the cutways.
The critism never made much sense to me either, I always just assumed that Matt and Trey secretly have autism and get annoyed when other people don't play by their arbitrary rules.
>what made matt and tray seethe so much?
The Phil Collins case made them bitter.
In a recent interview Matt even mentioned they made like six episodes of shitting on him but they never aired them
>In a recent interview Matt even mentioned they made like six episodes of shitting on him but they never aired them
Holy butthurt. I hope they self reflected on how pathetic it was and not some studio suit telling them not to.

paris hilton, phil collins and seth mcfarlane should work on something together, it might finally end south park
So what if it did? He's made two long running tv shows, two short lived shows & several Hollywood movies. Unless he has like 5 ex wives or a coke addiction then he's rolling in cash.
Criticizing cutaways seemed so homosexual and butthurt. I'd rather have a show that's only concerned with making jokes and making people laugh rather than some hamfisted, long-winded moralizing show with some chickenshit centrist stance.
Show me in my original post where I said anything about "thoughtful comedy". I criticized south parks formula and you took personal offense to it. Black person homosexual.
>I criticized south parks formula
No. You didn't specify that one bit. You said blanketly you didn't like thoughtful comedy only immediate pleasure. Even in context you come across as an idiot. But your post alone says a lot.

nobody got “butthurt” you stupid fricking asshat. Family guy thought it would be funny to kick the creative staff of a show while they were down because Seth is a total fricking hack and an absolute piece of shit human being. Thats what made the south park dig so funny
Family Guy stopped leaning on cutaway gags and gore as of late. But the jokes that replace them aren’t as funny or memorable. You need good characters to make character based humor work.
Like, a recent episode had Meg agree to be a surrogate mother for Bruce and his husband’s baby. The plot expected us to believe Meg and Bruce were close friends. But had they ever even interacted before? Every story is forced and insincere.
Seth complained about it on some talk show (or said there is no point in responding since it takes so long for a family guy episode to come out)
I don’t know if the creator of Bojack said anything

This really
Family Guy knows what it is and embraces it, while Bojack insists on itself
The critique of the cutaways is they're complete non sequiturs forced into every few minutes of dialogue.

anything meta-hollywood is intrinsically cringe as well, so the two effects combine to feel very patronizing

Midwit take. You can certainly have thoughtful comedy. Not like any of these three shows ever did so. And not like youd ever appreciate it.
The midwit here is you. There's literally nothing "thoughtful" or profound about SP comedy or commentary.
>zero reading comprehension
>immediately strawmans after reading three words
It must be nice not even realizing how much of a homosexual you are.

If you go on a studio tour they refer to their own writers as manatees. They can take a joke, unlike the horsefrickers.
