    South Park

South Park is more boundary pushing as things Family Guy can get away with are because South Park did it first and there are things Family Guy struggle to get away with that South Park got away with for years as running gags like abortion. Family Guy is edgier because of its use of shock humor and harsher characters.

    Not that anon

    >show that was able to keep up with pop culture on a week-to-week basis
    vs.
    >show that consisted entirely of dated Hollywood references

South Park was edgier, Family Guy was better

Family Guy was unironically better when it wasn't trying to push boundaries but instead just be an edgier New England Simpsons.

What boundaries are there even left to push? It's all "this is stuff that'll shock your cheesy Sunday School soccer mom" except it's soccer moms who watch this and ironically old school South Park and Family Guy would be more shocking to Zoomers and Alphababbies these days

Honestly the only boundaries to push now are calling people out on there bullshit. Like companies using gay to push sales and what not.

Is it really such a profound observation? In my country, it is literally stated in law that a company's primary concern is to earn money.

Looked it up and apparently that was on a DVD so I don't feel it really counts.

Either way it's an unfair comparison since Family Guy is on network television. South Park is cable (and I guess now streaming) which has traditionally been able to get away with a lot more. The FCC can only censor network television, a cable channel like Comedy Central is mostly limited by concerns over what they think might drive away advertisers (and I guess in South Park's case, concerns over causing an Islamic terrorist attack).

In fact Family Guy literally made an entire song about the FCC: https://youtu.be/KwDPTThyfYc

Family Guy started as a fun, comfy sitcom before degenerating into violent, spiteful pseud shit.
South Park was always about being offensive and having a message to go with it.

On the other hand, Family Guy was shit, and stayed shit. Watching current South Park is just downright painful if you remember what was before.

South Park, obviously. Family Guy was just a Simpsons rip-off.

Family Guy was just a republican speaking from the heart and South Park was just a libertarian speaking from the heart.
