I wouldn't call any of the ones I've seen bad exactly, the sheer spectacle produced by their budget alone adds enough entertainment value to save them from being bad.
However if there was a tier list for high budget action blockbuster's I'd place them pretty low on it.

4 by far
i’ve never seen 3 but intend to
2 is shit because they literally made it up as they shot it
5 is ok
1 has a messy third act but is still a classic
overall 4 is the best
Michael Bay is my fricking hero bros, I'm just wondering why he's hated for basically casting what every guy wants in his head (but is afraid to speak up loud about)
Fun fact: that scene was literally pointless. Their relationship was perfectly legal even without the Romeo and Juliet law.
Meanwhile, a fully rendered and voiced robots scene that added more characterization was cut out of the final film.
There's 5 entries of the original live-action Transformers series:
- Transformers
- Revenge of the Fallen
- Dark of the Moon
- Age of Extinction
- The Last Knight
And 2 movies in its reboot:
- Bumblebee
- Rise of the Beasts
For me, its the first one. Its not perfect, but still has that feeling of awe about the robots and their transformations, good cgi and some cool action scenes. It was a great summer blockbuster movie for my teen ass.
Why is Rise of the Beasts starring two ugly fricks instead of that cute girl from Bumblebee? Also, why ditch that comfy 80's seaside setting and the wholesome friendship between the girl and Bumblebee?
it was reddit vibes and overly forced >look! look! look how NOT michael bay this transformers is!!! 80s soundtracks in 2019 isn’t dated as frick at all!
Still better than whatever the frick is the last one. Excluding everything else, it was nice to have something different from this franchise at least once. Specially since it gave Bumblebee some focus and a real friendship before he got with Shia. The cute girl and the setting were a bonus.
Rise of the Beasts actually told a coherent story and we coo/m/ers got Arcee so its a tradeoff
I wish Hailee had cameo'd though, they mention her in passing but I really liked her in Bumblebee, way before she was on Cinemaphile's radar
Here I thought The Last Knight was terrible because it was clearly two different scripts stitched together, causing it to basically stop after an hour and switch to a different movie, have a completely incomprehensible plot even for Transformers, and stop and start plot points and characters over and over, while taking the wacky retcons to a new level of ridiculousness, eventually coming off like a parody of Bayformers.
But no, I guess it was just "the woman who was in some of the film".
>2007 if you don't know Transformers, generally agreed as the best one because of good plot >Dark of the moon made the most money, has over an hour of nearly non stop fighting, most action by far >Revenge of the Fallen for the forest fight, or if you grew up with the first three, reddit people hate it passionately because of accusedly bad plot, still good if you liked the humour of the others
4&5 are very different, Optimus, Bumblebee as well as Megatron and Barricade are the only original characters remaining, less action, less transformations and changed designs. However the scene of Optimus arriving in 5 during the final fight is pure Kino and redeems it somewhat
Revenge of the Fallen is disliked because it is terrible. It was terrible on release and it is terrible now. One good action scene doesn't redeem the rest.
Maybe if you watch it for the first time with this knowledge, but I liked it since release and even after having seen the critics and rewatched it, it is nearly not as bad as people make it out to be. Maybe I watched it too often or find it too nostalgic, but I still think many of the action scenes we get (not just the forest fight, Shanghai at the start with Optimus drop and the revival in egypt at the end are great as well) are some of the best of the entire Bay series.
The dynamic between the couple in the first one is fun and cute, and while Mikaela is in no way a co-lead, she still does plenty. In Revange of the Fallen she is mostly silent accessory attached to Sam. The writers' strike fricked over her chacter.
Yes, 2007 is super comfy and well made, didn't like it as much back then because it didn't have as much fughting nack then and because Optimus was seemingly weak in it, but these are not really flaws and rather me having been to young to get it
What knowledge? I saw it on release and thought it was terrible. The constant cheesy humor was awful, the plot was nonsense, the villain was nonexistent, and it didn't have the allspark of the first film at all, apart from one or two action scenes. I thought the third was a major improvement in all respects.
The dynamic between the couple in the first one is fun and cute, and while Mikaela is in no way a co-lead, she still does plenty. In Revange of the Fallen she is mostly silent accessory attached to Sam. The writers' strike fricked over her chacter.
ROTB is really a good example of suits making a film.
>lets go hard on diversity, black director and hispanic/black leads >lets put in modern politics to pander to young folk, anti cop themes, racist white characters and no sexualization of women >lets pander to nostalgia because that's in right now, 80's soundtrack, movie set in the 90's and member Beast Wars?
Imo it's the weakest of all the films. 2 is technically worse but has that awesome forest battle.
Should probably also mention that the CGI of all 5 and the soundtrack of the early ones are incredible, some of the best cinema music ever (arrival to earth) and CGI still easily surpasses every single marvelslop movie and other current ones
While I like the films, I find a bit of a waste that it is a always more or less the same story, rather than one epic. One director doing three films shouldn't the fricking same plot.
btw, would you prefer a war epic about Autobots vs. Decepticons with humans caught in the middle, or about Terrans vs. Cybertronians with Autobots caught in the middle?
I feel like Bay had some ideas to developed the mythos in the fourth and fifth one and make Terrans bigger plays in the fifth one, but in the end it went nowhere.
>that one movie with the transformium >megatron becomes galvatron >different transformation since he's artificial >everything is ditched in the next movie
Just like in 3 there are energon radars everywhere but they all vanish in the next movies
Trying to keep track of the story across the films is pointless. Every single film introduces another new ancient Cybertron thing that is secretly on Earth, and retcons in more contradictory new events.
Might as well consider only the first film canon and the rest fan fics.
They clearly only planned one film because they were really not sure if it was going to be a hit or not, speculation was leaning more towards it being a big flop.
The Starscream tease at the end of 1 is just standard sequel bait, it meant nothing.
Why are israelites so sensitive with their shitty products? They deliberately do things half-assed and then get offended when someone calls out their bullshit
Sam's bedroom is so hilariously stereotypically teenager. You CANNOT tell me that character can even stand on a skateboard without falling off, never mind the full fricking rack full of them he has.
We had five frickin movies of him. He overstayed his welcome, should have departed after 3, that was a clear conclusion. 4 should have been a fresh start with a new director, new take, and new characters, just set in the same continuity.
This. I have a soft spot for DotM, and it really feels like the ending for that "trilogy". The Decepticons got into a bigger scale war against humanity, Cybertron is destroyed, a bunch of Autobots die and the bad guys are finally defeated.
The ones with Linkin Park in them. And Sam. Sam was cool.
Besides, Optimus having regular ass truck windshield on his chest even on Cybertron is moronic 80s scuff that should have stayed in the 80s.
Regardless, they all are seen best as clips on youtube. Glorious frickin eye-candy, tell you hwat, i'd rather not sit through the rest of it all.
The mouth on the chick in 3 always turned me off her. It was way too high on her face or something and made her look moronic. Until Moner the computer blonde from 1 was my favorite.
The first one is the undeniable best, although you can go and try 2 and 3 for something that tries to be coherent depsite the multiple retcons. Plus, it has Starscream as a force to be reckoned with and not the high-pitched chronic backstabber from the cartoon, and man, I dig that.
Some die-hard fans thought it was heresy/sacrilege/blasphemy, but frick, it was so good to see him strike fear among Autobots, with Ironhide yelling "It's Starscream!" at the top of his mechanical lungs when he appears in the sky or when he switches between F-22 and Decepticon to destroy the squad of jet fighters.
And when I think about it, the thing I liked with Decepticons in the cartoon and in the first movie is that they have more variety in their vehicle forms: aircrafts like choppers or jet fighters, "mean" cars like Barricade's cop car with the "Punish and Enslave" motto or straight up huge motherfrickers like Brawl.
Compared to this, the cartoon Autobots seem lame, which is why I liked Ironhide as a black SUV with shitloads of guns and quoting Dirty Harry in the movie. I think it'd have been better for Autobots to have at leats one aircaft to "counter" the Decepticon Seekers led by Starscream. But the fact is that even if it's kind of boring, as another anon said in a previous thread in late 2022,that all just goes hand in hand with how the Autobots respect and try to integrate with human society, whereas the Decepticons don't give a frick and just want to oppress them. Still, I think an air rescue chopper would have been neat, that's why I liked Springer in the animated movie.
Where is everything coming from? There's more panels and pistons and everything just materializing out of thin air.
The suit is Mirage. Mirage in the ROTB is a hyper-transformer like how Laserbeak was in DOTM, he can transform into anything on the fly.
Mirage gets severally damaged in the final battle, and transforms what's left of himself into a living battle suit for the human. At the end of the movie Mirage is repaired so he can assume his full-size self again. >why is there an Iron Man suit in Transformers
Gee, I wonder how a suit of metal could help a squishy human in a battlefield of giant robots. Idiot.
>There's more panels and pistons and everything just materializing out of thin air.
Is this your first time seeing anything from a live-action Transformers movie ever
reminder even in the bay era there was a soft reboot with every installment. none of these movies make any sense. and the explosions look like fireworks
they're all bad but 4 is probably the most memorable
I wouldn't call any of the ones I've seen bad exactly, the sheer spectacle produced by their budget alone adds enough entertainment value to save them from being bad.
However if there was a tier list for high budget action blockbuster's I'd place them pretty low on it.
>4 is probably the most memorable
4 is just a random mishmash of explosions and product placement
She was best girl Katara
I prefer blondes
1 + 2 combo is best
3 is alright but they really should have brought Fox back
If I recall correctly, she was dumped because she accused Michael Bay of sexualizing her. b***h actually thought she was hired for her acting skills.
Spielberg wanted her gone because she compared Michael Bay to Hitler
Maybe this is not a great way of staying employed by a director

this is the most fascinating thing about her, that she became absolute bimbo bawd for some dead-eyed zoomer
MGK is actually a millennial, but it doesn't matter.

I love Michael Bay movies.
what was her age here?
why does it matter
You can look up when she was born, look up the date of that movie, then do simple math to figure that out on your own.

The one where the guy goes on a half hour rant about Romeo and Juliet laws.
Fun fact: that scene was literally pointless. Their relationship was perfectly legal even without the Romeo and Juliet law.
Meanwhile, a fully rendered and voiced robots scene that added more characterization was cut out of the final film.
Yeah, but the hollyweirds couldn't resist to babble about fricking with minors instead of making a decent product.

Why is Rise of the Beasts starring two ugly fricks instead of that cute girl from Bumblebee? Also, why ditch that comfy 80's seaside setting and the wholesome friendship between the girl and Bumblebee?

Peltz
One of the worst actresses I've ever seen. Made Fox look like Cate Blanchett.
Despite the fact she looks like cheerful Stacy, she has strange sadness in her. At least in the film.
probably because she's the daughter of a hedge fund billionaire and undoubtedly grew up in a soulless pampered existence devoid of real human contact
I can save her.
The last Bay one is such a cringy girlboss.
not really
She starts as a cliche girlboss. Hurr durr I don't need a man, marriage? frick that.
Then she sees a working class hung and mellows into his arms. Like a princess saved by the local luberjack runed hero.
I love the trilogy and enjoy the fourh one, but Last Knigt is fricking terrible.

No such thing in the second one.
She doesn't do much in the 2nd half of the movie but at the beginning she captures wheelie and smashes the Decepticon woman to save Sam.
ROTB is really a good example of suits making a film.

Should be:
1>2>6>3>5>4>7
And where is Moner from 5?
Moner is number 1 as always, in all things.
>he knows we know
>we know he knows we know
Bay can't keep getting away with it
The aussie analyst from transformers 1 was hotter than megan fox.
Yeah, she was pretty underrated. The same for the decepticon girl from RotF
IIRC, she trash-talked the movie, starred in one horror film afterward, and then was never seen in a notable movie again.
She was in Jessica Jones
Why are israelites so sensitive with their shitty products? They deliberately do things half-assed and then get offended when someone calls out their bullshit

Sam's bedroom is so hilariously stereotypically teenager. You CANNOT tell me that character can even stand on a skateboard without falling off, never mind the full fricking rack full of them he has.
