I joined the workforce in 2004. My dad died and left me a 30k inheritance. My grandad died and left me a 4k inheritance and a car (which I am still driving). My mom gave me my inheritance upfront 20k. I had to get an extra loan from the bank for 7k and and a loan from my brother for 2k which I paid back over the course over two years.
While I was working. 6 days on 7. But now I'm 38 and have my own place. Don't think it was easy to get this place.

My car costs me about two months' wages a year on insurance and gas. And then I haven't even bought a car. My brothers drive 17k cars, with a card to tank gas.
That's a hiding of the decline of the middle class. It's government funded.

I went to town hall and asked them if they could postpone it a bit. I was still renovating. "No problem!, They said. A bit later I got a letter in the box for a fine worth 7k from the federal government.
I wrote them a letter, and basically they couldn't give a shit less. Local and federal is not the same. How the frick was I supposed to know?
So that was a year worth of savings worth down the drain.
Real talk: I haven't bought new clothes since somewhere in the 2000's,2010's and my car is from 1994.
