1) People still rewatch this show constantly, it's not obsolete, it doesn't need to be replaced, there's no empty niche to fill.
2) Nowadays you wouldn't be able to make a lot of the jokes.

I just can't imagine being so devoid of creativity like that, that you have to continue ideas through pre-established IP's. Wouldn't you want to create something more intriguing, something better, something that is more engrossing than the things of the past? Isn't that how the greatest empires and kingdoms began? Creating and building things for the future in an attempt to make it better than it was before.
You have the pen and the paper, you can think of anything that comes into your head and wonder what the greatest way to tell the story is, and you have literature and philosophy spanning thousands of years to help you also. How the flying frick do you mess up so hard for years and years and years and years? They completely deserve the shutdown and AI replacing their jobs. The talented writers will still write great stuff, while the losers will get fricked.
