The problem is the future (the far distant future) is always fricking boring. The difference between Batman Beyond and Legion of Superheroes is that you can see the passing of the torch. You can see the shift in time. In LoSH you're dropped in a world where Brainiac has a 5th version and works with Superboy.
Honestly it could be done if they made a Superboy show and used it as a way for him to become Superman like Smallville but done right.
