I think he just wrote himself into a corner trying to make pain powerful enough for us to believe he was the leader before the madera reveal and trying to keep ahead of the tv release
Someone willing to capture on 9 tailed beasts into the crazy statue that rages out of control sucking the life and chakra out of people when Nagato gets mad…continuing to capture the tailed beasts without finding out what happens after all the beasts are captured is a pretty stupid person.
For all he knew, the statue would become an all-powerful monster and destroy the world. After the fight with the 9 tails, you’d think he’d have a moment of clarity, “Wow, I almost lost to just one of the tailed beasts. What could possibly happen if all of them are combined in the same vessel?”
After learning of the reanimation jutsu, you’d think he would reanimate the original Akatsuki members that were murdered by Obito to confirm if they were killed by Danzo, Hanzo, or had help. And in that action, he would have found out that they were killed by the fake Madara and he would have taken revenge.
He has magic eyes that can resurrect people?
He could have dug up his parents, Yahiko, and everyone he wanted resurrected, used the reanimation jutsu, then used the Rinne Rebirth jutsu to bring them back to life.
He could have had Konan perform the renanimation jutsu on his dead body (Rinne Rebirth allegedly can kill the caster), then when revived, he could have used the Rinne Rebirth to revive himself.
He could have repeated this step over and over to rid the world of unjust death.
But Nagato is one of the most moronic characters. I think it’s fitting that he could be manipulated by Naruto considering he had been manipulated by Obito for well over a decade.
Does Pain, by the time he appears in the story, even give a shit about the world being destroyed? It's been a while but I thought it was made clear that him and Konan definitely know about Akatsuki's ultimate plan regarding the tailed beasts (well except the part where he, like everyone else, is Madara's pawn)

Nah he would've long done it already if he thought he could. But I figure him and Konan definitely talked about getting rid of him, hence Konan preparing her trap over the years specifically to counter Tobi.

Original series is pretty kino. Shippuden gets stupid and forgets its own lore and world rules but has cool villains
They’re basically the same thing and I’ve watched/read all of both (except Boruto, I got through like 2 1/2 episodes and dropped that trash)
Bleach is nowhere near as sappy and preachy as Naruto is.
The fights are typically more elaborate and the character writing is stronger.
But it is a lot more saccharine and sappy than Bleach. Not as cool.
Its great but the filler can be outright aids. Naruto and shippuden both have numerous really good movies too, I was disappointed there's only 3 movies for bleach vs 10 for naruto

Itachi easily, Kisame was also cool as his side bro. these two introduced the group as a bunch of kino super assassins but none of the other characters ever managed to hold the same villainous presence. they all just feel like… naruto characters, to put it plainly.

Hiding was my favorite when I was younger but he's kind of cringe rewatching the series. Still based though.
Obito because he has my favorite power. You can explain it in 30 seconds, but it's ridiculously hard to overcome. Hell, in the war even when they communicated the 5 minute limit, the entire world's ninja population combined still couldn't counter it. Also pretending to get hit never gets old, and I like that he even does this after becoming "serious". Anyway they're all really good, maybe the best villain organization.
