The majority of the comic material for any given group of cape heroes will, in fact, just be an endless series of reinterpretations of reinterpretations by a stream of different writers and artists. Capes do not tend to have the source-to-adaptation relationship you'd find in actual creator-led fiction. Instead they have this abortion of a thing, where a vague brand idea is artificially kept alive well beyond its years while pretending to comply with an increasingly contorted canon.
To be frank, "Batfamily stans" are by nature wanking over a set of ideas which aren't well catered-to by the comic runs to begin with.
