Why do people say this about manga? Some of it is made up but it's really not out of the question something like One Piece or Naruto would have a simple abstract cooked up from the beginning. I'm not a Naruto expert but for One Piece people say there's no way Oda planned the One Piece would be something special, or that he didn't know Luffy was going to overturn the government or something. All it takes is some slight regular planning like anyone would do if they had a goal of making a long manga, and the details you work out later. Why wouldn't Naruto be the awesome hero? Dragon Ball solidified the Toei model of a long running shonen that the studio can milk for years on end, on that case Toriyama said he did in fact made up shit week by week and very little was planned out.
Oda came after DBZ was a established series, and One Piece got picked up on its infancy by Toei, so one can assume that he indeed knew it would be a long running show because that's the model Toei was looking for. Since then he said publicly that he did in fact planned out an outline including what the One Piece is and how it end and only his editor and Toei president knows about it. He seems like a smart guy and very down to earth I wouldn't put past him.

On his mother's side the Uzimaki Clan were hot shit until their personal hidden village got BTFO(allegedly it was destroyed by the Hidden Cloud/Mist but all we really get is Kushina saying that it was destroyed.) so badly that the Uzimaki scattered to the wind to other ninja nations who almost always abused them(Karin and her mom) or were neglected(Nagato and his parents and Naruto of course)
Had any of the Uzumaki had any cash I feel like they would have tried to unite or at least reached out to the others but as it was the surviving Uzumaki either didn't care enough or actively avoid one another. I don't think Naruto or Karin have spoken a word to one another. Nagato the first Uzumaki to run his own ninja village before Naruto came into power knew that he and Naruto were related but didn't think it was important enough to mention.

Jiraiya is pretty up there. The only thing you can hold against him is that he left Naruto alone. But considering I know the answer he'd give if he could would be 'I didnt mean to! I never would have done that! I just didn't exist until shortly before I showed up' I can't really blame him.
But Jiraiya's small time teaching Naruto is some of my favourite part of the story, it gives us this glimpse into the wider world of Naruto where wondering bullshit meisters could be in any bar and I'd absolutely want him as my mentor if I got bullshit ninja power.
Otherwise I always liked Gaara, especially early Gaara. Early Gaara is such a complete mood whiplash its impressive, every time he shows up there's an almost audible clunk where Naruto shifts into a different genre. And you get a lot of 'insane' villains in anime, but Gaara's madness is portrayed as genuinely upsetting and not at all something you'd want for yourself. Hell just his basic deal is unsettling. Needing to force himself to stay awake because otherwise the demon will eat his personality, but he still obviously needs sleep and is just not dying I guess because host powers.
Him doing a complete 180 turnaround isn't exactly believable, and more could have been put into how he won back people who have seen him rip and tear, but new Gaara having Naruto as his sponsor and doing 'what would Naruto do... if Naruto had brains' for shit is oddly touching.

perfected summarised my own thoughts on pain, I feel the grandiose nature of pain was reflected in the shift in the fights themselves, it was a little darker and had some weight to it, the crazy animation helped this too.

The Nine Tailed Fox is associated with every tragedy that's ever happened in Konoha, which is why no one offered to adopt him. The Hokage basically gave him a social worker who would buy him groceries, etc.
The Konoha Elders wanted him gone and used their influence to isolate him. They were able to do this because Kakashi was a Jonin in the ANBU black ops until the year before Naruto graduates ninja school and Jiraya was on a long term intelligence mission that spanned a decade.
If neither of these happen, he is raised by one or both of them. The fact that they come back and then take him under their wing immediately and insulate him from their meddling almost immediately is probably why they were kept away from him in the first place. The 3rd Hokage admits to fricking up with Naruto, and should have raised him as his own son, but he was pressured not too.
