Ballet kicks ass. Maybe handegg is more appropriate for a homosexual such as yourself. You can watch it with Taylor Swift and cheer on Kansas and the totally unscripted outcomes.

No, he's quite right. Ballet may seem a bit fruity on the surface, but those guys drown in pussy. Meanwhile, football players are always hanging around each other naked and wet and the whole scene is just dripping with homoeroticism.

Hey. I'm a straight guy and enjoy ballet. We're not all buttholes. I started watching professional ballet performances after seeing Bunheads. The show just made it seem like real fun. But then I read about all the crazy things ballerinas go through. I still enjoy it, but now have a greater appreciation for the people that go through all that training to go pro.

The main character isn’t gay, or at least there is no implication of it in the film.
His friend is gay, and presumes he’s gay, like practically everybody else in the coal town.

                >what's the name of his gay friend in the movie?
                The character’s name was Michael.
The actor was a 17 year old playing an 11 year old, named Stuart Wells, who later was in the cast of The Reckoning, with Willem Dafoe and Paul Bettany.
The actor later joined the British army, and did two tours in Iraq.
                Also, he’s supposedly not gay.

Aren't the pointe shoes specifically designed to prevent damage? Modern shoes are designed the same way as high end sporting equipment. I work in theater, so I've met a few girls that did ballet when they were young and got quite far in training. I'd say the mental damage is greater than than any physical damage that danicing caused. Not only is it physically draining, but the stress, eating disorders and awful stage parents really do a number on the girls when they start reaching higher levels.

they are, also dancers often wear toe pads to soften the impact even further
but despite that youre putting an entire body's weight onto a single point so its gonna be rough eventually

Look at professional ballet dancer’s feet !
Brie Larson’s feet were in nicer condition than a typical ballet dancer’s feet, before Brie fixed her foot issues (somewhat).
        > Winter Season: A Dancer's Journal (Random House, 1982) by Toni Bentley (a professional ballet dancer fir the NYC Ballet)
        ,explains the foot issues.
The toe shoe are usually custom made for each professional dancer, and then modified when received by the dancers, then tossed fairly quickly.
Most professional dancers can do toe work without the toe shoes, but their feet would be in even worse shape, and broken toes are fairly common even with toe shoes.

I mean the entire movie is about people like op who immediately disregard it as just a gay activity, despite the large amounts of girls involved who exclusively frick male ballet dancers.

It's your classic pride and prejudice, where we choose to segregate ourselves because whatever we are, we believe we're better than others.

its a family movie that was very popular and it was quite good. I'm not sure it would hold much interest to americans.
Today you couldn't make it without it becoming subsumed in "culture wars" bullshit from the right and left which is a real shame as it was a good movie. unpretentious.

basically american style "culture wars" has runed everything and you guys are as bad as the left for perpetuating it.

This just looks like “Beyonce” dance moves done by ballet dancers in Toe Shoes.
If the choreographer wanted to make the “Black Ballet” more stereotyped, taps could be added to the toe shies for each step.
