walt was at least dying and had been treated like a joke for years. i don't think walt would have killed jesse either, unlike with chrissy. walt didn't even kill hank. also tony went to a therapist (gay).
Tony loses basically all his charm by the end. Not really a fair comparison since the showrunners gave Walt an ultimately redemptive arc. Tony by the end is a complete and total piece of shit incapable of doing anything decent.
I would say Walt's repemption is the central point of the show, and for him to have an ending like Tony would've been what ruined the show.
The point of Breaking Bad is that you have a choice. Good or evil is not deterministic, but a matter of free will. Good people can go bad, bad people can go good. To not allow for Walt to have a dignified end makes the show unnecessarily and unrealistically nihilistic.

Ironically, Walt always felt more like a narcissistic power fantasy to me. After he "became" Heisenberg, there aren't a lot of moments of humanity or realism to his character. Tony is a temperamental sociopath, but his humanity never really faded throughout the series. He's showed insecurity, uncertainty, anger, depression, jealousy, etc. Walt just became a flanderized "badass" without compelling nuance and for that I think he's the worse person.
recently watched all of the Sopranos and want to touch on a few things that disappointed me.
1. Tony did not beat the Priest's ass and kill him. the whole Priest/Carmela thing happened in Season 1, immediately I was like, "oh shit tony's gonna beat his ass and kill him". never happened
2. Tony didn't find out who raped Milfy, beat his ass and kill him
How was Walt evil? He simply capitalized on an underutilized fungible market and killed other degenerates. I’d say he was revenue neutral in the evil department
