the Monument Mythos was successful because it was different in a time where horror videos were defined by lame derivative shit like the Mandela Catalogue or the Walten Files. but what makes it good, really worth watching, is that the videos work both as standalones and as part of a series. much of the first season was disconnected and relatively small-scale, but it set things up that Alex could later use when he had a plan for where the series would go. because the thing about Alex is, he doesn't like to explain things. and the series went sour when he ran out of things to use from earlier videos, resulting in ALCATRAZAPOCALYPSE where he just threw shit out without any thought. (remember Giza Gas? I don't.)
and this is what we see in the Nixonverse. he doesn't have an existing world to build on and is just making shit up. and that's why everything is so confusing. because Alex never explains things.
it's not that big a commitment. takes me about ten minutes at most to find a spot for each new video. especially because the part I care about (the first two "seasons") is already in the order I want it in.

I think it's fair enough that Alex wanted to do something different for the Nixonverse without just doing Monument Mythos again, even if this is technically MM season 3.
I'm curious though if the ending is going to tie more strongly back to the Deanverse or if the wienertease connections were just to ease us in and it's going to become more divorced as time goes on.
