Yeah, that is pretty awful when you think about it. Hank is definitely a stay in your lane kind of guy but the insinuation Bobby couldn't be successful and benefit from a clearly enjoyable and lucrative career because he's not the chad type to pull it off is a bit cruel.
I honestly think it was the writers getting lazy and writing themselves into a corner. Earlier in the show they would have revealed that Bobby's boss was an awful person in some way but they went to that well too many times.
They could've had the same revelation for Bobby without Hank intervening. If Hank reluctantly accepts it's what Bobby wants to do and supports him then Bobby finds people repulsed by him he could be like "I don't get it, why aren't people grossed by you like they are me, Pete?" Pete could give him some platitudes about sticking to it and then Bobby could notice the same photo of him and Peter and reach the same conclusion that it's not for him, at least yet. I get what they're going for but it doesn't really land when you think about it.
Damn, I really would have liked this over the actual episode.

I thought this at first watch. But in reality it's hank rescuing Bobby from the naivety of Bobby and the jonnyknockville. He took to heart the lesson jonny taught him, do what nobody else wants to. Remember when he's cleaning puke for a quarter? Jonny in character and real life is insanely lucky and does shit nobody else wants and is rich as hell, it worked for him, it wasn't bad advice intentionally it is however bad advice to a young boy. In reality your the kids cleaning puke for a quarter or featured on bumfights.

Exactly, it’s one of the more honest episodes later in the show’s run. Peter Sterling can do what he does because he’s tall, attractive, and good with people. He would be successful at anything he does, or so it’s implied. Bobby has failed at so many things and lacks all those qualities Peter has. But regardless of all that, really I think Hank would prefer Bobby learning something more useful while he is young. Are you really going to let your son spend his formative years making money by doing what is essentially equivalent to janitorial work? Then all your son will be good for is a janitor.
