Twin Peaks The Return was so bad that it made me reconsider everything he has ever done, and ultimately my judgement was that he was never really good. Should have realized it earlier after I hate Inland Empire so much, then watched the documentary about the making of the film and it has him explicitly explain how he has no idea what he is doing.
Literally the best director in the history of the medium. Kubrick is second.

Actually it should be Yorgos Lanthimos, Alejandro Inaritu Gonzales and Denis Villeneuve. I'm still to see a good film by any of these hacks.
Iñarritu fricking sucks, good suggestion. But I would agree with Denis Villeneuve, he fits with Spielberg and Nolan. They are style over substance.
I loved Arrival but after watching Dune a realized the hack has no vision and is no artist, just a manufacturer.
You can hate on Lynch, or Tarantino, even Lanthimos but their films are easily identified. They may make a stinger but you can't deny they have a cohesive vision.
