WHY AI IS ACTUALLY GOOD FOR?

You can create your own anti-woke movies and compete with Hollywood from the comfort of your own home with digital actors and any setpiece you can imagine by using PC hardware and your own imagination. You can even make money doing this, the same way book writers do by self-publishing on Amazon or whatever.

How is AI bad again?

Before anybody could make a living making whatever art they wanted if they had the dedication or passion. Now in a lost ai-world those "classical artists" who spent 10k hours perfecting their craft will have no purpose. I cannot speak for all of them, but I think most of them are specifically talking about "plumber" artists, not "real" artists. They are actually probably just using "artist" as a proxy for "blue haired lefty queer person" if we're being completely honest. If I only speak for myself, and as someone who likes to draw and model and animate I have nothing but excutement for the AI revolution, although I'm in a position where art was never my actual source of income, so I guess I'm coming at it from a different perspective. For me having a tool that just eliminates all my technical constraints and givea me instant output is incredibly exciting because for me the purpose of creating something is really not about the process itself, it's just about the act of creating and actualizing your vision, regardless of the methods by which you make it happen. As for working artists, I honestly don't feel too bad for them either for a couple of reasons; 1. to the degree they are being displaced by the technology, they are not uniquely under pressure from the AI revolution. Most other professional activities are will be similarly affected by it, so it's not it's "unfair" 2. like I alluded to before, I'm not really a romantic for the artform, to me the art is all that matters, more even than the artist himself, so definitely more than the process. Also, like I said, most currently working artists are not "real" artists, they are essentially plumbers. They are basically to their comissioners/employers/patrons what AI is for everyone. They are not actually creating anything new or original, and often theyr output would actual be better done by an AI that blindly followed the requester's prompts. So in essence all that's being lost is the artist's fare, no value is actually being lost.

Now as for "real" artists, thise aren't going anywhere and they are basically unaffected by AI penetration into the market, because theae are the actual creative people.

The real artist will not need to do plumbing anymore to finance his actual art because now he will too have access to AI which will allow him to realize his vision a lot faster and close to 0 cost. If anything, AI will just make the real artists even more proficient and impactful.

Real artists do not and have never done art for the money. Money is not the currency artists traffic in. This is where you're fricked up in your view of things. To the degree the great artists of the present and past have ever chased money was entirely so that they could finance they're big ambitious projects. If the cost of such projects both in time and material resources approaches 0 there's no need to chase money.

I am not interested or am I looking at this at all in relation to money. The only people worried about money are the plumbers, which I have no care for because I don't think their work will be a real loss and I don't feel particularly sorry for them when everyone else, including people in my particular professional field are under the same amount of pressure. Get over yourselves.

At this point you're either baiting or you're for too dumb to care to argue with: how would a software that is open to anyone who has a basic internet connection with the power to fully realize any audiovisual vision of even people lacking formal education or technical ability benefit the elites and the people with access to resources over the dirt poor disadvantaged plebeian? Are you legitimately moronic?

                >Real artists do not and have never done art for the money.
Bullshit. It's ALWAYS about the money.

Yes, to some extent, because up to now there has always been a cost associated with the production of art, thus full time artists have always had to chase money to some degree or another, but as I said, as that cost is reduced, the need to chase money decreases. But don't get it twisted, the artist is not making art to chase the money, the artist makes money to chase the art.

quality is subjective. people watching tiktok think its more entertaining than hollywood.

this says more about hollywood than tiktok. slop sequels and reboots and agenda-driven bullshit that nobody likes. hollywood had everything and threw it away.

you might think tiktok is "low quality" but relative to hollywood, it's wagyu steak. the proof is people prefer watching tiktok.

high quality doesn't mean what you think is high quality. you're a pretentious dickhead. you don't represent the normal person.

this is what I mean about more good content. it's not what *you* think is good. it's more content that people want. and AI will make that happen.

tv and film today all has the same problem. good production values, terrible scriptwriting.

AI lowers the playing field for production values. some teenager in their bedroom is going to be able to make content that's visually comparable to modern studios. the barrier to entry is gone. they don't need millions of dollars and producers to greenlight their ideas. they just need time.

we're going to see an explosion in content. most bad. some good. but most importantly, different. we're going to see a diversity of ideas never seen before. and the crap scriptwriting we see today, most of it agenda-driven propaganda, will be only a tiny drop in a sea of content.

terrible scriptwriting will never go away. but it be drowned out by quality content.

and we know this will happen because it already happened to music. a kid with a macbook and garageband can make content today that only a few decades ago required studios and experts and lots of money. the barrier to entry was what held them back. not a lack of imagination or talent.

that's going to happen to the visual medium. and it's already happening. netflix / disney / hollywood are fricked.

even if, the amount of AIslop being produced by teens in their basement will be proportional to the amount of slop being produced by big time studios and completely negate the quality content

most content will be bad, same as it ever was.

but the amount of quality content will explode. in total numbers. not as a percentage. maybe as a percentage even lower, because so much bad content being made. but 1000s of people with great ideas but previously impossible to make, because they weren't rich, because they didn't have the correct political views, because they weren't sucking some producer's dick. they now have the tools to get their ideas into the visual medium.

more good content. more diverse content. more ideas. more people empowered to make content, both good and bad, but overall the amount of good will increase.

No. You're wrong. The thing is creative people with AI will be able to make amazing things that were impossible to make alone just a few years ago. But the problem is who's distributing things.

Self publishing exploded these past few decades, but literature right now is a complete shit show. Publishers control the bookstores, they control the literary awards, they control the algorithms. If someone self publishes something of actual quality, it gets buried under an avalanche of LGBTQ bullshit that publishers push to the forefront. It'll be the same way with AI movies.

AI movies will not receive any award nominations, they will not be distributed in stores, they will be buried under advertisements for Avengers 8 and Dune 5.

"AI" won't be you sitting there making pictures, that screams you have such a limited knowledge of what AI is currently and where people are trying to take it.
In your supply/demand argument, it's like you're trying to say there's a difference between hastily shitted out noise versus something created with passion. Why do you believe that creators using AI won't have followings, just as YouTubers currently do? That there won't be varying levels of quality in AI works?
Creating something with AI is about knowing how to manipulate the system into getting the image you want. There's absolutely a skill to getting the image(s) you desire and this skill will be coveted whether you like it or not.

There would be so many, it would not be humanly possible to watch all of them to see if there's any merit in them and you'd most likely be tired of AI films after watching the first three. And there would be thousands to go. I can see it ending up as a meme creation tool, like AI images, but nothing else. The idiots that are a majority of every population ruin every little thing they become interested in.

AI art is the only good thing to look forward to in the future. While it sucks that regular jobs get taken by robots and automation because these people actually provide something to society, the ''artists'' don't provide anything of value and get paid more than anyone except CEOs. These people don't deserve the positions they hold. Sewer workers have more humility and respect for the people they give a service to than ''artists'' who are the most entitled talentless lazy scum alive.
You hear them screech ''reeee, of course all the hard jobs should be automated, but art was supposed to be what we all do for fun'' but you will still be able to make your own art for fun. I can still draw, I can sing, I can play instruments. No one is stopping me. You just won't get paid millions and you will not get a platform to spew anti-white trash.

    >You can create your own anti-woke movies and compete with Hollywood
Conservatives and people on Cinemaphile could've been that ages ago, like historically when mainstream art (or really mainstream anything) isn't working for a big enough community they will create their own independent art scenes, in a more creative world the right would be developing low budget but high soul indie films that cater to their beliefs and would have been doing so for at least the past decade probably creating their own genres and tropes and so on.

But they didn't because modern rightoids can't for the life of them create art, I know I'll probably get a few responses talking about the exceptions and they do exist, but the point is that you (the person reading this) couldn't make good art even if you had every resource at your disposal, you have no soul to express through art and a large chunk of you secretly despise those who do which is why the techbros who create ai typically also fall into the right sphere of culture.

          Anonymous

          almost true

left and right are both the same. they are agenda driven. their politics clouds their minds. so their "art" is just propaganda trying to influence, but all it really does is appeal to their own base.

to make true art you need to transcend the petty politics and tribalism. say something deeper and more meaningful. capture an idea, an emotion, a feeling. neither left nor right can do that because they're slaves to their own ideology.

centrist is not quite right though. a centrist is still a political position. a based artist isn't even a centrist. they operate on a different level.

lefttards and rightoids wouldn't understand. they both believe they're "correct" and the other is "wrong". they never notice they're not even in the game.

It'll be so oversaturated that they will be a novelty at best. The standouts would be stuff made by people who can actually write and skillfully work with the visuals in a way that will most likely need hands on high quality editing still. Sure, some amateurs working from home will be able to make decent stuff, but more likely it will enable big studios to spit out more slop than ever at a faster pace.

For years we've had music production software that gave people the ability to make things that could only previously done in multi-million dollar studios, as well as distribution platforms to easily publish your work for free. It mostly lead to a vast wasteland of stuff people will never listen to, even for free, regardless of quality. When there's just so much stuff to dig through, despite a lot of it being crap, the good stuff loses value too as it's just so saturated it's hard for anything to stand out. That is something that takes more effort than AI generation as well, so I imagine that will suffer for the same reasons even more.

It's definitely great technology, but the utility and actual results have a lot of problems easy to foresee. Money for marketing campaigns or a well known studio being attached to a project is likely to be the thing that gets people interested in watching stuff when AI TV/movies are everywhere.

Very true, yes. In many scenes of electronic music, the situation got much worse when the barrier for entry disappeared. Of course there's still great music coming out, but it takes far more time and effort to find it, even if you rely at least partially on other curators with whom you match in taste.

No one wants to admit it but the only conceivable way for that to happen is to have lots of training data and the only source for that will be the light novel to manga to anime pipeline. Upscaling the animatics to photorealistic doesn’t even require “””AI”””, so that’s the only path and there’s only maybe three teams even looking at it, sadly

Ai will never allow you to recreate your minds eye truly and just settle for what ai makes for you it's not truly your vision. Also it is just used for slop. anybody passionate about a story to tell would have picked up a lencil years ago. This will just allow more content creators to make slop. Anybody passionate will have picked up a pencil years ago. It's ironic you people want to be content creators now that 99% of the work can be done for you. This is why tik tok and YouTube aren't being flooded with anything ground breaking just slop.

Also i will say being an artist requires you to be inherently left wing aince tou are dedicating hours of your life on a story/ enjoyment of other people even though it might not pay aswell as construction.

Do you actuyall have aphasia? You don't see images and pictures in your imagination you want to recreate? When you tell a prompt to make it for you they can never truly get it right. Heck too many variables or descriptors and the ai will shit itself. It will never be used to recreate a truly human experience. When i smoke and listen to music i see detailed animation in my minds eye i want to recreats and no amount of prompts will be able to do it except learning how to draw myself. The difference is with pencils and a canvas it is blank for you to recreate in your own image. Ai recycles other peoples art and imagination. You could type in 200 prompts and it still won't compare with human made art wven if it doesn't shit itself in the process. Ai cannot innovate it recycles.

If you actually cared about making art you could have picked up a pencil but now here you are mr passion project now that robots do 99% of the work for them. Like i said mr aphasia you aren't truly recreating your minds eye all that is slop garbage sorry.

they're hastily trying to make quick bucks because they're only going to be able to monetize AI content generation for a few years

Yeah it's very sad. Say what you want about sbort form content like tik tok or youtube shorts but ai sloppers have renderered these pointless now. It's just an exercise of swiping ai generated slop content jntil something worthwhile. It will be a sad day when this expands to long dorm content and media as a whole.

AI has no concept of quality.
Most are trained via Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF).
The only reason you can use 'weird hands' or other negative prompts to tune the output is cause humans tagged thousands of examples of AI-generated images.

Behind every LLM is a human's training, which is why Google's Bard has a heavy left-wing bias.

Ai gays honestly think ai will overtake Hollywood in the next two weeks. There are massive hurdles to overcome before anything remotely coherent will come out using ai and it's going to be a much more involved process than simple generating a prompt. It's going to take 20 years before we get ai generated movies and it's still going to take a team of people to pull off.

Until we get true agi that is. Which is gong to take a lot longer than people think. There is so little we know about consciousness and the mind that it's going to take a massive leap forward in tech to figure out.

The videos have barely any movement to them other than basic walk cycles and even then there is tons of morphing going on. The ai can't remember objects, characters, sets, or lighting from scene to scene. It is not aware of 3d space or repeating designs at all. It generates a completely different character and scene every time. It's going to take a completely new technology to pull that kind of shit off.

Sure, it's all still probably a ways away until the "I can make a billion dollar movie in my bedroom" point, but I think it's more a matter of "when", not of "if". Also, you don't really need AGI at all for this and I have no idea why you brought consciousness into the fold. None of this has anything to do with consciousness.

It takes a thinking machine to make everything coherent and put together.

It's going to have to be some kind of 3d generated output because the current tech just can't recreate scenes at all. Like you never see the interior of the spaceship twice in the sora astronaut video and the closest we get to a camera change is when there is a zoom on the Asian lady in the city.

You also have no control at all in these generated videos. You can't change lighting or props or their locations. You can't really tell the actors what to do especially if there is more than one. The best ai short is the balloon man and those are non coherent scenes tied together with a loose voice over narrator. The only thing the scenes have in common is a guy with a balloon head. His actions are random, the locations are random, and it visually tells no story at all. It's the voice over that ties them together.

It's not just a few years of advancement, it's decades. The most we'll get during that time are incoherent music videos equal to noise visualizers.
