credit card, actually
I dunno, honestly. Bad movies from the 90s honestly just keep aging like fine wine purely by how bad modern things are. Middling modern films are orders of magnitude more boring and moronic than flops like Batman and Robin.
Yep. It's absolutely astonishing how good the Schumacher films are compared to modern slop.
Who fricking cares? One kid movie in an eighty year franchise isn't going to kill anyone.
>One kid movie in an eighty year franchise isn't going to kill anyone.
No one died but it did kill the batman series and franchise
No it didn't. There was another movie in theaters eight years later plus the cartoons, comics, and merch continued along just fine.
They asked us to care deeply about Arnold’s plight with his wife… and then we get a bunch of slapstick and puns. We learned fricking nothing about his wife or her illness or his past.
>We learned fricking nothing about his wife or her illness or his past.
Did you watch the movie? You learn exactly what you need to.
wtf we learn a frick ton about the disease and his past, there is a whole subplot of Alfred getting the disease too
The failure of this movie directly led to the death of DC and the rise and now rule of Marvel. Not just in movies but in everything.
No it didn't you dumbass. DC was back on top of the world with the Nolan trilogy and their comics and cartoons in the 2000s still mogged Marvel, plus in games you had the Arkham series and Injustice. The last decade or so of DC's ills have nothing to do with fricking Batman and Robin.
At the very least DC was always on top in terms of animation. At times it was the only thing DC had going for it.
The amount of time between batman and robin and Nolan is longer than the time you've had on this earth
Imagine having brown skin like (You).
Only partly true. Warner Bros. was still planning on going ahead with their completely separate Justice League movie directed by George Miller even after Batman Begins was a decent success. Nolan and Bale complained to the studio and the Justice League movie was canceled very late in development.
I think things are done way too much in irony these days. It's nice to have stuff like back in the 90s that was really stupid, but you appreciate its earnestness.
the difference between old bad movies and new bad movies is that old bad movies still actually felt like real movies. Whatever else Batman & Robin is, it feels like a big-budget studio movie and not a TV show or a video game cutscene or a YouTube video.
100% this. Schumacher is a competent director so Batman & Robin still looks cool and has big expensive sets instead of being shot entirely in a blue screen soundstage in Atlanta.
Best Bane
agreed.
weasel bane sucks.
Vein Bain still scares me.
They turned the batman movie series into a kiddie cartoon show out of nowhere. Forever was mostly serious just like Burton's movies with the death of the Grayson family and shit. It's like one of the producers saw TLJs performance and said Oh I Love that and made the next movie completely like that. Giant tonal shift, bad ideas (movie is called Batman and Robin but it's actually all about Batgirl), no Val Kilmer, Bane looked terrible, but at least it looked good and the toys were cool right. Even Schumacher hates this movie.
Batman Returns had some cheese and puns but this was a major visual and tonal shift. Its the extreme antithesis of Batman Returns.
Although I do like the Poison Ivy and Bane character designs
Batman & Robin taught superhero film makers where these types of films can go wrong such as when you bloat the movie with too many characters
>Batman & Robin taught superhero film makers where these types of films can go wrong such as when you bloat the movie with too many characters
They still make that mistake today.
It insists upon itself
Far too much cheese
Chris O'Donnell is a shit actor
The dialog was garbage
Uma Thurman wasn't my wife in the film
the soundtrack kinda changed my life as a kid
Because Batman is super serious and should not be made light of!!!!
This movie gave me my first boner and my femdom fetish. I remember imagining poison ivy making me her sex slave.
Unironically better than the Batman with Edward
at least in this one Mr. Freeze feels like mr freeze and Ivy feels like Poison Ivy... hell even Bane smash
In the new one Catwoman is a high tech mulatto theif, Riddler is the SEVEN murderer, and Penguin is Tony Soprano, frick even Falconi feels weak and unintimidating, at least Tom Wilkson had screen presence
