I've seen r63 Turtle designs that gauge a better reaction than Venus and Jennika
It does look like idw wants to make their own team of female tmnt, expect another one to have another team of four.
campell wants it more likely, they have been pushing for a female tmnt team before they were even on the project. I see them all getting sidelined when campell is removed has head writer and only referenced when they are a guest writer
The comic is written by a man who doesn't know the first thing about femininity.
I like the concept of these female ninja turtles, it would certainly make for a good starting ground for the Turtles having their own ninja clan. Unfortunately, the things I'm hearing about them is not good and really weighs them down. I do like the archetypes and different fighting styles they got, particularlly with ranged and magic. Lita and Venus' magic fists and scepter are nice, and Jennika offers a mix of ranged and melee. Unfortunately, their personalities aren't much to write home about. Lita at least has being the shy one, but Jennika and Venus aren't very remarkable.
How bad is Kitsune though? Because Usagi Yojimbo also has a kitsune who is loveably hated.

What personality and team roles could they each fulfill on the team?

Little sister sort of role. Bubbly and passionate, the emotional heart of the team- but reckless in an immature why-doesn't-the-world-work-like-this sort of way. Can provide a youthful fresh look at things the others can't.

Stoic, mystical weirdo that has to be coaxed out of her metaphorical shell to enjoy more casual, communal things, preferring quiet meditation with tea- but still a reliably coolheaded sort next to Jenny and Lita, and dual-shifts with Splinter's role of actually understanding the more mystical threats.

Passionate, but in a more aggressive sort of way. She struggles with being a mutant more than any of the others despite doing a good job of keeping it under lid. She doesn't constantly puff her chest out and pick fights like Raph, but when she does flip her lid her threats have a habit being a lot more credible thanks to her past.

Being the candidate for the most put-together person of the four, usually ends up as de facto "face" and mediator of the group. Not quite the leader because her training and ability is pretty poor compared to Jenny and Venus, but usually the one who can look at a situation from the sanest possible position. Also not happy about her mutation but much better at putting one foot in front of the other than Jenny.
I like Lita, I feel like she would get along well with Mikey the most. bot the youngest, but their personality traits don't clash.
I had a good think about them in the shower and it got me wondering how Splinter would've decided to give them their weapons.
Lita is a kind girl who wants to help people and do her best, but is naive and not to fond of the many dark truths of the world. Therefore, Splinter gave her a sceptre to better use her gifts to help people. But it also functions as a spear to teach that, sometimes in order to protect and help people, you must also be willing to strike back. Alongside having it play to her physique as she's not the physically strongest. So being able to reach out to her friends and keep her enemues away will help.
Venus was taught how to use her mystical talent to learn how to ebb and flow with her yin and yang. To learn how to go with the ebb and flow of life and not totally be in a singular state of mind. Which extends to her power as well.
Jenny however, I imagine being given the bow first to have a wider perspective on things around her, but the claws actually come from Shredder as I imagine her being the most likely to have a crisis of faith and temporarilly join the Foot Clan. The bow can take out problems without going to meet them, but the claws can take them head on. It's up to her however to make the right choice on what she has to do.
I think another thing should be how they interact or have their own dynamic that fits in with the turtles
We should put April on to round out the turtle team.
