It is actually the fact that attractive women make female audiences seethe and get angry. If a female actor is too attractive, female audiences spend the whole time watching her being jealous and angry at her instead of relating to her and enjoying the story. That is why we have seen a rise of mid level actors like Morf in rings of power and Jennifer Lawrence types. they are just barely attractive enough to still attract male simps, but not so attractive that they make female audiences jealous. Also, feminist writers hate beauty and think they can rewrite the standards of beauty by spamming us with ugly people and telling us they're beautiful.
to follow my point, attractive actresses do still exist and get roles sometimes, but they're generally relegated to the b***hy meangirl roles who audiences are supposed to hate. Riverdale is one of the few examples I can think of where they cast baddies in the lead roles, specifically Madaleine Petsch, but even then her only role is to be a sexy lesbian who will inspire the young female audience to turn lesbian themselves.
