Because Australians don't want to watch Australian tv shows.

None of this shit is expected to be successful, but our government forces production companies to make shows here if they want to show their US and UK series.

No significant capital investment from private interests, so the government funds it. But the government, including the centre-left ALP, can't make Hollywood out of thin air, so all the investment goes to a handful of academies and established channels that draw upon upper-middle-class people for their talent pool, so NIDAcuck bourgeois limpwrists who do too much overpriced coke dominate the industry, have no insight or talent, and produce masturbatory nonsense largely for themselves.

I'm not so sure, I think sensibilities have changed over the past decade and people, including younger women, are incredibly sick of the girl-boss archetype as an unrealistic and entirely political characterisation.

If they are attempting to imitate the success of the previous iterations they would have to be willing to let the girlboss fall flat on their face to create meaningful satire.

The film and arts industry here is so up its own arse that anyone with real talent migrates to the us or uk the moment they can to try and break into the industry there rather than deal with the nepotistic wankfest hellscape that is the industry in australia. pay's garbage too.

We aren't. We have quite funny tv shows (sometimes) and got great comics. Our film industry is lacking but we had good innings in the seventies with the New Wave. People care more about sports here, though their is still plenty of wanker activities if one so desires.
