Gundam is the most accessible and popular mecha show. There is also Evangelion but Gundam has more appeal to /m/ due to its focus on war, history, ideology, and machine porn. Macross is not easily available to watch on any streaming service and there isn't any new stuff going on in the franchise. Also, the mechs look too much like transformers, which are ridiculed here in the West and is a turnoff.
