this started in the 60s and 70s with the New Hollywood movement and revisionist westerns, people like Robert Altman were at the forefront, their basic philosophy was "whatever they did in Old Hollywood, we'll do the opposite!" and critics ate it up

This seems to be the basis of leftist ideology
      >whatever conservative Christians believe, we'll push the exact opposite!
      >unprotected anal sex with multiple strangers is bad? No its actually good!
      >pedophilia is bad? Nuh uh!

Because what came before also tore down the things before it. You're just an ignorant dipshit who refuses to accept his own irrelevance.

Cynicism, irony, nihilism, hipsterism already set in early with Gen X and Millennials. Far before the final form of the soulless zoomer. This site is a testament itself to it really.

same reason there was the academic and artistic debate between the ancients and moderns in the 18th century. people try to erase past greatness to inflate the value of their mediocre shit now that it cant be compared to anything.

Communism. Call it whatever you will but to bring in the "new order" of whatever shit those in positions of power want then they have to destroy & shit over the old first.

Destroy the old order, bring in the new. Literally call it whatever you want. That is what it is. Politics, culture. It doesn't matter the subject.

Easier to use someone else's creation as a mouthpiece for whatever you wanted to shit out than to make something wholly original that can't skirt by on nostalgiabaiting and riling up a pre-existing fanbase against itself for free publicity
In the case of actual original IPs though, the deconstruction has usually been either done to death already meaning "it's a deconstruction of X but with this gimmick attached" or it's entirely born of some jaded nihilistic mindset that 'optimism bad grimdark edgy good'

The current generation is obsessed with making everything some "deep (as a puddle)" political point or social commentary. They should be thought of as religious zealots, because that's essentially how they behave. The progressive social justice cult that has emerged in the wake of the Obama years can be considered a secular religion.

if I had to guess, they're pissed off they have to do franchise slop instead of making something original as if they had talent
so they'll "put their spin" on whatever they're making
thereby ruining whatever franchise slop it was supposed to be
