Why are people here pretending they are upset Splash Mountain is being changed to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure? It's clearly a universally praised move from all the social media I've seen
Why are people here pretending they are upset Splash Mountain is being changed to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure? It's clearly a universally praised move from all the social media I've seen
Everyone’s got a laughing place anon
>both disney land and world
Why?
Don't ask questions just consume darkie
Personally I don’t give a shit, I just find it funny that Disney spent so much money needlessly renovating a ride that at that time no one was seriously calling for them to do
I assume one of the big motivators was merchandising. They probably had to be careful when doing splash mountain merch due to not wanting to associate it too much with the movie. This version won't have that issue and it'll be easier and safer to market.
I mean Splash Mountain Merch still probably sold incredibly well. Most people had no idea what Soung of the Sourh was and probably never connected Briar Bear, Fox, and Rabbit with the movie
nah it does need a renovation
the animatronics kept breaking down and needed constant repairs
the dancing ones on the steam boat kept breaking down so often that they just stopped fixing them. alot of times they'll stand still not moving
also i fricking love princess and the frog, literally the best 2d disney movie
t. i went to disneyland 3 years ago and remember that
Do the animatronics get quirky at night?
har har har har
>the animatronics kept breaking down and needed constant repairs
>the dancing ones on the steam boat kept breaking down so often that they just stopped fixing them. alot of times they'll stand still not moving
I haven't been to Disney in over a decade, but they were in rough shape when I was there in 2010. I've watched a few YT videos that have been documenting how frequently the animatronics keep breaking down at Disneyland and it's definitely getting more and more frequent. It makes sense though, the animatronics are old and most of them are re-skinned from America Sings.
As for the renovation, I'm torn. On one hand, I have a lot of nostalgia for Splash Mountain and I love the old school animatronics. Plus, there's just something so great about the finale with Zip-a-dee-doo-da. On the other hand, I can see Disney's point of view. The animatronics are frequently breaking down, and Song of the South is far from an IP that kids know. It's just dated all around. I think PatF makes sense as it keeps the Southern charm of current Splash Mountain. Plus, I can see the potential for some cool effects if they include Facilier and his voodoo.
I think committing to a full name change isn't wise.
Splash Mountain isn't a comic or a cartoon.
It's an adaptation of a cartoon though.
> It's clearly a universally praised move from all the social media I've seen
You're trying to bait people but Tiana is literally best girl so this is a win for me.
>You MUST hate anything to do with gays and blacks
>You MUST think everything that happens is a kikish conspiracy
>You MUST think everything that normies hate is based, actually and vice versa
it’s just contrarian homosexualry
It's contrarian that gays spent years whining about straight white men making everything about them only to do the exact same thing
Or....and hear me out here. Maybe a lot of us don't fricking care about some troony hanging themselves or some gay getting outted for being a MAPs person on shitter and having it forced onto us as "news".
Seriously for people who just want to be like anyone else they certainly love to be the center of ALL attention for more than 2 seconds.
Well I am because I know they'll have no Animatronics. It'll all just be cheap projection screens.
Disney isn't like Universal where they abuse that shit all the time. Stuff like their Pandora land which is one of their most recent and advanced lands still uses animatronics.
Wait they are? That’s fricking lazy as shit
That's what Disney does now. They're a monopolistic company with record profits, but prease understandu. Small family company.
You are just racist. You should be glad they are hiring black woman to put those projectors in there.
I’m just upset they’re replacing the animatronics with shitty projector screens
Do Americans really believe putin cares about Disney world rides?
>Putin
Motherfricker is trying to rebuild the USSR before he dies here in the next few years. He isn't the current-era Hitler or whatever big bad guy that leftists want to scream he is.
Ukraine is former Russians being attacked by current Russians.
DONT YOU DISRESPECT ME LITTLE MAN
I don't give a FRICK about politics or race, I just love the characters a lot and think they're among some of Disney's best.
It's a bit sad that once Splash Mountain is gone, we might never see these fellas again in any official way, oh well.
Tokyo is refusing to change their version of Splash, so you might just need to go to Japan.
Tokyo's licencing contract is running out in 2030. They'll need to completely retheme anyway.
They'll have to completely rip out Critter Country. The entire land is themed after Song of the South.
I mean. There are a lot of critters in lots of Disney movies and TV shows they can use that aren't #problematic. They still have the Winnie The Pooh ride.
I'm just surprised Disney remembered the Princess and the Frog at all
It's their go to "hey we need something for the Black folk" property.
Pretty much. Someone was saying Brair Rabbit stuff was racist and this was the first idea.
It's a shame it's seen as such, I'm white and it's one of my favourite 2D Disney movies.
There are people who like it, we just aren't loud enough (and the people who went "no one cares!!" or "she's a frog for most of the film, that's racist!!" were louder) so Disney went "oh guess nobody cares then, lets shut down the 2D animation department." It gets blamed for that as if it bombed, but I think Disney just wanted an excuse.
Based taste in Disney movies
bad
@131653599
Jesus, you must be getting paid by the reply.
Why are all the Disney wienersuckers out in force? Look, I know Pride month just ended, but clearly there is plenty of dick to suck elsewhere. You need to take a breath before you choke, OP
>@131653599
This shit is always funny to me, you're clearly still replying to him dude.
They should have kept the Splash Mountain name. Honestly I'm not upset about the change but more about the reasons for the change.
Nobody cares, chud. If anything this is 60 years too late.
>Disney literally censoring the only piece of true African American culture in the entire park.
Confederate culture is not African culture.
>Uncle Remus is not African culture.
No, it is not. It is born of attempts to bastardize real African and Native American myth by white authors.
So, it is African culture? Got it.
>This idiot knows nothing about how the Brere Rabbit tales were told by African American slaves to each other.
I know it hard for white, west coast liberal person from a state/territory that was far removed from the actual civil war and Slavery conflict like you to do, but how about shutting your cracker mouth up?
lmao, the /misc/lack thinks he can talk black. Hilarious. Why don't you just frick off? Song of the South is racist, it portrays sharecropping as fun for the whole family :), and the Uncle Remus tales were invented by a white man after hearing REAL African culture but needed to "Americanize" it.
>it portrays sharecropping as fun for the whole family 🙂
Compared to Slavery? Yes, it's just another form of having a actual fricking job.
No, sharecropping is exactly like slavery. It was just a way for the South to get around the 14th and 15th Amendments. You're a fricking prick and I'm glad nobody will ever remember your garbage movie.
>No, sharecropping is exactly like slavery. It was just a way for the South to get around the 14th and 15th Amendments. You're a fricking prick and I'm glad nobody will ever remember your garbage movie.
The Internet never forgets.
Good luck with that. Already nobody cares.
>Good luck with that.
Te Movie is pretty damn easy to find online.
>Already nobody cares.
You obviously do to still be shitposting
I guess we should have went with a Plan A of deporting all the slaves back to Africa and let taking care of them be Liberia's problem.
The American Colonization Society was never mainstream and was hated both by blacks and abolitionists at the time for obvious reasons. Deporting the slaves was never plan A
You're confusing sharecropping with prison labor.
And yet Disney still doesn't have the balls to make a Princess from Africa.
I want to rub Louis' big belly and listen all the noises his belly makes.
Princess and the Frog is way better anyway.
I just hope Charlotte is there...
GTFO. The only PatF character that even comes close to the Br'ers is Dr. Facilier.
>Dr. Facilier
Damn shame it isn't a Dark Ride featuring him. Just middling bullshit.
He should get a seasonal Halloween variant of enchanted tiki room.
That's creativity talking. Disney doesn't do that anymore.
>making it themed after the movie that killed 2D Disney movies
I'm a little confused here, did Princess and the Frog get a Megamind situation recently where no one gave a shit about it when it first released but it has a resurgence in popularity because of nostalgia and memes?
Nope there's barely anything in the film to Meme.
They did have that Augmented Reality game in the parks a few years back. But that's it.
Movie has been a flatline.
Now if they actually had a series to get some intrest going.
I'm not sure if it ever had a bad reputation, it mostly just had the issue that Disney hadn't been making popular films for a while when it came out. I don't think this is a case of them wanting a princess and the frog ride and more than likely they wanted to get rid of the song of the south theming and this was the easiest movie to replace it with, as well as putting more diversity in the parks.
There's nothing wrong with Splash mountain
Nope. Overall it's a leftover part of Bob Iger push of "park synergy". Only reason the River Adventure was spared is because of the Dwayne Johnson movie.
>Only reason the River Adventure was spared is because of the Dwayne Johnson movie.
It's called the Jungle Cruise.
I'm not sure why, I can't explain it, but for some reason it has always bothered me that the fact that these characters are deeply routed in black American history has been swiftly swept under the rug and ignored. They're not something Disney made. They were stories crafted by black slaves, inspired by African culture, and pushed onto white people later on by abolitionists as a way to make them sympathetic to slaves. They played an important role in our nation's history but like anything related to black culture (Such as many elements from blacksplotation films) they've been deemed racist and undesirable by people that just won't come to terms with the fact that it's just how black people acted during that snippet of history. Characters and works like this are a window into that timeframe and the culture of the people who lived there. It just rubs me the wrong way.
Erase them from Splash Mountain, whatever, but I wish we'd stop pretending like these characters aren't black American history but instead some vile creation of the white man to make black people look bad.
Nah that would take effort to educate and build a black culture. That bridge was burned long ago.
When I said I wanted more Princess and the Frog, this was not it. They need to pump her Disney Princess brand more. Japan doesn't even accept her as a princess and I can't blame them.
She needs a cartoon series first, maybe some extra material like more comics or books for kids. Even a needless Disney sequel would show she's validated.
Otherwise she's one of the weakest Disney princesses and it'd have been better to use Ariel. You know, the fish princess with a water theme.
From what I understand, the main argument in favor PatF was that they could reuse the America Sings animals, which was also the main reason they kept putting of a retheme because the Imagineers are really attached to those things for some reason. Are they even still doing that?
>Otherwise she's one of the weakest Disney princesses and it'd have been better to use Ariel. You know, the fish princess with a water theme.
Because when I think American rivers, I think of the Danish Mermaid.
She is getting a show
>praising the last princess who was hand drawn
Im cool with that.
Splash Mountain is pretty cool but damn I can't wait to go down that motherfrickin Bayou. Newer rides like Cars are crazy good so I'm looking forward to a Tianabot to fall in love with. Maybe she will replace Ariel.
Remember ten years ago when the plan was to educate the new generations on the context around this kind of media instead of pretending it never existed?
Its insane how much things went to absolute shit in decade
Educating people about the media isn't the same thing as never changing an amusement park ride
Redesigning Splash Mountain is not historical erasure
It's kinda a shame that the Brer characters can now only live in Japan.
I understand barying the full movie, but couldn't they just have the animated segments as just shorts?
I, for one, want to cum deep inside Tiana's fat chocolate pussy.
Because change is le bad.
Only based poster ITT
Change baaaaaaaaaaaaaad. Change mean old thing become new thing. Old thing good. New thing bad. No want new thing. Want old thing forever.
people here keep pretending their opinion is the universal opinion, i don't know why you're surprised.
Why do people get upset about fricking rides period? Theme park gays are moronic. Oh wow, the place you probably visit once or twice in your life is going to slightly change a 2 minute long ride, big fricking deal.
CHANGE. BAD. NO WANT CHANGE. WANT EVERYTHING TO STAY THE SAME FOREVER.
I have never understood theme parks. Everything is vastly overpriced and you end up waiting in line much, much longer than you do on the rides.
It's the only medium where the phrase "You're destroying my childhood" isn't completely wrong.
Also while Splash is based on old film IP, people latch onto the Disney parks's original concepts since they tend to be well executed little adventures in genres that the animation studio either rarely touches or has had trouble doing something successful with it. Like Haunted Mansion mogs pretty much any Disney spooky thing that's been made ever since and if the film studio's attempts at adapting it weren't so shitty and human focused, it could easily overtake Nightmare Before Christmas's fandom.
If you go local season tickets are less then $200, some don’t require them at all and some have no wait times
t. Pa parkchad
They're a lot of fun in the off season, even jaded fricks in their late 20s have a good time.
surprised this wasn't the plan from thebeginningg.
I wouldn't say universally praised, people certainly liked it but clearly not enough to bring back Disney 2D animation.
Ahem.
NEW BAD, OLD GOOD.
Thank you, that is all.
Aren't bayous long stretched of flat, stagnant water?
So the 'mountain' part is just gone from the ride or the ride's name is a misnomer?
No, they're just gonna add Mama Odie's boat treehouse on the log on top and remove the brambles as far as exterior changes go.
And even within the diegesis of the original ride, Splash Mountain was just a nickname the critters came up with for Chickapin Hill when it got flooded.
It's not the overlay that's upsetting people. It's the reason why it's being implemented
They already replaced my favorite shit and nobody cared because there was no politics to screech about, so I don't give a frick about the splash mountain "debate".
This will never compare to replacing ToT with flash in the pan, GotG trash.
