Why are there more gays in comics than the real world?
They aren’t.
they can shit out as many mutant gays as they want tbh. they know better than to make someone important like spider-man or donkey kong gay.
just because you have no friends doesnt mean other folks dont exist
uhh...because representation matters!
This comes across as really narcissistic to me.
I've never had a character that I identified with on the basis of appearance/ life experience yet it's never stopped me from liking something.
Isn't the point of fiction that it doesn't perfectly reflect reality?
No, that's why showrunners are shying more and more away from non-human characters who don't look strongly human.
Women are extremely narcissistic, so it makes sense.
Wasn't one of the main complaints about Turning Red both in some reviews and on Cinemaphile that people couldn't relate to it because it clearly only speaks to a specific kind of asian?
>This comes across as really narcissistic to me.
Welcome to the current year! (The loving yourself message of Steven Universe would've been considered narcissistic)
What does it mean to love oneself?
I love others but I'm OK with myself.
If humans weren't narcissistic we wouldn't be having the grand majority of our stories starring humans, superhumans, being about humans beating fictional non-humans we invented to be superior but also losing, or even taking stories traditionally about non-humans (like Transformers) and shoving humans into them.
>I've never had a character that I identified with on the basis of appearance/ life experience yet it's never stopped me from liking something.
So why complain when a character is gay?
If fiction is allowed to not perfectly represent reality what's up with all the homosexuals here pulling out demographic percentages to argue that there's too much of a thing they dislike?
How come this whole "I don't need to be seen" only ever comes up when it's the minority getting the spotlight for once?
I never said any of that shit though?
>So why complain when a character is gay?
If it warps the entire character into a stereotype, then because it's shitty writing.
If it has no bearing on the story whatsoever, then because it's tokenism.
If it's a well written character and the character's sexuality has an impact on the story? Then sure, go ahead.
>If fiction is allowed to not perfectly represent reality what's up with all the homosexuals here pulling out demographic percentages to argue that there's too much of a thing they dislike?
Because tokenism can break immersion in the setting if it's done poorly. Like in the Wheel Of Time show. A small, insular mountain village that had been there for thousands of years was as diverse as a modern metropolis. Unless everyone was really fricking racist, then they would have blended into some sort of ethnic group. It's just not believable to have some backwater medieval town be so 'representative'
>How come this whole "I don't need to be seen" only ever comes up when it's the minority getting the spotlight for once?
Because people don't need to be seen as a token, they need to be seen as an individual person.
>If it warps the entire character into a stereotype, then because it's shitty writing.
You're saying this on the board of capeshit and cartoons. Where all characters are, almost by definition, over the top and exaggerated.
>over the top and exaggerated.
Bigger than life character =/= stereotype though.
The concept of flanderization says otherwise but honestly I think that there the idea that gay characters are 1000% gay all the time is pretty overblown.
>If it has no bearing on the story whatsoever, then because it's tokenism.
And if it has bearing on the story, then you frickers will complain about how it's being shoved in your faces. Needing for every LBGT+ character's sexuality/gender to have an "impact" on the story is how you get shitty, preachy storylines.
This almost never happens with LGBT characters outside of Marvel/DC because everything in those stories can be changed and sexuality isn't an exception. Superhero comics are a terrible avenue for genuine storytelling, but capeshitters throw tantrums every time someone points it out.
Sorry, but your entire stance is honestly very disingenuous. I've seen it all over the website over the years, people parroting the same exact thing. And every time, they never mean it or just move the goalposts. That or, it circles into another tangent where someone states that, if their sexuality has no bearing on the character/story then there's no point in them being gay/not straight, and similarly if it is too integral to the character then they have no personality and their sexuality is all there is to the character.
>nuh uh because nuh uh
Okay
Yes, that is in fact the argument, or at least that of others like you who claim that they are only for representation "done right", to the point where it might as well be weasel words.
It's always
>Their sexuality doesn't matter!... as long as they are straight
To be fair this board also hates straight pairings where a black man is involved.
"Representation" is such an insane concept it could have only been born in America. It's just so fundamentally absurd and nonsensical.
Not really. It's just a higher level version of whenever you think to yourself if "you're the only one who x" and then seek validation. If people did not wish for representation, or relating to the subjects of our stories, then we would not base the majority of stories on human characters and human issues.
What's nonsensical about it? People like relating to the main character.
There aren't.
The only demographic that's truly over represented in comics is redheads and the second they tried rectifying that this board lost its mind.
Why are there more superheroes in comics than in real life?
Because they're superhero comics. I wasn't aware they were LGBT comics now too.
If you have something featuring mostly human looking characters it is practically inevitable because people, including you want to ultimately see yourself in the characters.
>people, including you want to ultimately see yourself in the characters.
Yes and you'll notice most comic fans, who are straight white males, hate seeing anyone not straight, white, or male in the role of main protagonist. What they fail to realize, as basement-dwelling dweebs, is that they shouldn't even be able to self insert as the heroes because said heroes are so much better and more accomplished than the fans that they shouldn't even be relatable. Remove any one of the three aforementioned superficial traits from a character and suddenly it's a completely foreign alien to the dweebs.
So, I know that you're just trolling/baiting, but the idea that you can only "relate" with a fictional character as long as he shares the same superficial appearance traits as you is moronic on its face once you realize how many black Americans love anime.
Batman running around with a preteen boy in green underoos is gay as frick.
fpbp, got Cinemaphilemblr assmad
Right? Guys like us are just too based for this board kek
Because it’s a dying medium that chased away all of their demographic because they started pandering to a completely different demographic.
gays are overrepresented in media
these are so fake lmao
Dude, almost 50% of the real life human population is LGBTQ.
100% is because I think everyone is a little bit bi and has that ONE exception(even if they're super androgynous or something)
>100% is because I think everyone is a little bit bi
Maybe you, homosexual.
>Maybe you, homosexual.
I mean yeah, I'm just projecting
Random question, but what's your favourite Joe Rogan episode?
Remember how purportedly common homos(or at least pederasts) were in ancient Rome? Always struck me as weird since "naturally" they're less than 5% of the population now. So either being gay isn't innate, or most people are to some extent, but they deny it due to social norms
Want some real social blasphemy? Look up the pathogenic theory of homosexuality.
futa on female is where it's at, my homie
>Look up the pathogenic theory of homosexuality
It's...interesting, but seems like a bit of a stretch. Do I understand it correctly?
>homosexuality should not be natural since it has no reproductive benefit
>infectious vectors can cause brain illnesses(sleep apnea, toxoplasmosis, etc)
>humans and sheep are the only populations with relatively high amount of gayness
>humans and sheep have many infectious vectors in common
>so The Gay could be due to some form of infection
It ignores the evolutionary biology advantages of homosexuality though. As well as birth-order instance and the correlation with female inheritance.
tldr; it is advantagous for a woman's reproductive success if she has a gay brother. (Or at least it was back in hunter-gatherer days.) Someone without kids who could help out and take over co-parenting duties if your moan left or was killed, or help raise the kids if you died.
All of that increased your kids chances of surviving to reproduce.
Basically... back when we were cavement a gay uncle was a spare backup parent.
There hasn't been a single test or experiment done to try and validate it so yes it is a stretch. Literally not even a theory in a scientific sense
Well obviously it's because of social pressure. Everyone with a functioning brain knows that. The demographic data looks exactly as you'd expect if you'd already been saying older people are less likely to admit that sort of thing to strangers or the government, a point of criticism of surveys for decades. But also
>naturally it's this number
No. If we go by the polling and assume young people aren't making stuff up to make people mad, it's higher than that, assuming you aren't conflating exclusive homosexuals with ancient romans not engaging in exclusive homosexuality.
Millenial kids raised by same-sex Gen-X parents were polled like 16 years ago when they were in their mid to late teens. 1 in 4 said they would be open to romanticly dating someone of the same sex.
I tend ot think *that* is the actual number of LGB+ in the population. 25%. Raised in an environment with no stigma, that is how many teenagers consider dating the same sex a serious possibility in 2006.
A February 2022 Gallup poll gound that 1 in 5 members of Generation Z identifies as LGBTQ. And that is -with- all the negative social pressures still against it.
Ironicly if you poll the GENERAL population and ask them how common LGB people are they tend to answer 1 in 4... which is 4-5x the 'official' poll numbers (and 2.5 times the weighted population estimates.) So people in general think everyone else is a lot gayer than they're admitting to.
>1 in 5 members of Generation Z identifies as LGBTQ.
Wow. Frickin gay as hell.
There's also the factor of location. Like, the vast majority of media (especially capeshit) takes place in major cities, which are more likely to house minorities, be they ethnic or lgbt.
Like, this board complains about all the black characters Marvel is adding but most Marvel stories take place in a city that in real life is 20% black so of course there's gonna be more.
New York City is also only 42% white. So basically just about every single Marvel comic book is failing to accurately depict actual real life demographics. There should be way more hispanic/latino/latinx and asian characters.
>latinx
you frickin some mariposa piece of shit, mae?
>the black characters Marvel is adding
actually they aren't adding, they're redesigning and race-changing preexisting characters.
Can you name some race changed character in marvel comics?
Psylocke
Not black, so nobody cares. Also wasn't she race changed because of a body swap with a Japanese woman name Kwannon?
The body swap was a later retcon.
Her not being in her orginal body is kinda key to her character.
Yea, but the body swap dynamic was a later addition, she literally just had her body turned asian in the story as part of her being brainwashed into thinking she was an assassin for the Hand/Mandarin.
Marvel is always redesigning and revamping characters, sometimes quite radically. Why are those certain changes so inherently bad?
Name them.
>they're redesigning and race-changing preexisting characters.
Which ones?
Iron heart? It's not like Black Iron Man is a new idea.
Falcon as Captain America? Captain America is a title.
>A February 2022 Gallup poll gound that 1 in 5 members of Generation Z identifies as LGBTQ. And that is -with- all the negative social pressures still against it.
>And that is -with- all the negative social pressures still against it.
The fact that this is being said during Pride Month alone is a big clue that you're just making shit up.
Fact of the matter is, people can indeed be influenced into "LGBTQA+" stuff. How many, say, "transgender" people exist within sub-Saharan Africa? You won't find too many, because this "queer" shit is almost entirely a Western and Western-adjacent phenomenon.
>How many, say, "transgender" people exist within sub-Saharan Africa?
If you asked the same about autism or anorexia and got a disproportionately low number, would you conclude those are made-up too?
Yes
> comparing a genetic defect to two mental illnesses
jej
>The fact that this is being said during Pride Month alone is a big clue that you're just making shit up.
But anon, this came out 4 months BEFORE Pride!
Are you Factose Intolerant?

Frick off. Frick off
Being gay is largely dependent on your culture and environment. That's why theirs a lot of gays in the navy and in prison
Are they actually gay though, or just making the most of what they have on hand to get off with?
Being gay is more than just fricking another man for pleasure or companionship.
>Being gay is more than just fricking another man
Nope.webp
I'm sorry, anon, but it is. Fricking a guy out of necessity is not the same as being gay. Because being gay is being sexually attracted to men.
>Fricking a guy out of necessity
What even
When you go to prison, the most important thing in your life is gonna be booty. A man's butt. Booty, getting some booty is more important than eating food. It's more important than drinking water
>because I think everyone is a little bit bi
I stopped watching straight porn because the sight of dicks and/or men was a real turn-off to me.
Solo girls with dildos is where it's at.
>I think everyone is a little bit bi and has that ONE exception
> spoiler
Greeks codified the three types of love, aesthetic, manic, and romantic.
Manic is what we would call infatuation today.
That one exception you have is the same sort of deal where you think you would go kill that homosexual holding up the line in the drive through but even if you had the gun in your hand you wouldn't really have the guts to try. It's aesthetic attraction.
If you care about real world representation then there needs to be a lot less men in comics and more women.
Weird how representation only has to be 100% accurate when it comes to gays...
>women don't read comic books
>gay people don't read comic books
>gay people don't read comic books
I don't get it. The target audience are still straight people and I would guess they outnumber gay people watching or buying this stuff. To include gay characters in any media for straight people is pretty weird.
>To include gay characters in any media for straight people is pretty weird
Why?
What a narrow minded, ignorant and weird worldview.
>gay people don't read comic books
*scratches head*
So... books about men in skintight costumes who have to hide their identities and pretend to be a meek and unassuming version of their true selves would have NO appeal to gay men, huh?
>If you care about real world representation then there needs to be a lot less men in comics and more women
The whole mainstream entertainment industry has become gynocentric as frick for years no but sure bud
>Gynocentric
>85% of films featured more male than female characters. Only 7% of films had more female than male characters. 8% of films featured equal numbers of female and male characters. 14% of films featured 0 to 4 female characters in speaking roles, 53% had 5 to 9 females, and 32% had 10 or more females.
Sure thing buddy. Look up the statistics. Men are vastly overrepresented in media, and yet that's not a problem. But gays not following real world statistics is weirdly out of line for bigots like you.
Also interesting that they ignore how we know that younger people are vastly more likely to admit to pollsters that they're lgbt, and if anything they're still significantly underrepresented in capeshit, a genre where characters heavily skew younger.
Let's count how many gays are in comics and how many are in the real world. Okay, so you're one...
>Let's count how many gays are in comics and how many are in the real world.
1 in 4 male characters in comcis is gay?
Wow, I didn't know!
I worked in a department that had around 30 people. There were two gay guys, one guy that everyone including the gay guys would swear was gay, a lesbian, a bisexual girl, and a guy that had a girlfriend but he always came across like he wanted to suck my dick. If there was a show that was based on my department, that many non-hetero people would make anons cry nonstop about it and say it's unrealistic. Having 1-2 gay people in a show seems to break people's minds.
>Having 1-2 gay people in a show
Wrong board
There's like 1,000 gays in real life. There aren't that many comic books on Earth
Because no matter how tolerant you want to be, sexual attraction is embedded in our DNA and an overabundance of a sexual orientation, that on biological terms, is actually quite insignificant weirds normal people out, since that is not part of their nature.
Wanting to bash somebody's head in for being attracted to someone of the same gender is not normal people behavior.
It actually is, and pretending that aversion isn't there for normal people is dangerous. Yes, they're the normal, they're the average you have to regularly justify yourself to because that's how power works, and pretending that that's just them being on the wrong side of history only covers up the problem if fighting about it isn't worth it. People are naturally afraid of what is unnatural to them, and easing that tension, showing you aren't out to take their children or kill them, is an art that homosexuals had to learn from the AIDS crisis and trannies haven't learned yet and are high on the soft power of firing people for misgendering slipups.
No one likes you when you do this, no one likes Karen for the same reason, but they ignore it because they have a job to keep. However, say there was an economic recession based on categorical incompetence by our neolib leaders and you gave all those disgruntled people nothing to lose and ugly people getting rewarded for being what repulses the cis straight majority. What do you think would happen?
It's called Berlin in 1929. You've no idea what's fricking coming and every overreach and demand for compliance instead of changing hearts and minds slowly with perseverance and humility ensures that the American Nazis liberate the rainbow flag from all these triangles and burns trannies back down another 50 years. You will call me insane, you will call me an incel, but you will live this inevitablity. Ignore the Cassandra, and watch the prophecy be made truth.
Committed murder because you don't agree with somebody sexual orientation when it's more healthy for them to just accepted and to be treated normal is considered healthy and normal to you? I like using anyone who calls it not normal and bad to do such things have to be gay or transsexual themselves? Do you also believe the Ku Klux Klan will good people who did good things?
I'll jump in for anon. The default state of man is savagery. In this year there are still stoning, beheading and necklacing all around the globe. Its only due to society we suppress our savage nature. Its unjust but it is nature. Anon is say the damn will break because of idiots taking hammer to it. And if you guys don't stop the idiots you too will be swept away.
k schizo
Nothing schizo about it. The more gays demand, the less I like them
>no argument
lol
lmao, even
>It's called Berlin in 1929. The Nazis view of how Germany Lost World War II was complete nonsense made by anti-Semitism as it's called not located to anything going on in the war. Germany was losing for years America was going to put his whole economic pressure in humongous waves very soon and Germany was about to get invaded .They did not have the resources to go on any longer and people were already starving in Germany because of the war. And they would have lost a lot sooner if it wasn't for a israeli man increase in their food production capabilities,.
>demand for compliance instead of changing hearts and minds slowly with perseverance and humility
1. When in human history have rights ever just been handed over out of the goodness of someone's heart?
2. Doesn't this cut both ways? If you want to convince people being gay is wrong wouldn't "changing their hearts and minds" make more sense than waging war on them?
>Rights
Homosexuals already have rights, what they want are special considerations just for being a homosexual
Special considerations like being able to get married like other people and being able to adopt babies like other people? Why did so special when they want to do it?
They can get married to the opposite sex like everyone else and don't be moronic, they're not allowed to adopt because they often sexually abuse the children
>they're not allowed to adopt because they often sexually abuse the children
Then why do you we allow Catholic priest be around children anymore?
We should weed out gay priests, also funny how it's always the Church that gets singled out, the safe to target organisation, never the movie industry, Rabbi's, Mosque's or foreign sports stars, who all have a habit of targeting those under age.
It became safe to Target now because of how many sex abuse cases one after another and the systemic cover it up send them somewhere new to molest small children and never let the police know whatsoever time and time again happen we don't have that in the film industry Labay mosque or font sportstar the Catholic church and its reputation for molesting children. You might say they have a habit but there's no real conspiracy level of table needed up like there is in the Catholic church has been shown to still go on time and time again.
Now tell us how Christians are the most persecuted and oppressed people in the history of the world, or whatever bullshit Kevin Sorbo's been spewing lately
>Oh you have a problem with A? Funny how you neglect to mention B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, etc
Obviously people will just say the first thing that comes to mind rather than make overly long posts especially when the point is obvious. It isn't the "gotcha!" you seem to think it is.
I love it when people pull that shit. You need to be a special kind of fricked up to assume that people are against pedophillia if a priest is doing it, but totally okay with it if it's a gym teacher or a scout master.
>Be gay
>Be with other gay
>Crave children
>Buy baby from woman
>be a repulsive child trafficking criminal
>be gay
See the definition of marriage, and children shouldn't be subjected to people with mental illness
>2
See, that's just it - we don't have to change anybody's hearts or minds. homosexuals are repulsive at default. Everyone wants you gone
>Yes, they're the normal, they're the average you have to regularly justify yourself to because that's how power works, and pretending that that's just them being on the wrong side of history only covers up the problem if fighting about it isn't worth it.
Could say the same to geeks who read comics. Oh all of a sudden it's unfair, huh?
You fricked up by not posting Kermit or Master Shake, FYI.
I thought the guy on the right was Milo from Morbius.
Because gay people, believe or not, are a minority. So when someone is revealed to be a minority, people are shocked, because the default assumption is that they are straight.
They're a minority of a minority, they're less than 2% of the population but they're shilled constantly
What minority are they on the naughty of?
To be fair, that's still 6 million people in the US alone, almost the same population as NYC
>6 million
Oy to the vey
>So when someone is revealed to be a minority
Usually CHANGED into a minority to shoehorn them into a stupidly high quota.
I don't even recognize those guys.
>10 years ago, they were decent enough to leave it with C-listers
Now I can't go anywhere without seeing Professor X making out with Magneto.
Issue Is the heroes written are either rewritten as gay or do badly written from western comic writer. The whole thing becomes pandering and made for representation brownie points. The storyline is put on the back burner because of sexuality.
>still shock by lgbt representation?
More like tired of it.
Yeah this.
>You're just homophobic
Naw just fricking tired of it being shoved down my throat
actually you are disgusted by it,
but your conservitard cope is that "you're just tired of seeing it all the time."
you know that it is maladaptive mutant behavior but your basic b***h conservitard line is to act like it's totally legitimate but simply doesn't represent you.
why is it always interracial is what im wondering

pretty cool i guess

>Have large amounts of sexual partners
>Almost half of all pedophile criminal cases

Reality supports his position, not yoyrs
First one's a stereotype with people deliberately ignoring get gay sex with glad you made a lot more easily to happen compared to Men on women or women on women which the women on women has the smallest amount of AIDS population.. Second one is just a stereotype And it's largely agree in modern society man have sex with anyone they can more than the average woman eHarmony. number three just because you had sex with someone one who is a child of the same gender doesn't make you gay that makes you sexually attracted to children it's scientifically been sown and explain countless times and it used to be a lot easier to spend apply the time alone with a child you're not related to if they were the same gender
Shut your AIDS hole homosexual, nobody cares.
different anon here
AIDS isn't a thing any more. there are free tests and pills that make it incommunicable and undetectable
>AIDS isn't a thing anymore if you take this medication for the rest of your life

All attributed to white males. Should we exterminate white males while we're at it (this destroys your argument)?

WOW and you're a racist, too?
Haha whoa!
>Almost half of all pedophile criminal cases
That's a meme that comes from people automatically assuming a man who diddles a boy is gay (even when they have wives and such). Either it's the filthy bis who are the pedos, or pedophilia and "regular" sexuality are loosely coupled.
The rest is spot on though.
>even when they have wives
I thought gay men used to marry women as a 'beard' or some-such
They still do that, but I'm talking about having an interest exclusively in boys and not going out to frick adult men on Craiglist in secret. You could argue the pedo component is more akin to being a fetish
IIRC there are a few studies showing that abusers will abuse whatever kids are in their care, regardless of their gender. Mostly involving priests who were moved to supervising girls after being caught with boys.
Basically 'child molester' is its own sexuality and while the perpetrator might have a preference those who actually act on it will prey indiscriminate of of the victim's sex. The deciding factor if whether they think they can get away with it.
Can you describe how a child grooming happens among the gay people?
saw a tumblr post saying how heterosexuality is fake because if you get raped enough in prison you come out of prison as your "true gay self".
Yeah, all those homos in the Aryan Nations, just living their #bestlyfe
>people still shock by lgbt representation
Nobody is in shock about gayness. They're in shock that writers think they can keep doing this shit to stir up controversy and hopefully turn that into sales and failing repeatedly.
What controversy? Most gay rep gets zero attention until some youtube grifter finds out about it.
They change a straight character into a gay one for controversy points many times.
TV told them to be.
LGBT in of itself is not an issue. The issue comes from they have to shoehorn it into everything and force it and make it the central focus. It creates a backfire effect because people are string to get sick of it.
>The issue comes from they have to shoehorn it into everything and force it and make it the central focus.
Would you be complaining about a straight married couple example or straight romantic relationship exam for being in something when it's not necessary needed?
I'm just saying you can have have a gay couple be a gay couple without going "OH LOOK AT US WE ARE A GAY COUPLE. LOOK AT HOW MUCH OF A GAY COULPE WE ARE"
This. Just because you're gay doesn't mean you have to be a homosexual about it. Nobody would really give a shit if they weren't being gays about it and making it their whole identity. And that's exactly why they're gays about it.
Stupid b***h, that's nationalism, that's the kind of thing that should be encouraged because it unites a country, but companies don't want that because it interfere's with more easily manipulated divided groups
Whole lotta words to make an excuse.
NTA but I hate how AAA normalgay movies regardless of genre always shoehorn in the main character having a love interest. Top Gun is one of the gayest films I've ever seen and they STILL shoved a hackneyed love story in there.
"Straight couples" are one of the most common and most biologically necessary things when it comes to humans and their civilization. In what context would it be forced?
>In what context would it be forced?
NTA but I think of the last couple episodes of Young Justice season 1, where Rocket shows up completely out of no where, unceremoniously, and gets shipped with Aqualad. They have a kiss on new year's, then season 2 opens with a time skip where Rocket has left to be in the Justice League full time, and then spends the next 3 seasons being a background character until fairly recently. They never even bother to fully establish what her powers are so it comes off as her being stuck in that episode so that Aqualad could get a straight pairing in before the end of the season.
Not to mention how Weisman isn't allowed to say that Bart is gay.
He can give a lost of characters and say "One of thse guys is gay." and the others are all in relationship with girls. He can say that ANOTHER character is gay and 'dating someone' and Bart is the only person he hangs out with... but WB stubbornly WILL NOT LET HIM say outright that Bart is gay.
Needing to frick to create more humans doesn't mean that every single show ever needs to have people fricking and in relationships...
Shit, if the argument is that showing non-straight relationships are inherently sexual, they should be against any relationships appearing in media, straight or otherwise
Everyone you know, including yourself, has or had a mother and father. It's an inescapable concept and context.
Right, but not everyone is in a relationship all the time.
So saying
>Hurrr fricking makes babies
As an argument for straight relationships not being forced is fricking dumb.
Korra Book One.
Actually all the relationship stuff in every season of Korra is unnecessary filler that takes time away from the main plot. it's just that in book one because there are so few episodes the time spent on The Korra/Mako/Asami/Bolin love quadrangle is especially wasteful.
I don't think gay shit is actually being given an undue focus, it's just that soap opera relationship drama *in general* gay or straight, takes up an undue focus in these mediums so when the people are gay it seems like it's omnipresent.
But if you make them straight then straight then it's still Mary Jane and Spider-man breaking up over and over again, or Homer and Marge having an OUR MARRIAGE IS ON THE ROCKS episode six times a season, or how in the Young Justice cartoon Superboy's entire personality can be summed up as "angry moron but loves Miss Martian"
Gay stories are shallow as frick because ALL stories are shallow as frick. They're not special.
I think you're confusing shock for disgust.
You know I decided to watch the new seasons of young justice (I was pissed off they killed my favorite character) and it doesn't bother me
Because young justice isn't trash
I guess I was shocked at how much garbage there is this whole time
Reading comics had made me sexist and homophobic.
I don't think men should date men and I don't think women should date women. It's wrong. What you are born as is what you are born with period and you can't change that. No matter how many years go by me and my future children and my children's future children will be appalled by you.
>What you are born as is what you are born with period and you can't change that.
Except when you're born gay, then according to Cinemaphile autists you were born straight but decided to be gay.
I don't particularly care about there being gays. I absolutely loathe when they change previously established characters to be gay, but for me that goes hand in hand with a general dislike for clearly unnatural developments that happen for the sake of petty drama, clickbait, shameless pandering, etc. that plagues stuff like capeshit which extends well beyond gays
>Why are people still shock by lgbt representation
People aren't shocked by it. They freak the frick out, get moronicly angry, start screaming about culture wars and grooming, but they aren't shocked by it.
Because comic publishers still act like every gay character is the first gay character ever and make announcements about it so the media gives them free publicity.
WHERE DO GAY FOLKS GO WHEN THEY DIE?
THEY DONT GO TO HEAVEN WHERE THE ANGELS FLY
GO TO A LAKE OF FIRE AND FRY
SEE EM AGAIN ON THE 4TH OF JULY
This song always confused me, especially the "See em again on the 4th of july" part
is the implication that people in hell get to leave once per year? is it a Dia de los muertos deal where they can visit their families or something?
Honestly I never would have expected hell to be so lenient.
I always took it to mean that explosions of fire were tortured sinners.
No amount of representation will ever be good enough for them. Not until it reaches the true goal of erasing and displacing every straight.
You should end it all before it gets to that point, brother. Be strong.
>Why are people still shock by lgbt representation?
Because it's gone from:
-Background characters only hinted at
-3rd tier characters who got their own occasional C-plots every 4-5 years
-Best friends (non-powered exclusively)
-New heroes who are juniour or 'next to carry the mantle' versions of B-list heroes
-Co-leads in an ensemble cast
-Co-leads in ensemble cartoons, doing lop-service acknowledgement of their sexuality.
-Leads in their own comics
-Leads in their own cartoons, actually mentioning and engaging with their sexuality
-Major long-term A-list characters normies recognize coming out
From "You could miss it" to "actually who?" to anti-racism PSAs:
Not sure how any of that is bad, unless you're of a... certain mindset.
I'm just saying that people 'continue to be shocked' because LGBT representation keeps changing.
Yes, it's a big deal that X-Men did a gay wedding issue. ...featuring a 3rd tier character marrying a civilian in a storyline that was mostly focused on the what the other X-men were doing around this event and not Northstar himself. It was a 'very special issue' focusing on a background character who went back to the background afterwards.
That was what progressive representation meant back then. Representation keeps changing so people keep being shocked by it.
To those who are offended by it, the reprsentation keeps digging in deeper and deeper.
"What do you mean Mon Mothma is dating a dwarf? And it's not any part of the story? Dwarfs can't exist unless their dwarfism is required by the story being told!"
It's not shock but fatigue. It's just become a checkbox to tick to get attention from alphabet people whose entire identity revolves around this shit
Internet autists were radicalised by secret service agencies anticipating a race war.
Jokes on them, they just created an unemployable, unsocialised subculture of homosexuals instead.
It's just this board. Cinemaphile is way out of touch with the real world. We have a lot of 14 year olds with old man brains.
>We have a lot of 14 year olds with old man brains
Worse, we've got a lot of 30-50 year olds with teenager brains, kind of idiots who still get freaked out when they see a gay or a black in their stories
i am going to read (for free) all marvel and dc comics from january, february, and march and do a breakdown on how many times people's sexualities are mentioned and see for myself who is correct. some people say it is every comic, other people say it is no comic.
People on this very forum said Turning Red is about girls whoring themselves out on OnlyFans for money. That's literally what they took away from the movie. Can't trust any of the homosexual opinions on this site.
>it's a "lgbt representation by pairing the two main girls up in the final episode and saying they're bisexual cause they showed interest in men a lot before" episode
Laziest way to be progressive and it happens too many times in kids shows, it's so funny how lesbians and bisexual women get actual characters but gay men get flamers and bi men get a married man who wants to cheat on his wife with a man or a perverted freak who wants to frick everything that moves
This is only tangentially related and anecdotal besides but this thread reminds me of a guy I knew in high school that refused to watch Cowboy Bebop because he watched the intro and it ends with a shot of Jet with his arms behind his head and the guy thought that pose made Jet gay and he wasn't gonna watch a show with a gay guy in it.
>nice try, Anon, trying to get me to watch a show about gay dudes being overly sexualized, look at that pose! he wants to frick me, Anon! he wants me to call him daddy while he teases my prostate with his 8.95 inch dick. ERECT you fricking homosexual. you know his dick is meant for bussy, don't act like you didn't when you showed me this! miss me with this gay shit.
Nah this was circa 2002 so the phrase "bussy" didn't exist yet. It just stuck in my head because of how absurd and over the top the mental leap from "arms behind head" to "Gay sex" was.
There's a lot of people out there who have fricking weird ideas of what makes you 'gay'. I knew someone who thought having a favourite song made you gay. Showing emotions? Gay. Anything other than being ready to beat up everyone around you at all times? Suuuuuper fricking gay. And I don't mean that kind of thing where teenage boys say all that shit, this guy was in his 30s
The biggest irony is that a lot of those people are the same ones that will say "queercoding doesn't exist".
Mental illness is repulsive, not 'shocking', homosexuals
Why are people still getting hyped by lgbt representation? Pic related happened in 1927
The Boys (the TV show) spelt this out pretty well in my case. Because it's not sincere, it's a cynical and clumsy attempt for big corporations to virtue signal in the hopes of expanding their markets. It's often not well executed; The Sandman had a character with a genderfluid identity decades ago who underwent similar trials, tribulations and conflicts as the hetereonormative characters in the same position before the push for characters whose identity revolves solely around their sexual orientation and not their growth and conflicts as people. As opposed to having constant THIS IS BRAVE AND STUNNING AND BEAUTIFUL messages beaten over your head harder than a Captain Planet and the Planeteers aesop, the character was given a quiet moment of dignity in death.
It's a lambasting of bad writing more than anything. Desire of the Endless being genderfluid is fine because that is how Desire do. Jo Mullein, the new Far Sector lantern, is actually fine in her debut series because her competencies, conflicts and capabilities aren't blown out of proportion or made to revolve around her sexual identity. Alan Scott being clumsily retconned into a closeted gay man reeks of a desperate attempt to revise a well-established character's history for brownie points regardless of how little sense it makes.
Because for such a small part of the population, they're overrepresented in comics.
Redheads are more over represented than gays.
Men are overrepresented in comics too. Why don't you complain about that?
They're not. Cinemaphile just has more morons who think other people are interested in their lunatic fringe tantrums than it did 10 years ago. Nobody was crying and screaming about trannies then, but now it's a rightoid talking point and they can't shut the frick up about it.
>Why are people still shocked by a measurable increase in temperature? I mean, it's already so hot the water is boiling, so what does it matter if it's boiling just a little louder?
why are people disgusted by disgusting things? we already did a social engineering campaign to tell you what you're allowed to feel.

Conclusion: Stop writing romance.
No one cares about random z-listers being gay, people care about actual cares with decades of backstory being made gay. And if they've has previous girlfriends it's always
>you were just overcompensating because you are gay
There is literally only 1 example of this
Bobby, Tim, and Jon come to mind
>Jon
>decades of backstory being straight
That’s because he was robbed of the ability to have decades of backstory
The ageing up thing was bullshit I don't disagree with that. But that's a separate thing from him now having a boyfriend.
They wouldn’t have made him gay if he was a kid still
What's your point? Him coming out as gay isn't the problem here
It is when he had a female love interest before benis fricked him up
They were both kids anon. Why would you assume Kathy was a love interest?
But he still finds women attractive, they didn’t erase or ruin everything, they expanded to whom he feels attracted towards.
Can you name a single time a character has come out as bi years after their debut and they've actually ever had a heterosexual relationship? Because I can't
I can only name two bi comic characters in the first place.
Perhaps if there were more you could see some in hetero relationships
Deadpool. But he's more like a pansexual than bi.
>Can you name a single time a character has come out as bi years after their debut and they've actually ever had a heterosexual relationship?
John Constantine.
Catwoman
John Constantine
Harley Quinn
Daken
Constantine
Wonder Woman
Daken
>Constantine
All the British import writers are a little fruity, growing up reading Alister Crowley after attending some religious-themed school, and trying to cope their oppressed sexuality. Meaning this was always the case.
>Wonder Woman
Created by a guy with kinks out the ass back before they invented technicolor reality. Lived on an island of women from Greek legend. Greece has an island called Lesbos. Meaning it was always the case.
>Daken
Yeah, who gives a shit about a literal who. Meaning it was always the case.
>Americans "discussing" politics
You have never managed to make the other change their mind or see things from your point of view. Shut the frick up and kill them.
in that comic book iceman was real iceman
Because straight, heteronormative "people" are fragile subhuman.
>americans who have 50% of their population be homosexuals wonder why american comics overrepresent homosexuals
I wonder if it ever gets awkward for those two living on Krakoa with all their neighbors preaching on and on about how the mutant race is destined to outbreed and replace the flatscans, and how anyone who isn't a mutant should be killed if they should even think of setting foot on their creepy psychic vampire island.
It will never be enough for them. You give these psychos an inch and they will keep taking and taking and taking.
>stonetoss deleted instantly
>pedophile thread stays up for days
>gaygay shipping thread stays up
>this shit with THE GUARDIAN in the image stays up
I know the mod of this board probably dilates so loud and hard it sounds like a steel drum but give me a Black person-killing break.
Because I hate hem.
It isn't so much shock as much as it fatigue. Using political correctness, corporate DEI and HR, and intersectionalism at large in media has in actuality created an environment of compliance, not acceptance.
The fact of the matter is that LGBT in its entireity as a demographic comprises of 3-5% in a given sample size. That's miniscule. That's in addition to the stigma and perceptions of sexual deviance, abuse, suidcide, mental illness and personality and degenerancy of the LGBT group as a demographic among most common people as a whole.
They don't accept you. Not truly. They're actually disgusted by you. They won't say it to your face, but still.
