True, but americans tend to ignore how ugly latinos are to go "omg latinas so hot" because they are coomers who only care for boobs and ass.

The "sexy latin" has been a trope for literally hundreds of years, homosexual. Obviously people ignore the ugly ones, just like with every race. Nobody thinks of the average British or Slav woman when they think of a beautiful white woman, just like nobody thinks of the 50 lbs overweight goblina when they talk about sexy latinas.

It's more common than you think. England (not the UK) was a bunch of Kingdoms once, Russia was a bunch of kingdoms once, Italy was a bunch of kingdoms and republics, Germany was famously a LOT of small states that were practically independent and the elected emperor was "a first among peers".

Nobody who claims SotS is racist has ever seen it. It's literally nothing but blacks and whites getting along. And no, the blacks aren't slaves. Uncle Remus may have been one in the past, but he's clearly free during the movie.

            >film is about a black man telling African folk tales, representing genuine African culture and bringing it to a wider audience, unlike today's shallow "representation" which is just tokenism
            >had actual black VAs for the cartoon characters
            >features white kids being friends with a black kid showing that kids aren't inherently racist and that's behaviour that's learned
            >has the black man be the hero of the film because the white boy finds him easier to relate to than his own distant parents
            >Disney put this out in the fricking 1940s, 20 years before the big civil rights push
If anything, Song of the South was fricking PROGRESSIVE. The major criticism seems to be that it didn't accurately portray the time period in which it was set. What's fricking new? Is there a single Disney film that does? The intention was clearly to PROMOTE racial understanding and harmony in the time it was released, not to be fricking 12 Years a Slave.

The NAACP wanted in on the movie's production and Walt Disney turned them down. They called it racist because they wanted unearned power.

A movie about black American culture made in 1946 by a white entertainment industry mogul doesn't fit the scam narrative of blacks needing organizations and politicians to rescue them so it must be buried.

I heard a story from a guy who worked at a movie theater once and he had a black woman in line talking about how she wanted to go deep into Africa and connect with her roots. The same woman found a hair on the lid of her drink and instead of getting a new lid, she demanded it be dumped and receive an entirely new drink. Keep in mind some people in deep Africa live in mud with bugs and hike ten miles to get dark brown water from a well.

        Mexican here.
The only thing Mexico produces are shitty telenovelas and shitty romcom movies, anything else is too high risk since most mexicans don´t have enough disposable income to sustain a domestic animation industry.
Mexicans might love Dragon Ball, that doesn´t meant they are gonna but the games and official merch, which is why DB games always have EN dubs but never mexican dubs despite DB being far bigger in Mexico than in USA.

I remember watching cartoons made in France, Italy, Germany, Spain... it's not as if they haven't done a single thing. But except for maybe France I don't think they are that prolific, and the most popular animation series end up being the ones made in the US, the UK or Japan.

Because the frickers who control videgame distribution here adjust prices when the peso loses value against the dollar, but not when it regains it. The dollar could go as low as 5 pesos tomorrow and this shitheads will still sell games as if the dollar was still at 22 pesos.

All of this is performative selfishness and self aggrandizement.
The reason people making these shows put representation in their shows is because in their own words it's "important." It takes conceit to believe you are saving the world with a Disney cartoon.
It's been obfuscated since the start. "All art is political." All art may contain political messages because every artist has political opinions. However, the purpose of the art created may be expressly stated first and foremost to be political or to enact political change, or the first and foremost purpose may be to simply entertain or to tell the story the artist has. Or self expression.
        Intent matters here.

But Tornado Alley isn't a neighborhood name, it's a meteorological colloquialism. Terremoto Heights being a region around a fault line would make sense.
Slightly better example, there used to be a street here named Shotwell Street where the VA hospital is. Apparently they got kind of tired of that joke and it got changed to Getwell Street

You gotta remember every ethnicity that isn’t white will try to upsell themselves as whiter than they are in their media.
Koreans do it. Indians do it. Argentinians do it. Hell, a lot of blacks do it with their bias towards the lightest of light skins.
Mexico is different from stuff like Korea because they actually have white people around, but there’s still a huge bias towards depicting them instead of more native/darker people in both 2d and 3d media.

              Anonymous

I'll give you an honest answer without an ounce of irony.
All latinamerican migrants come from the deep south and are extremely poor people who have nothing to lose, willing to cross the desert. If they survive, they'll achieve better living conditions than in South America, if they don't, they get the sweet release of death. There's no downsides to them.

White Mexicans tend to live relatively nicely, cozy lives and while the US could make their livelihood better, especially for those with higher education and even doctorates, they're not willing to lose what they've achieved just for the posibility of that being the case. Even if it's a tiny 1 or even 2-floor house, it's their house.

Legal migration is very difficult and has a lot of gotcha moments, like "if you're employed and earn well, why do you want to migrate?". The border authorities instantly reject you without even giving a reason and you can not try again for about 5 years. If you're unemployed, even if you have higher education, that's a rejection as well.

Do you have family and friends in the US and you just admitted to that? You better believe that's a life-long ban from ever entering the US, so instantly deny your friends if you have any over there. My friend managed to legally migrate as a programmer in a big American company after his curriculum and experience were accepted, and it was only through that company strongarming Border authorities he was allowed to enter, where he continues to live, working as head programmer of his sector in the company. He's the exception, rather than the rule, though, he was very lucky.

My friend was hired by Royal Caribbean as a cook and his application has been rejected because his dad lives in the US as head engineer at a company, and because of that, his permanent residence was denied... Even if it'd be permanent "in name only" as he'd spend most of his days at the sea.

Was this before or after the Biden reforms?

The luchador was Skyman, and he's honestly super fine compared to the shit that they get away with like India's representative wrestler. About the only ones they've outright changed for the purposes of sensitivity were Brocken Jr. cause he was outright wearing swastikas on his wrestle uniform, and Amazon Man for being far too fricking racist even for a series where the title character dressed himself up in blackface.

Brocken was initially supposed to be a one off and then die, but he was so popular they brought him back with Jr. Skyman is on again and off again mostly in background scenes. I know the gacha still has his figure.

Brockenman and Brocken Jr. are separate characters, Brockenman dies and stays dead, Jr arrives to avenge his father, but revenge left him nothing but a hollow feeling as he knew his father was a horrible Brutal Choujin anyway. It was after interacting with other Justice Choujin he joined their side and found meaning in his life.

its wewuzzery. spaniards were considered turbomutts even in roman times, before they sailed the atlantic and polluted their bloodlines further. add in centuries upon centuries of visigoth, arab, and CELTVC BVLL rape in the mix, perhaps only the chinese can claim to be a more bastard race.

I don't think Spainards are called "Latin".

Anyway it comes from "Latin America" which was to denote the part of the Americans were Roman Catholicism is domiant (as the Mass was performed only in Latin for centuries before reforms in the 1960s), whereas Protestant churches (and many, not just one) are more common in the US and Canada (Quebecnotwithstanding)

      >How were Disney able to make such better and more appealing hispanic characters in the 40s than anyone can today?
Back then Disney animators visited South America and were blown away by the beauty of the nature (and women) and were enamored by a lifestyle that they had never experienced before. 3 Caballeros was made with respect and affection towards a foreign culture that they experienced and loved.
Modern Disney just slaps cultural paint onto the same bland stories made by the same bland Americans that have never left their state, let alone country, because they see cultural groups as nothing more than marketing check-boxes.

        >""Frozen 2" location scouts added new Norwegian destinations to the film, including the Karasjok region, which served as inspiration for an enchanted forest; sailed with Hurtigruten to Tromso and the Lofoten Islands; and collaborated with the region's indigenous Sami people, also known as Laplanders, to learn about reindeer herding and other aspects of their culture."

"Oye Primos" is wrong because Oye is when you're talking to a singular person, if it's multiple it should be Oigan. Saying "Oye Primos" basically immediately proves that you don't know Spanish beyond a few sayings you picked up poorly as a kid.

But the bigger issue is people on the creative team losing their shit and going full SJW against spanish speaking latin americans.

Why do Mexicans hate Mexicans who live in America?

Mexican is a nationality. Not a race, at least in Mexico. So all the other reasons why Mexicans hate americans are in play. And chicanos are arrogant as frick and attempt to mexisplain to mexicans all sorts of moronic shit without even being able to communicate with them properly.

Simple example. The word Latinx. Spanish is a gendered language so it's fricking stupid to do it. There are already other words like latinae created by argie commies that fill the same position. And most damming, is that it breaks fundamental pronunciation rules in spanish. Listen to how a mexican pronounces mexico. Now try using that ch or hi sound to pronounce Latinx. The people using and supporting that word can't even pronounce mexico properly.

Call it cultural appropriation if you will.

              >"At the genesis of creating 'Frozen 2,' our filmmaking team embarked on a research trip to Iceland, Norway and Finland," said producer Peter Del Vecho, adding that location research is "crucial to building fantastical yet relatable and believable worlds."

Because the second kids see this shit, they think "wow, great idea, my old shoes are going there as well", I have personally witnessed to kids fishing some old shoes out the trash so they could throw them up on some wires. My hometown had no drug selling spots (too small, people just went to a bigger town down the road), but we had at least ten pairs of shoes up on our wires at any time, even though the maintenance services removed them.

Honestly I'm kinda tired of Mexican shows grounded in reality. They're trying to make a comedic sitcom when El Chavo del 8 is considered one of the pinnacles of the genre.

Why is it like this? Give me Mexican GI Joe, give One Piece written by a Mexican author, give me something completely unrelated to Mexico and Mexican culture but written with Mexican humor and sensibilities. I think that's why I liked Villanous. It's obvious they're in CDMX but the show's about a bunch of morons trying to scam villains.

It's like they don't actually have an idea, and they're just trying to fill a quota to appeal to the growing Mexican/Latino demographic. Frick you I'd rather watch Japanese shows then.

    Latinos loved Coco and Encanto.

Well, the creators of THOSE shows didn't call Spanish an alien colonizer language.

      Anonymous

I haven't seen Encanto but Coco felt genuine. It didn't feel like it was talking down to Latinos, it was celebrating Mexican and to a lesser extent broader Latino culture. It didn't pretend like the only valid Latino identity is that of bratty Californian 3rd generation immigrants that don't even speak fricking Spanish.

Latinos fricking love seeing themselves in media, as long as it's not insulting. Giving characters an exaggerated comedy accent like Speedy Gonzales is fine because it's funny. Getting Spanish wrong and then acting like pointing out that it's wrong is racist? That's just begging to be smitten by the full rage of every shade of non-Californian Latino on the internet.

Coco had its heart in loving your family. Especially with the grandparents. Unironically Mexicans love this kind of stuff, they’d eat it up even if there wasn’t the DdlM theme.

About 10 years back, during one of the gaps either before or after kinnikuman nissei, Yudetamago actually went to Mexico, to visit the first landing of Japanese people in the new world. They also apparently went to a BUNCH of wrestling shows, AAA, and tiny rinky dink wrestling shows. I suspect nobody had any idea who they were.

That dude who looks like a building? He's been pretty standard as an on again off again dude, but I can't remember anything specific from how fricking huge the cast is.

Can you imagine, two tiny middle aged japanese dudes in the back of your beer hall wrestling show, politely clapping, and taking pictures. And then a decade later, Robin Mask is using your finisher on a dude who's a giant toilet plunger in a claymore mine match?

Sun Man was the Mexican Choujin during the Superman Olympics arc when the manga stopped being a comedy, he was a guy in what I assume is a white costume and a sun on his forehead and flames covering the eye-holes of mask. Unfortunately he didn't have many lines.

I dont' think he's been used. I know Shonen Jump is sort of afraid of people losing their shit about race, and Kinnikuman is just the sort of series that could get into trouble for this.

The biggest factor in who gets addtional apperances is Fan pop, as is a wrestling tradition. People send in fan art and shit, and the wrestlers who get more fan shit, get more repeats. It's kept Ramen man in the game against all odds, and gave black hole and star man more appeaances.

have muscular men punch each other in ridiculous outfits

Shotas and twinks in riddiculous outfits work pretty well too, especiall if there's a hot girl. Eg Captain Tsubasa and Saint Seya.

Latinogay here. Although in USA everything is distorted into racism, offensiveness and progressism, you know, the trendy topics, all the fuss isn't even about racism.

It is just that they were all about doing things based on Latinoamérca for, you know, inclusion and stuff that it is laughable how they didn't cross past USA borders. Everything is made by americans that happens to have familia latina. Everything is wrong starting with the song chorus grammar mistake. The project shows a blatant lack of research. It looks like the team members just asked to the person next to them in the studio and that was all about it.

Man, I checked just to be sure and yes, they just pasted an English sentence in the translator and copied what Google gave to them. Google was the one in the wrong to be clear... but they didn't revised it or anything... and that shows the kind of proccess the animation "research" had.

I'm gonna give the creator the benefit of the doubt and say that she probably picked up "Oye Primos" from her chicano family when she was a kid. I couldn't handle the idea of a woman who is supposedly such a Latina and loves her Latin culture so much would resort to using Google Translate for the chorus of the theme song to her fricking show about fricking Latinos.

You got it backwards. Mexico is based entirely on the history between mesoamericans up to Virreinato. Benito, a masonic native, made it this way.
We are Mexicans because we are part them. They are mexicans because they keep on influencing us (Días de Muertos).

Me and my friends drank Corona, ate Mexican food, wore sombreros and used the few Spanish words we know during a week of one hot summer for fun. Maybe like that?

Alright. Lets try to cover this wtihout going full pol.

There's a difference in definitions. For mexicans, Mexican is a nationality. For Chicanos, Mexican is a race, because america is fricked up in how it's hypersensitive about race. Eg BROWN AND PROUD.

Hispanic is NOT a race, in and of itself. It used to be a thing in the roman empire, but nowadays, the definition was created by the US census. There's also definitions from spain and portugal, but nobody gives a frick.

You can have WHITE hispanics like Soos, BLACK hispanics like Miles Morales, Indio Hispanics like that new girl with no pants in the new street fighter.

So, if you look at the FBI's 10 most wanted list, you will NOT see any hispanics listed as hispanic.

ANGLO is similarly fricked in the difference in definitions. Anglo as england, Anglo as anglo saxon, and Anglo as anglophone or english speaker. On top of that anglo is used as a slur sometimes.

      Political/educational cartoon related.

American racial politics and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race.

All whites had to do was not fall into self hate and generational guilt but I guess that was too much to ask.

I've barely been following this but the impression I get is that this was made by and for the persepctive of people descended from Latin American immigrants and the sort of different culture that's come from it and neither Americans or Latin Americans still living Mexico and other Central American countries want anything to do with it.

Also one of the kids' name is "Pussy" in Spanish which just sort of lends to the argument that the people who made the show aren't considered to be real Latinos by non-US Latinos.

Actually now that I think about it, if this show is taking place in the US and intentionally has a US perpsective, why are people from Latin America getting mad over it? They change show and character names when aired in other countries all the time.

The broken Spanish first and foremost, it's not "cute", it's not "funny", it's genuinely like nails on a chalkboard for us. They're gringos, right? Then stick to speaking fricking English, your stupid show will probably get dubbed anyway, enough with the broken Spanish for fake "muh identity" pity points.

Also, we fricking HATE chicanos and pochos, they're loud, rude, obnoxious and have this fricking superiority complex when they come here as they're "true american citizens" while simultaneously pulling the "muhnority pity" card in the US. Pochos and Chicanos should be forced into cotton fields.

It did NOT help how the main character's voice actress just insulted Latinos for not liking the broken Spanish and made every Latino hate this show, if she just said "The main character is almost 10, a second-generation immigrant, and Spanish is not her first language" instead of just insulting her critics then the show's backlash from Latinos would have been way less intense.

Because Mexicans aren't as Thick-skinned as they're meme'd to be and can't stand it when Chicano's want to do anything that involves Mexico or being Hispanic in anyway
A cartoon from the perspective of a Chicano doesn't sound half-bad. The only people that would complain about it are the Mexicans but they have their own industry of media to look at if they want to instead

Because we hate two face people, it is that simple. Either join us in merriment like with harmless shit in good faith like Speedy Gonzales, wearing sombreros and drinking tequila or stay on your lane being racist, but don't try to walk both streets.

Chicanos are Americans when it suits them and "Hispanics" when it doesn't as if it was some switch you can turn on and off. This place talks lots about gatekeeping hobbies and how fake fans are trash. Well, it's the same principle with Chicanos being fake Mexicans and pretending they are not and even trying to school you or change things to suit them.

This is not something new to begin with, it goes back all the way to the golden age of Mexican cinema with an old saying "You are neither from here nor from there." Referring to how they end up being neither Americans nor Mexicans in their effort to have their cake and eat it.

Mexicans like acting like things don't bother them but shit like this makes them cry shit and cum their pants cause a character didn't say the correct slang or something because the "beaner" behind it is israeli or something then later scream I'm one of the good Mexicans to act tough online. I'm a beaner btw none of this matters I'm gonna go back to watching db gt now for the fifth time this week now .

They understand that they'll never pass as Mexicans in Mexico, but they like to pretend to be "real" Mexicans for the Whites. Just like dumbass NY Italians, who think they are Italian just because they know how to pronounce "conolli" and call their grandma "nonna".

Protip: if you can be racist according to Hollywood, you are White. So congratulations, Latinos.
