Why does this question offend you?
>why are you annoyed by my constant whining
I guess the better question is, if you're annoyed then why are you in this thread? You want to be annoyed.
To shit it up b***h
Shut up watter bottle face fricker
Leftists always with the projection
Get a life
Because representation matters, chud
Chernobyl was a damn good show because this is the only complaint anyone ever has. We got real lucky it wasn't a fat black troony like it would be if it was made today.
I agree where were all the black Russian and Ukrainian scientists? At the start of the Russia/Ukraine war I saw tons of black Ukrainians fleeing to Germany on the news. Those train stations were packed!
>Ukrainian scientists
in the biolabs
just another frickup by russia, failing to properly dispose of their chemical/biological weapons and leaving their former republics to deal with the mess
>russia le bad
Get a brain
my bad, i forgot that glowBlack folk snuck into russia and did this to them and exposed the locals to all the chemical weapons that they dumped there
>No you HAVE to keep water there instead of using both the water and the land for productive purposes because uh... WATER HAS RIGHTS
>resource dries up
>land becomes inhabitable and all the farmers have to frick off elsewhere
What’s the point in using it up more quickly than it can be replaced? Seems kind of like Black person behaviour
>this is the only complaint anyone ever has.
There was a gay couple in a scene for a few seconds, I literally shit and pissed myself when it showed up and got white genocided by what was on screen
It couldn't be made today because you cannot mention R*ssia in teevee today
>forgetting the girl boss nurse who knows everything about radiation poisoning while her doctor boss is a stupid bigot
Somehow this trope is okay when it's beady-eyes Diatlov bad and kind face subordinate good...
Dyatlov was right about everything. The only reason things fricked up was because of the flaw in the reactor he didn't know about.
He was a bigot
He was wrong to keep the test going and also he was mean
The worst thing is that Dyatlov wasn’t even a bad guy, he was a shit boss but not nearly as comically evil as the series. He even wrote a letter to Toptunov’s parents expressing condolences, saying that no parent should have to bury their child. It’s telling that one of the few cut scenes from the show is one of Dyatlov crying out for his dead son, as it would actually make you feel at least a small amount of sympathy for him.
That part just wasn't important to the story
More like Craig Mazin needed a Trump figure for everyone to rally around hating, despite it being contrary to the description of Dyatlov in Midnight In Chernobyl, which is where 90% of the source material for the show is ripped from.
Shoe factory guy was more Trumpy imo
Same, it was obvious from episode 1 and had some black comedy to it because you can tell implicitly why he's like that and that he doesn't really have a choice
Dyatlov is a completely tragic character in the series. He's rude and hard edged and does whatever is necessary to get ahead and then you discover he's purely a product of the way the system works and the disaster wasn't even his fault. Shit went over your head completely.
>complete hatchet job character assassination is a tragic and nuanced character
Dunning-Kruger
Meetining the politburo he's like "hey old guys shut up and listen the science"
>if it was made today.
Motherfricker it WAS made "today".
2019 is barely different from 2024.
2019 was 15 years ago.
>land becomes inhabitable
Based?
If you wanna know why they did it
If you made this thread just to complain about women >>>/b/
You already know the answer
>One woman in my 99% white male historical kino? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>white
she and the rest of the characters were russian
Name one black character in Kinobyl.
It's about the trope in general, learn some reading comprehension.
>waaaah why they do this specific thing?
>they did not actually do this specific thing
>SHUT UP LEDFTOID LET ME SEETHE IN PEACE
>sees "or"
>thinks it means "and"
Sasuga
Ebin naked miner looked pretty swarthy
>everyone shits on the made up character
>no one thinks the nurse character from episode 3 that was a 1:1 for Angelina Guskova is cool
You homies need to read more books about the disaster
artistic license + brevity, maybe
in Chernobyl's case, wasn't it combining two scientists from different cities into the one lady character? that reduces two intros and storylines down into one. and in a show with only 4 or 5 episodes that can save a lot of time for more important plot. then they slap on whatever gimmick/quirk she had to make her more interesting than those two real guys, can't remember. i do prefer the historical accuracy though
>then they slap on whatever gimmick/quirk she had to make her more interesting
She's more courageous and inspirational than all the other characters and is strong and independent and
That explains why the one time she tries to do anything remotely brave or inspirational, she immediately gets arrested and Legasov has to bail her out of jail. Why lie when you know there are people on this board who have actually watched the show?
as a consequence of Russia losing so many men during WW2, a high percentage of STEM graduates were women, her character is meant to distill the effort of those and other scientists into one person, a lot of licenses have been taken for this show, some things done for the sake of brevity, we never see Legasov's family, we are given wrong information about radioactivity to depict how it was perceived back then, the actors don't speak in russian accents to make their performance flow better, avoid silly sounds and take it more seriously.
This is all explained in the podcast as well, or even understood unless you want to be anal and take things literally, and or make a youtube video where you go "well AKTHUALLY"
>the actors don't speak in russian accents to make their performance flow better, avoid silly sounds and take it more seriously.
I never got why americans don't just hire people from the countries they make stuff like this from who can also speak english so they don't have problems like this
I'd say that is easier to cast for talent you already know than scout in a foreign country but I am sure they explained their reasons as well.
Good explanation factualbro
thank you
why eliminate the efforts of many scientists and consolidate into one character? why not just make her one of the scientists?
>why add variety to a cast of almost all boring old white men?
Oh I don't know
they wouldn't have dialogue. just acknowledge them whilst making her the lead scientist
Y'all would still complain
Because otherwise you'd have twenty characters who each say a single line of dialogue.
Emily Watson is a big get, and relegating her to one of many scientists defeats the object of hiring her in the first place
>Why spend five minutes every episode introducing a new random scientist character when we can just consolidate them into one person with a story we can follow?
It is a mystery.
when you see male only nudity you should recognize israeli feminism
Iodine nurse owes me sex
i knew this b***h wasn't real when i was watching the show
I had that feeling too but was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, then while skipping through the credits I caught part of some commentary where they said one of the characters was "an amalgam" of real life people and of course it turned out to be her. It's the same as those two white lawyers who were combined to make one black woman lawyer for that one show also based on real life, I forget the name.
