i mean, obviously there are smart people in texas...
but if you look at the full cast of characters, and even in king of the hill, most of them aren't very bright.
obviously a dig by mike judge, who began his animation career there.
texas
..and their parents probably did drugs while pregnant
yeah... Texas ain't as bad as Mississippi or Louisiana but you never really associate anywhere in the south/southwest with a great deal of intelligence
Are you bragging that you could be a pua cheaper in America's gross incest basement than in a well developed costal port city? On a American Hentai board?
Pretty sure Beavis and butthead takes place in New mexico.
Judge intended it as an intentionally vague Southwest, but the first movie included some Texas license plates, and he was fine with that so now it's retroactively always been Texas.

Ironic, Mike Judge grew up in New Mexico, despite being born in Ecuador and going to college in CA. Lots of amusing things about this guy
>that story Judge told on WTF about being a teenager in Albuquerque at his first real job and how some of the hispanic guys at work invited him out to go drinking on the mesa, shoot at cars, and beat up queers
I love this city, it's so weird and fricked up and has a real small town feeling despite having more than half a million people here
>TX
That was the first thing that popped into my head too.

yeah... Texas ain't as bad as Mississippi or Louisiana but you never really associate anywhere in the south/southwest with a great deal of intelligence
>coastalgays think this while they walk past their local skid row.
I was just in TX earlier this year and my takeaway was that everything was clean and proper. Great state.
>I'm still jealous that Texas has their own power grid regardless.
Jealous of how unreliable it is? Or the constant blackouts because it can't handle the power demand in summer which leads to people dying due to the heat? Oh, wait, you must be jealous of the massive cost spikes that people get hit with even if they can't use power because of those blackouts because ERCOT is corrupt as frick and gets to make their own rules
Texas is a shit state and won't be able to handle the growth its seeing right now and is already starting to see people leaving for elsewhere
What happened to California will happen to Texas. California is the victim of its own success and refusal to make affordable housing by getting rid of R1 zoning. The same thing will happen to Texas in a few years. Cause both states will never address the affordability problem by getting rid of R1 zoning. Once Texas gets rich enough to make housing unaffordable they will also refuse to take reasonable measures to make things affordable just like California.
Californians enjoy good weather and a higher life expectancy than the rest of the USA. It's too bad they don't make housing affordable cause it really could be the perfect state.
They are even flirting with the idea of universal healthcare. That could be a game changer. But they need to fix housing first.
I live about 2 hours away from Oregon, and it never gets above 80 and it never drops below 30,I love the climate and the lack of shit like wienerroaches. But obviously there are other problems
>texas
the problem with that theory is that their neighbors are, while idiots, still functioning members of society. Thus it must be the moronic parents doing drugs thing. Though we have seen from the first movie that their fathers are not that much better than them.
>Gets triggered when the yankees finally began tearing down all the consolation prizes that confedegays have raised over generations as their supply of copium
I've never understood the union wank. It's humiliating that as a nation we have to acknowledge that cousin frickers with potato sack shoes and grandpa's shotgun managed to last 4 years and push the army all the way to Maryland. No wonder America can't win a war.
>cousin frickers with potato sack shoes and grandpa's shotgun
You had West Point-educated generals and dudes who hunted on horses for a living, of course they made it difficult for the Union. Same with the Boer War.
You cannot go any further north in the US than I live, and I have never understood the seething impotent rage some people seem to have for the South. Do people really carry dead people's baggage generation after generation? >inb4 only replies are "grr but I really REALLY hate the south! let me tell you how hard!"
I have more hate for the coasts than I have for the heartland or southwest. Great Lakes are obviously superior though, the rest of you lose.
I'd say they aren't moronic they just live in a culture and bubble that encourages ignorance. We all know Mike Judge is a very judgmental person (fitting I know) who hates pop and youth culture, so Beavis and Butthead is his allegory for the worst case scenario for someone living in the "modern" day.
I think that's more laziness and short attention span. Mike probably just had one bad experience at a fast food joint and decided to make them the way they are at work.
He based them primarily off of MTV's audience at the time, especially heavy metal fans.
Dude was in his 30s by the time he made that show, so naturally as an older guy observing youth culture, it's going lean more towards parody if anything else.
>they go to college and walk into a lecture about how you have inherently a leg up on other people thanks to your race that effects you in subtle ways >they take it to mean they can do whatever >steal a cop car and have guns pointed at them >"Uh. Sir. I don't think you understand, we have White Privilege." >"GET THE FRICK OUT OF THE CAR SHITHEADS OR WE WILL SHOOT!" >"Um, Butthead I don't think they went to college." >"Oh yeah."
The point in Beavis and Butt-Head is they represent the direction youth were going in back then. Kind of the logical extreme/worst-case scenario if we kept down that cultural path. Although this type of freak is somewhat common nowadays a different kind of moron would have to be created to comment on the negative path current youth are going down. But I don't know if it would be funny. It would probably come off as preachy and too on the noise/political.
yes considering they are basically the same character and Hank gets along really well with people like him. Remember that episode from the show where he had a friend who acted just like him and he liked him more than his other friends?
Their dads were deadbeats and their moms were busy turning tricks, so they were raised by Television. This is the result, a direct parody of the MTV audience.
I worry that the commentary skits might not work as well as they did in the 90s considering that B&B's stupidity, while presented as the direction youth culture was going towards, was in it of itself an exception for the time.
Nowadays, thanks to the internet, there are PLENTY of morons out there that you could argue are just as bad as the main duo, and when Beavis and Butthead start to come off as the smartest individuals in said commentary sections, you know you have a problem.
They got it from their dads, especially their personalities, but it got worse due to how they spend their time sniffing glue and living without any supervision or support.
How did they ever get big? I liked the movie but the actual show is so much fricking nothing, it's just mike judge making lame crude comments over music videos.
The show is basically just a vehicle for the MTV segments, with light storytelling and the occasional lore. I personally love both the actual stories and them watching TV, since they're almost always really stupid and fun.
Beavis and Butthead have a job and friends. They're also not afraid to talk to girls or go outside. So they are already less autistic and more succesful than (you)

I'd say the cast in KotH is more eccentric rather than idiotic.
it varied
yeah... Texas ain't as bad as Mississippi or Louisiana but you never really associate anywhere in the south/southwest with a great deal of intelligence
>Mississippi or Louisiana
Makes me wonder how cheap it would be to wine and dine a Mississippi 10 or Louisiana compared to an LA 8 or 9
bump
Are you bragging that you could be a pua cheaper in America's gross incest basement than in a well developed costal port city? On a American Hentai board?
what?
Stupid people are easier subjects for humor and wacky situations.
Actually? To be honest, Highland reads more like New Mexico than Texas.
Pretty sure Beavis and butthead takes place in New mexico.
>Beavis and Butt-Head's house, located at 322 Woodson Street, Highland, TX,
Judge intended it as an intentionally vague Southwest, but the first movie included some Texas license plates, and he was fine with that so now it's retroactively always been Texas.

It's kinda both. Some vague New Mexico/Texan area. I guess it's Texas now, but early on it was vague.
>coastalgays think this while they walk past their local skid row.
I was just in TX earlier this year and my takeaway was that everything was clean and proper. Great state.
How's your power grid working out?

You mean the one that froze over last year from babby's first northern winter?
What happened to California will happen to Texas. California is the victim of its own success and refusal to make affordable housing by getting rid of R1 zoning. The same thing will happen to Texas in a few years. Cause both states will never address the affordability problem by getting rid of R1 zoning. >Californians enjoy good weather
Annual forest fires and crippling heat don't sound too good to me.
You learn to live with it
I live about 2 hours away from Oregon, and it never gets above 80 and it never drops below 30,I love the climate and the lack of shit like wienerroaches. But obviously there are other problems
Dude trying to defend California and blaming all its issues on housing is the most hilarious thing I have read, thank you
Butt-head mom probably did
>texas
the problem with that theory is that their neighbors are, while idiots, still functioning members of society. Thus it must be the moronic parents doing drugs thing. Though we have seen from the first movie that their fathers are not that much better than them.
>drugs while pregnant.
This
I've also always had a theory that B&B were possibly inbred. It's pretty obvious; they were poor white trash after all.
Why are you moronic?
I'm moronic because I was born with autism and my mom smoked with me
>my mom smoked with me
woah, hey beavis, this guy's mom smoked with him. that sounds cool
It's funny.
bunch of seething yankees itt
>Gets triggered when the yankees finally began tearing down all the consolation prizes that confedegays have raised over generations as their supply of copium
>Thinks Robert E. Lee wasn't the baddest motherfricker just because he wore the wrong colors.
homosexual.

You had West Point-educated generals and dudes who hunted on horses for a living, of course they made it difficult for the Union. Same with the Boer War.
That kind of thinking would have cost you dearly in the war, Yankee.
You cannot go any further north in the US than I live, and I have never understood the seething impotent rage some people seem to have for the South. Do people really carry dead people's baggage generation after generation?

I have more hate for the coasts than I have for the heartland or southwest. Great Lakes are obviously superior though, the rest of you lose.
>Do people really carry dead people's baggage generation after generation
Sadly yes
They watch Tv all day
uranium in the drinking water
So you can relate to them.
They're a criticism of (You)
Well, the Gen X (You) of 1992
It's funnier that wE'RE GONNA BE TALKING ABOUT THE PENIS
Those guys better Uranus uhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuh
lead in petrol
Dropped on their heads as babies.
Judge knew something was wrong in those vaccines before anyone else.
They were raised on MTV.
I agree with that evaluation but Beavis and Butthead are genuinely stupid since they can't even comprehend basic tasks they're given.
I grew up in 00's New Jersery and can say that B&B are pretty accurate representations of kids that grew up on MTV in late 90's/early 00's
The system failed them.
It failed all of us
White privilege
>they go to college and walk into a lecture about how you have inherently a leg up on other people thanks to your race that effects you in subtle ways
>they take it to mean they can do whatever
>steal a cop car and have guns pointed at them
>"Uh. Sir. I don't think you understand, we have White Privilege."
>"GET THE FRICK OUT OF THE CAR SHITHEADS OR WE WILL SHOOT!"
>"Um, Butthead I don't think they went to college."
>"Oh yeah."
Great satire.
This. Fortunately they went to college and learned a powerful lesson about it and changed their outlook.
How moronic are they? Could you torture them to stop being like all around so dangerous to others
Jealous that Beavis and Butthead can enjoy things in life, OP?
Yes
(laughing)
The point in Beavis and Butt-Head is they represent the direction youth were going in back then. Kind of the logical extreme/worst-case scenario if we kept down that cultural path. Those boys ain't right.
How would have Hank handled them? Ignoring the charcoal grill, would Hank be friends with Anderson?
yes considering they are basically the same character and Hank gets along really well with people like him. Remember that episode from the show where he had a friend who acted just like him and he liked him more than his other friends?
I memba Hal
Hal liked Hank a little too much if you ask me.
Don't give Gay Hank poster any ideas
>Anderson talks about butane in positive light
Hank would kick his ass.
what the frick
there's Uranium in the drinking water in Highland, this was mentioned in the first episode of Daria

Were Beavis and Butthead the original angry video reviewers?
Maybe not specifically angry video reviewers, but definitely the original "react" guys if that makes any sense.
The (now over ten year old) remake did just fine making fun of MTV's reality shows.
I think canon explanation is a gas leak
>texan gen Xers in the early-mid 90s
i'd be more surprised if they weren't moronic
They got it from their dads, especially their personalities, but it got worse due to how they spend their time sniffing glue and living without any supervision or support.
wow
How did they ever get big? I liked the movie but the actual show is so much fricking nothing, it's just mike judge making lame crude comments over music videos.
The show is basically just a vehicle for the MTV segments, with light storytelling and the occasional lore. I personally love both the actual stories and them watching TV, since they're almost always really stupid and fun.
>Wow! Even smaller than I thought!
Why was she thinking of their dick sizes?
Why does putting butthead to other artstyles make him look like Jimmy Neutron?
Did the new movie have anime references like every other cartoon revival?
How did Beavis know about an obscure Roman god?
Butt-Head I mean
Because it was associated with a stupid topic he interested in
gross
I forgot about it, but one thread said that they've severe cases of fetal alcohol syndrome
Thanks Satan
Beavis and Butthead have a job and friends. They're also not afraid to talk to girls or go outside. So they are already less autistic and more succesful than (you)
damn homie
Anyone got a mega or torrent for the original series? Wanna binge watch it before the new season comes out.
Go find The King Turd Collection. It's uncensored and has the music videos included.
Thank you!
I torrented it years ago but never got to burn them onto CDs so I never watched the episodes.
cuz the show would be boring if they weren't. wise words from mike judge.
Have you ever talked to a 15 yr old boy?
>Imagine calling a couple of 500 IQ geniuses “moronic”
Christ I hate newblood trash larping like they’re some union general to shit on the south exclusively to get brownie points from Black folk
123?
They just are, some people are like that.
