The point is that they're REcasting them. Roles and classic characters that used to be one race are now another and overriding what everyone knows.

the great flaw in the diversity on screen idea is the assumption that more diversity = everyone being satisfied. In reality, it only leaves everyone unhappy. Blacks want to see mostly Black movies. Whites want to see mostly white movies. Indians want to see mostly Indian movies, etc....
Mass diversity is only going to leave everyone dissatisfied.

again, there is a flawed assumption that people of all races in society are going to happy with media representation that is strictly proportional to population percentages. Or that they wouldn't prefer media that mostly reflects their own identity.
