royal tenenbaums is one of my favorite movies and i like darjeeling limited too, it's comfy
but i thought the hotel one was insanely overrated, the dog isle one was dumb, life aquatic was too cartoony, and don't get me started on the pedophile one
french dispatch was hit or miss
at this point i'm just kinda done, i've had my fill of quirky wes anderson movies, same way i don't really look forward to watching anything with keanu reeves and never will again, enough is enough
Wes Anderson films were all great through Moonrise Kingdom which was probably his GOAT then he did that massively overrated hotel one which was like a conscious flanderization of his otherwise pretty varied style to the point of ridiculousness and now it seems like every film that he's made afterwards is just more of the same and I've stopped caring.
He should have followed Fantastic Mr Fox and pivoted to kids films adapted from classic midcentury IPs. I'd love to see him adapt shit like Nancy Drew or the Hardy Boys or do more stop motion Roald Dahl films or Maurice Sendak adaptations or maybe even try and tackle The Little Prince.
Life Aquatic was probably his 2nd best film after moonrise and it's a masterpiece of sight gags and situational humor. Very similar to the 1960s Peter Sellers Pink Panther films that way.
People like Moonrise Kingdom? It was easily one of his worst live action films.

I have never enjoyed a single Wes Anderson film. The quirky bullshit ruins any and all immersion and kind of makes me want to be violent.
Like that time you started raging because a sparrow flew into a tree?
it's annoying how anderson only picks these super popular actors for his stuff, i would at least have more appreciation for him if he went and found diamonds out of the rough

Yeah i hadn't seen slot of the movoes he referenced until recently. Kino homages
The first critically praised AI generated film will be indistinguishable from a Wes Anderson film.
Legit Theres dozens on YouTube hay
Haven't seen the last one yet, but I honestly don't think he ever did a bad movie. The only one I'd call moronic was the dog one but even that is worth watching for the animation. I also don't get the people calling the hotel one massively overrated, I found extremely funny, probably my favourite with royal tennenbaums and mr fox. French Dispatch was pretty mixed. The framing and second story are a waste of time but the first and third ones more than compensate for them.
people trashed Life Aquatic back when it was released. His style has changed a lot from those early movies so not true that he makes the same movies over and over again. Writing partner does seem to make a difference

For literally any director >Anon likes popular thing
is maybe worth one tepid picture-less "this" comment, >Anons aggressively loves an otherwise stellar director's extremely moronic and ill-directed shitpost movie about a man who drinks his own pee or whatever
is worth 20-30 replies over the course of a thread
Asteroid City was good, people have been saying he's been self-parodying himself for a decade but that one seriously felt like he was making a mockery of himself. It was depressing. The AI-generated quality of the script is probably intentional. Despite all that it still had his soul.

He's literally me fr
Filtered, buzzworded and brainlet take
>fr
>complains about other people using buzzwords
wes fans are brain damaged

did you enjoy Rushmore or the fox one?
i don't remember them well enough to say
but i don't think i actively disliked them or anything
Wes Anderson films were all great through Moonrise Kingdom which was probably his GOAT then he did that massively overrated hotel one which was like a conscious flanderization of his otherwise pretty varied style to the point of ridiculousness and now it seems like every film that he's made afterwards is just more of the same and I've stopped caring.

He's allegedly got another Roald Dahl film coming out on Netflix later this year
Wes Anderson's The BFG or The Twits would be fantastic wbtpj
"Danny, Champion of The World" as a G-rated Rushmore for kids
People like Moonrise Kingdom? It was easily one of his worst live action films.
You just got filtered. Moonrise Kingdom is the spiritual successor to Rushmore and they're both easily his best films.
i don't want to frick kids, so that might be the issue here
Who's trying to make you frick kids?
I don't even like Moonrise Kingdom, but you are the one making it about that. No one else seriously looks at it in that way.
Did you never like a girl growing up? Her name was Sam
mr fox is ok
same
also never enjoyd any oliver stone and any spike jonze
reddit core

You actually sound like you enjoy the films of Wes Anderson.
>why can't he make good films again
>posts one of his worst reviewed films
>muh reviews
Embarrassing post
when he switched Owen Wilson to Noah Baumbach as his co-writer the work took a crooked nose dive.
Timothee Chalamet has to be shoe horned into everything so he can’t tell original stories
it's annoying how anderson only picks these super popular actors for his stuff, i would at least have more appreciation for him if he went and found diamonds out of the rough
So tv no longer likes the films of wes Anderson?
Did this film even have a single joke in it or was it just Bill Murray being le quirky eccentric moron
What about asteroid city? Worth watching with mommy milkers at the kinoplex?
No its basically a music video
Theres some visual gags
Life Aquatic was probably his 2nd best film after moonrise and it's a masterpiece of sight gags and situational humor. Very similar to the 1960s Peter Sellers Pink Panther films that way.
Life aquatic filtered me for decades
Life Aquatic also overtly references The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai a lot, another masterpiece of sight gags and absurdist situational humor.
I loved Buckaroo Banzai as a kid and so when I first saw Life Aquatic in the theaters I knew exactly what Anderson was doing and absolutely loved it.

I’m just glad he brought us Kara Haywood.
The problem with Wes is his actors are so pretentious that the movies have no rewatch value.
Wes Anderson is a mawkish manchild
he's never made a good movie, all his shit is effeminate crap
you probably watch anime
Not an argument and I don't anyways
rattled
cope
dilate
seethe much?
Asteroid city was fun, but it didn't make me feel anything. Some of his older movies stab me right through the heart.
What went wrong? I heard it was too meta im not waiting til August to see it
I know people love to rush to calling things reddit, but this film is reddit incarnate. Awful film.
Why is Cinemaphile so predictable?
>the most popular one is shit
>that other one that isn't well known is good
Wow thorough analysis.

it may shock you but some people (including me) actually just enjoyed LA more than GBH
his movies got more and more gimmicky with time, now they look like a parody of a classic wes anderson movie
he peaked with life aquatic
ive only seen this and moonrise kingdom. both highly based. after mk he got too well known. so i would skip all those and watch the older stuff first
Asteroid City was good, people have been saying he's been self-parodying himself for a decade but that one seriously felt like he was making a mockery of himself. It was depressing. The AI-generated quality of the script is probably intentional. Despite all that it still had his soul.
>I wonder if it remembers me
My favorites from him are:
1. Fantastic mr fox
2. Rushmore
3. Hotel Budapest
4. Moonrise kingdom
Rushmore and Bottlerocket are his only two good movies. It’s been down hill ever since.
Can't argue with that
I don't remember anything about this movie except that I felt like I never wanna see it again.
