I've been here in Japan for 5 years and both of your views are skewed. Japanese women cheat like no tomorrow. The western idea of love does not exist in irl relationships, only in media like anime. Christmas cake is definitely a real concept. The Japanese idea of love is like a business partner, you have kids then sex stops and you start seeing a side girl. The bro type relationships common in the west and in anime are not real here, of you are looking for anything like anime it didn't exist, is extremely exaggerated. It actually gets even lonelier when you finally become fluent in the language. There is a reason the gaijin bubble exists. Also the country is being flooded with poojeets of all smells and countries, and Muslims as well

How is it an anime trope, it's literally what the guy he's responding to is referencing and speaks volumes as to how the culture views promiscuity. East Asia as a whole, actually. Unmarried women who sleep around are considered undesirable, especially past 25. They're pretty open about the narrative fact that all a promiscuous woman is good for is pumping and dumping and it's not something as a woman you'd want to end up as

There are plenty of romantics here anon. But you are not a romantic and clearly have a chip on your shoulder over white women. You are idealising media designed for teenagers and believing that’s what the women are like from that culture, because of missing out on young love in your own. That’s like a Chinese person watching Hannah Montana and thinking that’s the average American teenagers experience. It’s nobody’s fault you didn’t experience young love, but it is not true love.

You are comparing eastern kid media to western adult media. And yes, the japs themselves see anime as a kiddie or neet stuff. Of course stuff for children includes good morals while adult media includes complex and corrupt characters regardless of country. Actually most japanese live action movies for adults include even more corrupt characters than western media, because the jap movies don't try to teach morals for adults.

    >cater to men
Found your problem. We don't do that anymore. And even if we did, it generally doesn't look like an anime high school romance. If you want a goyslop example of 'adult romance for men' then see the dynamic between Daredevil and Elektra in the Netflix show. A strong rough guy with issues who has a simmering dynamic with a sexy woman who chose him because he's ''special'' and yet he agonizes over being with because she's walking temptation and stands against everything he believes in.

Two teenagers taking an entire season/6 novellas to stutteringly confess their feelings before sharing a chaste kiss and some handholding isn't what most guys find romantic. If anything it's what schoolgirls might might romantic before one two many dudes ask them to put their hands down their pants. Fricking highschool.

The answer is that white people have no soul.
    No, really.
Everyone took a specific period of the '70s, '80s and '90s as the norm when it was an outlier, a dream of the legacy of beatniks and ex-hippies that arose when the US capitalistic engine staked its entire economic power behind visionary artists and dreamers to placate its population from unrest following the ugly reality of the Vietnam and Korean wars and to restore the pride of the US.

Ones that defy the conventions of subversion (aka, the hero actually gets the girl with little trouble and they actually live happily ever after).
I'm thinking Big Fish is a pretty good romance story, among other things.
Last Christmas is a good one too because it's about deep love and connection and not sexual attraction.

        >conventions of subversion (aka, the hero actually gets the girl with little trouble and they actually live happily ever after)
Honestly? That's usually how it actually works out. Every relationship I've had has been that way and had a natural ease, a click, where we just enjoy being around eachother, Every single girl that flirted but withdrew/played games was always a disaster waiting to happen or just stroking her own ego, and vice versa I've never known a girl that would have had to 'win me' that I wasn't already repulsed by in some way.

I knew the sweetest, most kind hearted girl possible, but she was massive, and I just couldn't look past it - even though I was lonely too. That loneliness at the time made me give a date a chance, and I really regret it to this day, because it was uncomfortable as frick and I probably gave her false hope, AND relations with people we both worked with went down hill later and I suspect it was partially because of it.

Ease is what you want in reality, even if it doesn't make for entertaining TV.

Could be because they watch a lot of media where the world's centered around a single person.
Could be that they watch that kind of media because they want the world to be centered around themselves. If we can extrapolate from other kinds of anime (e.g. isekai being watched by people who want to escape reality) then this is the more likely scenario.

anime romances cater to beta men 95% of the time.

They all follow the same structure:
    >boy is shy but secretly likes girl
    >meet cute happens where boy and girl now have to spend time together
    >boy and girl start to like each other
    >boy becomes eternal beta orbiter around girl
    >finally gets the courage to *GASP* hold her hand/kiss her cheek/shyly imply he likes her
    >time to introduce random girl number 2 and forget that boy and girl like each other

huh? Just because so called anime romances are moronic as frick? How about creating one where there is actual character development instead of beta orbiting around a bunch of girls?

It's "incomplete" for a lack of a better word. Like the "boy and girl pretend to be a couple for some reason and end up liking each other" is a great romcom trope. As is the "misunderstanding ensues through eavesdropping".

Anime just stops at middle. There is no "ok we like each other lets be together" moment. There is no romantic kiss or some sort of closure or some development like it.

For me the funniest shit ever was this one anime where the guy "rents" a girlfriend to spite his ex (which as far as romcom setups go is a pretty good one) but instead of the girl falling for him and them growing closer through their fake dates he just keeps simping for her and ends up paying this b***h thousands.

Like this shit is more psychological thriller or horror movie than romance or comedy.

I crushed on a girl for 3 years and just looked at her from afar and kept bumping into her non-stop. She was a cute girl, kind of tomboyish but also really cute. I never made a move due to my social incompetence which convienently seemed to disappear as I left high school. I could have been a person. I could have been happy. Now, I'm a shut-in NEET that probably won't work a day in his life due to settlement money. I haven't spoken to a woman in 5 years. I lead a pretty idealic NEET life but the fact is, I missed out on the most blissful time in a person's life. A love with a girl in the prime of his youth. I will never live this down and will die with the song still singing in my heart. I wonder if heaven is reliving your greatest dream or if hell is reliving all those moments you missed out on and regret like that scene from Interstellar.

    Two reasons:

    1. Culture. The 1960s and the sexual revolution removed a lot of the filters that kept sex behind closed doors. Romance is in large part motivated by the sex drive, so why not go to the heart of the matter

    2. Biology. For women sex and romance is more psychological and so stories about it are more appealing to them. That does not mean men can't enjoy them too but the men most likely to enjoy them are lonely men for whom sex and romance are distant hopes more than something real

In French Canada, it is illegal for a woman to take the last name of her husband. Love is illegal because if people actually knew love, do you understand the resulting effects? Love makes children of course, it also makes you more wary of strangers, as in less acceptant of mass immigration. Knowing love also makes it evident that homosexuals can never love, and thus reveals them as abusers.

Love seems innocent and yet it goes against all what our traitor government tries to push, hence why they push atheism instead of the supposed opium of the masses (religion), because it makes you unloving.

How dare a writer make a love story for the big screen!? That would go against homosexuals, israelites that want less whites in the country, feminist prostitutes that want men to commit adultery, etc. Isn't it evident that there is a conspiracy against love?

Paranoid? It is illegal for women to take the last name of their husband, it's written in law and it's proven that women who love their husband actually want to take his last name.
It's proven that ocytocin, the hormone of love makes you more wary of strangers, hence immigration.
It's proven that homosexuals don't love from their hueg amount of sexual partners and STDs. Love is only possible between a man and a woman, homosexuality is an abuse ergo it's against love.
It's proven that israelites prefer a multiracial country with no majority.
It's proven that feminists are pro-prostitution, hence adultery.
It's proven that Hollywood is full of israelites and homosexuals and feminists.
It's proven that the state want secularism, that is atheism instead of the supposed opium of the masses.

No it dates from 1981 and an interesting consequence of this that that children born after 1981 have increasingly been given the last names of both of their parents as a choice, since women can no longer express their lack of love by choosing to not take their husband's last name, they resort to plaguing their children with 2 surnames and once they get children of their own, they have to choose one of their parents as if it was a divorce.

        Don't be a moron, anon.
Most romance movies not aimed at teenagers feature people in their late-20s to early-40s. Most romance movies are also about people getting together, because apparently that's what the romance audience prefers to see most. That means most romance characters realistically had previous relationships in their past, because people don't usually delay dating until well into their adult lives. Hence why dead wives/husbands are so common in the genre. It keeps the character effectively pure without them being a 35 year old socially awkward turbovirgin.

Japs are actually overworked, cynical and adulterous.
The reason their media is so cutesy is escapism.
Even the people who animate stuff like this are under a ridiculous crunch.

I'm sorry, are you implying that that doesn't also apply to whites?

White people kinda suck at romance these days because all white people are a dangerous combination of cynical, self-hating, and autistic.

I'm white and told my Japanese GF I'm not a coward and would murder her if she ever cheated on me. She got really horny from this and I don't think she knows I'm serious.

Why would you lie? If you were black you wouldn't be able to plan these things before hand and would only murder her for not aborting the baby not cheating.

If he was black he also wouldnt have a white gf as white women are the least likely of all groups of people to racemix.

A ton of anime do air at around 2AM.
In my country, there used to be a channel for airing anime, and they aired it in the same moronic time slots as the japs, and the channel wasn't even airing at all at other times.

Futa is, like other anime manga shit, fantasy. All the messed up shit in hentai doesn't mean actual Japanese people are more degenerate sexually than anyone else in the world.
Westoids are the ones who simply can't differentiate between fantasy and reality.

Romance isn't basic to humanity. The idea of romantic love is a fiction responsible for countless divorces.

I used to think that romance as a genre was only for girls until I realized that for romance to occur, a man needs to be involved, hence I was under the effect of a psyop which I then cleansed by watching anime for 15 years.

If you want romance go find someone to love. If you want to hear about romance make friends. If you want romance fantasies do mind altering drugs.
Art has never, nor will it ever, be romantic. Objects aligned in such an order to trick your mind into thinking they are real. They are not. It is not romance. It is a farce. A lie. Your goal is pic related, not romance. Any wonder women love the "romance" genre?

Not liking the west doesn't mean you want to be japanese fricktard. Japan is just one of the few countries to make half decent fiction nowadays as opposed to the west

A western show with the plotline of Amagami would be interesting on a technical level, yes it's based on a dating sim (which is essentially a genre banned in the west) and the plot points can be erratic or bizarre but it's conceptually interesting. It's like a more complex spin on Nic Cage's The Family Man.
