Because MONEY. Sure they could have let Snyder make his 5 shitty movies and then completely reboot with a better cast but they NEEDED MONEY and Marvel HAD money so they needed to be Marvel and instead of doing anything smart they did what WB has been famous for since 2010 and made the most moronic fricking decision possible
Because they were run by morons.
Battinson is a new beginning
They're rebooting with Keaton tho. He's even rumored to appear in stuff like Aquaman too since he's the main Batman now, not Pattinson.
They aren't rebooting with Keaton, they already rebooted around Birds of Prey its just the movie that rebooted the universe is never coming out
>the movie that rebooted the universe is never coming out
Depends on whether or not the girl Ezra kidnapped turns up dead.
>they already rebooted around Birds of Prey
>The movie that fricked up Cass
Frick.
they werent using her anyways. barbara is literally just starting out in her movie even tho keaton is like 70.
that's why there's no batman but references to bruce wayne. because it's keaton.
Battison is his own universe
Not happening. They didn't make the Nolan movies canon with the Snyder Superman movies (which they should have) they aren't going to do the same with the Pattinson Batman movies or the Todd Phillips Joker movies. It would be the smart move. But it's not going to be the move they make.
Besides. By the time they finally have a good cinematic universe going the Superhero movie trend will be far past it's sell by date and fans will be moving onto the next trend, and Hollywood will be moving onto the next genre to ruin with politics and racism. It's sad that the entire Superhero movie trend will have come and gone without a good DC movie universe, or a good Superman movie trilogy. But it's just the sad reality. Cope and move onto something else.
>It's sad that the entire Superhero movie trend will have come and gone without a good DC movie universe
Look on the bright side; we kept many of the normies out, this way. Now Marvel is hampered with a bunch of casuals who they think know shit because they watched a buncha inaccurate movies.
While we just get to appreciate shitty movies because the studio wants to appeal to the MCU normies. Not sure how this is a bright side
Anon do you realize normies are the mayority of the population?
The normies are the reason the DC movie universe is in the pits it's in. because they keep recycling the 'Superman is boring' meme, which encouraged DC to edgelord him up. Which ruined everything DC related that came after it even implicitly.
Without a good Superman movie trilogy as a strong foundation. There is no DC movie universe worth existing.
They don’t need Superman. They just needed to get Batman off the ground but they didn’t even get the chance to.
Batwank is the problem.
>They don’t need Superman.
Right. Lets just let the biggest Superhero, the reason for the genre even existing wallow in the shadow of freaking Batman forever!
Batman is the biggest superhero, as evidenced by the fact that he's WB's go to and gets forced into every franchise. Pic related is almost no longer a joke.
DC's problems all stem from them having no faith in any character other than Batman, and trying to turn every other character in their library into Batman. For gods sake. The Lego Batman movie outright called them out for this!
Yes but the problem is Lego Batman was successful so they felt justified in tripling down.
so successful WB sold the Lego rights before making a sequel
Batman is literally the second highest profitable comic character, it's not rocket science why DC uses him so much
If that's the case, Then just sell everyone else except Batman and make a Batman and Batman character cinematic universe without Superman Wonder Woman etc. Let the rest of the DC world have their own cinematic universe without Batman and his clown boyfriends popularity ruining things for everyone else.
I've come to hate Batman because of how much damage he's done to the rest of the DC brand because of his popularity.
That's not how it works moron, you don't stop marketing your best seller to push something new, it's stupid and will lead to you losing money. If something gets popular on its own merits, great, otherwise you stick with what works
>Lets just let the biggest Superhero
That's Batman
Who exactly are the most popular heroes rn? I know Batman and Spidey are up there, but who else? I would guess Ironman, Captain America, Wolverine and Supes.
>t. batgay
>The normies are the reason the DC movie universe is in the pits it's in.
No, WB is. Normies would drop that dumb "le superman is BORING!" shit in a fricking instant if WB committed to making a good Superman film that stays true to his character.
Just read comics, anon. The movies were always going to be aimed at normie audiences with normie sensibilities.
>Normies would drop that dumb "le superman is BORING!" shit in a fricking instant if WB committed to making a good Superman film that stays true to his character.
Superman returns was (for the most part) true to his character. Didn't stop it from boring the shit out of people. A live action Superman movie that is true to his character and isn't played for camp like the original Chris Reeves movies willl fail. Face it. Supermans relevancy as a character and viability as a brand name isn't coming back. Accept it and move on.
>A live action Superman movie that is true to his character and isn't played for camp like the original Chris Reeves movies willl fail
Well, camp is a part of his character, so it wasn't actually true to his character, then.
Exactly. Which is why you can't have him exist in the same universe as a Joker and Batman. Adam West Batman wouldn't make sense in Nolan batman universe, neither would a good non-evil version of Superman.
>Exactly. Which is why you can't have him exist in the same universe as a Joker and Batman.
Sure you can. Hell, it'd be even better that they're different sorts of characters--the juxtaposition would be interesting.
Batman turns everything dark and depressing and brings down the mood just by existing. It's why they never had Iron Man or Captain America crossover with Dardevil or Purple Man. There's no way they'd be able to keep their heroism around something that dark. It's also why Supermans rogues gallery doesn't have bad guys as messed up as Zsasz or Scarecrow.
>They didn't make the Nolan movies canon with the Snyder Superman movies
So dumb. Obviously I wasn't present in those negotiations, and I don't know the people involved personally, but I just highly doubt there doesn't exist a boatload of cash big enough for them to keep Christian Bale on as Batman.
I think Christopher Nolan was the piece that was preventing those two movies from being connected. I wouldn't think he would want his work to exist in a shared universe with super human fantastical elements. And for a while Warner Brother's biggest priority was keeping Nolan happy.
Proving Snyder wasn't the start of the pretentious filmmakers ruining DC Superhero movie trend.
You didn't have to keep Christian Bale. You could have cast an new actor to play an older version of Bales Batman but brought back Gary Oldman or Joseph Gordon Levitt to let the viewers know it was Nolans Batman.
Nah you are
People are already getting capeshit fatigue. A muddied reboot isn't going to help.
could've been worse. It could've been the Universal Monsterverse
I can't imagine how moronic someone would have to be to think making a shit movie, realizing it's shit, and scrapping the entire thing. Is some how WORSE than what DC is doing now.
At least DC isn't doing as bad as Sony's Spider-Man villainverse.
Well it's kind of hard to do worse than THAT trainwre- oh... turns out you're full of shit
You're right I am full of shit. I must now pray at the church of Morbius and ask him to forgive me for my sins.
It's okay. If current DC had a movie that made $800 million or if Sony's villainverse gets three more movies below $300 million then you won't be full of shit. But untill then say 3 have sexes and a poop my pants
2 of those films were released during Covid lockdowns
And none of them are as low as Morbius
>$166 million and $167 million
>not as low as $163 million
DC fans brining a whole new level of stupid
So did Venom 2
Morbius is making bank from rentals and blu rays
>Superman movie inspired by the Donner one
>Worlds Finest movie
>then do Justice League
it could've worked if the writing and tone we got wasn't fricked
This. Hopefully one day DC will realize that people want campy fun not dark and gritty "realism"
>Nolan makes the best capeshit of all time by adapting a dark character's comic book source material
DARKNESS SELLS THIS WILL UNDO SUPERMAN RETURNS
People hated the change to WW84 because it was le campy and colorful fun time. Joker made over a billion, The Batman was a hit. People want DC to be serious, to be darker.
One of the rhings I like about the Wonder Woman films is that they allow her to be heroic and for wholesome moments to playout without them being undercut by a quip or comedic relief.
Actually the lighter stuff was the best part the whole scene in the mall was great it was only after that with the weird wishing stone, Cheetah, Israel, and her raping a dude with Steve’s face did it become a bad movie
One day you'll realize that you don't count as people. Hopefully that's the same day you realize you're an idiot.
What are you even trying to convey? You legit aren’t making any sense
That mall shit was cringe as anything else in that movie.
No it's because WW84 was a really badly written film and it looked like shit with the jankiest CGI in recent superhero films.
Didn't Shazam do well?
Aquaman was campy and colorful and it was a huge hit
that is all they had to do, its like they thought of that exact outline and instead decided how can we subvert this and make it as edgy as possible
So what are they going to do about that Flash movie?
Nothing. It needs to happen so they can reboot.
It's barely a reboot. It's just the normal DCEU but with Keaton and Supergirl instead of Batfleck and Cavill
Well they can't put it on a shelf because every other DC movie depends on it. They'll probably just take the hit and put it on HBO Max
man of steel was an awful abomination
they knew they coudnt have marvel like success with such a rotten foundation so they rushed to make the most bux
It's better than the vast majority of marvel flicks.
That's not even a high bar. Also, probably not true--they're both shit, just in different ways.
I don’t even like the majority of Marvel films but that is just straight untrue MoS was garbage and Cavill deserved better
This, thank god they took that year long break after Justice League so people could forget what came before and fully appreciate the kino DC has been pumping out since Aquaman
They needed the distance between the old garbage DC movies and these new great ones so people could get the awful taste out of their mouths.
They screwed up with Green Lantern.
if that was better than DC would have destroyed Marvel by this point.
Man of Steel made $1 billion adjusted for inflation.
It was a success.
>Man of Steel made $1 billion adjusted for inflation.
668 million USD.
What inflation are you using, bitcoin?
Because the longer you go between films, the less interest you generate and in the blockbuster era, one bad flop is the difference between existence and bankruptcy
Seriously, how hard is it to just get THIS on the big screen.
He's a bit TOO cheery and happy-go-lucky. He needs to have that chad 20th Century modesty in his delivery.
Does anyone even watch Superman & Lois?
No. If you want that shit, just watch Shazam. Oh wait barely any DC fans did.
DC didn't want to be accused of just copying Marvel. Plus the Nolan trilogy was their best success ever so they decided to keep making movies along that vein
And just look at them now.
They'd have been better off giving the Arrowverse or Injustice big screen adaptations than what they actually did. Questionable writing aside, they had enough fangirls/dweebs consuming both to make that shit work in the short term.
>the Flash is terrorizing hawaii and kidnapped a kid
>Aquaman has a psycho as the main female lead
>Superman doesn't know if he wants to come back
>Wonder Woman cant act
>Batman quit
>Cyborg keeps pointing out how racist the studio was to him
>Superman doesn't know if he wants to come back
No, he knows he wants to come back. The problem is the studio wants to replace him with CGI Christopher Reeve
>The problem is the studio wants to replace him with a brick-bodied Latina
FTFY.
They're replacing Batman with Batgirl too but they still want to have Keaton. If WB could have gotten the rights to his likeness they would have 100% made Supergirl Reeve's daughter or grandaughter
>Aquaman has a psycho as the main female lead
To be fair from the 70s to the mid 2000s Mera was an utter Psycho ex
What went wrong with Ezra?
Drugs are the only reasonable explanation.
Was anything ever right with him?
Why does he run like a disabled person?
This is the only casting I disliked tbh
He was molested as a child
Poor guy never had a chance to have a normal life.
>Ezra Miller the person would make a better supervillain than Ezra Miller playing a superhero
Her sister sounds like an awful person.
What an actual homosexual.
would have totally hit that as a lad though
like tummy sticks with shota Ezra? dressed in makeup with long hair and stuff?
diamonds.
holy shit he looked so similar to the little boy he just got accused of molesting
>Cyborg keeps pointing out how racist the studio was to him
Being asked to act out the script isn't racist Fisher.
WB has high turnover when it comes to execs. They wanted to get something done ASAP because they knew they wouldn't get a lot of chances to show they deserve their positions before they either get moved to a different position or let go.
Anon, many of you don't know this but white collar business is a revolving door and has always had high turnover. Many of you look at Disney and saw that Iger was at the helm for decades and think that's the norm, it's not
Actually it kind of is. What's going on at WB? Where the heads are kicked out after three years due to massive incompetence? Turns out THAT'S what's not the norm.
That is the norm believe it or not. The company I work for has had three different CEOs in five years and executives are constantly leaving when the next best job offer comes
I think Avengers 1 making 1 Billion+ in 2012 threw them into a panic. It's when many people really understood, "Oh, this MCU thing is here to stay."
>I think Avengers 1 making 1 Billion+ in 2012 threw them into a panic
DC had two billion dollar films by then
the dceu is fine so shut the frick up u ass kissing mcugay
>no superman
>old man Batman
>Ezra Miller
>Amber Heard
>Last three movies flopped
No
They should have done an inversion. Start with a JL movie and spin off whoever gets the best audience reception.
>Why couldn't they have just been patient?
Because by the time they spent with the slow buildup the Superhero movie bubble would have popped and they'd have lost more money than they gained. Especially after endgame mogged them and kept them from getting any future comparable profits because of unfair comparisons. They're just throwing shit at the wall to get what little money they can before the Superhero movie trend dies. In short. They just don't care, and i don't expect that to change even after the discovery merger.
>Because by the time they spent with the slow buildup the Superhero movie bubble would have popped and they'd have lost more money than they gained.
Avengers came out only a year before Man of Steel. If they’d just kept a steady flow of material they’d have only been like one “phase” behind Marvel really. Hindsight is 20/20 of course but they didn’t need to rush because “fatigue” has only recently begun to set.
>fatigue is setting in
The last 2 MCU movies made half as much as the entire DCEU (SM:NWH + DS:MoM = 2.85 billion vs the entire DCEU at 5.8 billion WW)
The Covid movie did poorly and it's hard to say how much better they would have done but it's hard to deny they would have done a good bit better seeing as BW was a simultaneous release on D+
The real panic at WB began when Thor 2 came within a few million dollars of outgrossing Man of Steel.
That's when they scrapped the plans for a Superman trilogy and told Snyder he was doing a Batman v. Superman movie as the SURE FIRE CAN'T MISS film.
...and the story of that movie is just the 'Death of Superman' movie he always intended for the second film in the trilogy with Batman awkwardly stapled onto it.
Snyder NEVER course-corrected. Even when told to make a diffewrent movie he just kept making the one he originally intended to. Disregarding the fact that the REASON he was being asked to make a different movie was because no one liked his 'vision.'
Standard objectivist bullshit.
At a certain point it wasn’t even about patience. It was about commitment. WB wanted it perfect right away but it wasn’t. However they still had something that the MCU wasn’t providing, and there was an audience there at least curious to see what could be done. But instead of powering through the fumbles and experimenting to see what audience they could accrue, they kept slamming on the brakes to retool, and eventually wasted so much time that everybody just gave up. They’re trying to reboot the continuity with a Flash film 10 years after Man of Steel which was only 4 years before Justice League bombed. The truth is the MCU has had plenty of frick ups too, but they have better PR and an ability to drop plot points and mistakes until they can circle back and boast they had a plan all along. WB meanwhile is like a deer in the headlights, throwing away whole scripts and plans the second a negative review comes in. Hell even their good films like Shazam get no prioritization, the sequel should’ve already come out and we should all be waiting on the Shazam & Black Adam crossover with Cavil’s Superman, but Shazam 2 is still waiting for release and the kid playing Billy is gonna be like 20 before we get to 3. WW84 was so bad it killed all good will towards the Justice League cast, and even though Zack was forbidden to use Green Lantern for his JL film they don’t seem to be fast tracking a Green Lantern film anyway.
They could have done what the X-Men movies did. Lead with the team movie introducing all these characters through a point of view character. Like Wolverines character was introduced to the X-Men they could have used flash or Batman for a Justice League movie right out of the gate then if it was a hit, then done the standalone movies.
The worst part is that Flash was meant to wipe the slate clean and start over, but now it might never happen, despite future films already following on from it.
Flashpoint is gonna bomb. If not because the movie itself sucks then because people will be so disgusted by the main actors behavior that they stay away.
Assuming they don't just bite the bullet, accept the massive loss, and dump it on HBOMax.
almost like it's a stupid fricking idea to film five movies before the first one's even out yet
I mean fricking hell not even Sony does that
At this point WB needs to take a scorched earth approach to it and start over. Cut the cord, recast literally everyone, start with a brand new trilogy of standalone movies for every character. Even Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam. Keep Battinson, and maybe make his trilogy canon to the new universe after Reeves finishes up his trilogy. But otherwise? Scorched earth. Then after you have a Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman trilogy. Then you do the teamup movie. Oh and don't call it Justice League, that brand is tainted because of the failure of the first one. Call it Worlds Finest or The Trinity or something.
Which is exactly what they aren't going to do.
Of course they won't, they're too stubborn to admit they fricked up.
For frick's sake guys, at least Universal saw the writing on the wall enough to give up on the Dark Universe.
>For frick's sake guys, at least Universal saw the writing on the wall enough to give up on the Dark Universe.
Yeah. But they only made one movie and unlike Superman. Nobody gives a shit about the fricking Mummy or Jekyll and Hyde.
Shut up boco you nig
Right third time's the charm after all
>Batman v. Superman got a standing ovation from the suits
>Anyone watching Hack Znyder's abortion and not immediately seppukuing
What did DC Comics mean by this cover?
That The Flash was in the middle of molesting some kids when he got the JL call
I am genuinely curious what moronic shit for brains thought this was a good idea, even setting aside his bizarre crimes and actions. Who is this appealing to at all?
Muschietti can draw
With actors aging and not recasting. I say marvel is too fast too. There are more stories to tell , but actos will get old and retire fast.
One nothing wrong with me
Zack Snyder immediately went for the old grizzled Batman and it was a bad idea. I know he's obsessed with Frank Miller but he should have been patient.
I disagree, it was the best way to do it if you're going to do Batfamily as you can just start with Tim.
>Zack Snyder immediately went for the old grizzled Batman and it was a bad idea.
On the contrary. I think it was his only genuinely good idea
That wasn't the problem. DC had well known characters. The films were just shit
Unironically Think Alan Moore Curse DCEU. He practices wizard shit. Not "chaos magic" or wiccan meme tumblr witch stuff-- I mean old-school wizard shit. He said he put a curse on DC and Zack Snyder for making Watchmen when the movie adaptation was realesed. Then, when Damon Lindeloff did Watchmen, he apparently sent a letter to Moore asking for "advice". He said Moore responded, but didn't feel comfortable sharing what he had to say. Now, after the fact, Damon Lindelof is open about saying Moore put a curse on him, too. He hasn't been a showrunner or written for a show since 2019, merely executive produced something.
If Moore is such a great wizard why wasn't he able to stop being cucked by his wife for another woman?
Because WB is a purely reactive company that doesn't take initiative like Disney
t. WB fanboy
>t. WB fanboy
Really? After the last 15 years?
So is Ezra still missing or what
No, Ezra is literally just at his house
His address is
240 Maltese Road
Stamford, VT
