I think what really pisses me off about Ian's Eggman is how wishy-washy he is about the character. And it's not like they can't make game Eggman threating. Post Reboot Eggman was about as far as you could push the Doc before we start stepping into Pre-Reboot. The world still saw him a threat that needed to be dealt with, but aside from GUN, no one else could (outside of Sonic and friends).

Nega was obviously not originally from the future. The Rivals games weren't even released in Japan. Sonic Team was too lazy to give Silver his own original villain for the game, so they just settled for the closest Eggman recolor they had and that was Nega, and just gaslighted the fandom by saying he was from the future with no explanation for his presence in Rush.

If Sonic was intended to be anywhere near death they conveyed it horribly. He gets up, makes a dumb quip, had 0 damage while Surge was the one who was on the floor.
Surge beat Whisper, Metal Sonic, and Eggman (only with a temporary powerup but still). Stop trying to headcanon that all her encounters with Sonic resulted in anything other than a massive L for her.
