She's the poster child for wasted potential, and for a character in the Sonic franchise, that's saying something.
This doesn't fucking help. Hey, what if Scourge but a tomboy and sympathetic qualities? Sounds nic- Oh wait, we're just not gonna do anything of substance with her? ... Okay.
>People hate her because she told the truth
Yes, but the comics don't work because you just can't use the "batman does not kill" stuff with Sonic, Sonic does not kill because he is a cartoon hedgehog for children. In this Sonic comic Sonic itself feels out of place, the world is miserable, a new danger appears every week, there close to none time to rest or rebuild anything and some cute animal critter character have actual war fladhbags, all while being saved by a sassy and cocky hero that never cares about anything and does not even want to join the resistance cuz HE IS TOO COOL FOR THAT
Yeah also they have sonic preach to damn much. As you said he's a hedgehog why must he be bound by childish morals and rules. He really has the potential to be great but they keep fumbling it by having him do completely asinine things like spare schizos and forgiving characters like surge. I think most of surge's hate comes from the fact it almost feels she was created specifically to make sonic look dumb but his morals didn't change they actually got worse. So her whole arc is a waste of time like all the other arcs, I do like sonic letting stuff breeze by him it's part of his charm but their has to be a limit and some level of fuck this no more messing around.
For all the hate of archie sonic being overly edgy and assholish, I'd rather a mix of archie sonic and idw sonic as at least then he'd be a fun type of asshole again. I think that's why people meme schizonic so much because sonic with a god complex or who is uncaring unintentionally is better than one that cares so much he just let's terrible things happen.
Is she talking about freedom for all or just his villains? In terms of villains its true that Sonic should at least make sure they go to jail or something, since just breaking their things doesn't really stop anything. I don't think he should murder them, but they should pay some consequences for their mistakes, and jail time isn't out of the question for a silly animal world.
If she's talking about the whole world then she's stupid, freedom is fine and it's not Sonic's responsibility that some random guys want to rob a bank with their freedom.
Should I blame Flynn's incompetence or Sega for IDW's boringness? I recall they enforce autistic mandates like "money doesn't exist in Sonic's world" and "No humans except Eggman" and they only recently eased up on trying to force Shadow to be diet-Vegeta, but at the same time very few of the OCs made to compensate feel like they made an impact.
Both, but you should also blame Evan "Heterosexuality isn't allowed" Stanley for it too since she's been the head writer for a while now.
It's gotta be both. The SEGA mandates are what force Ian and Evan to focus on the boring OCs, but I can't imagine that SEGA mandates the horrible decompression that fucks up IDW's pacing.

On one hand, I can't blame Sega for maintaining a deathgrip on American writers after Ken Penders managing to win a lawsuit through Archie's complete retardation with that contract fire, and I have a funny feeling that if let off the chain, Ian and company are going to do completely retarded things like have Blaze become Asexual or confirm that "Silver is Shadow's descendant" theory that's floating around since Black Knight. But at the same time, I feel like the inability to let writers go full autistic in cordoned continuities prevents any of the cringy but memorable moments during the Sally era, so we're just shown a whole lotta nothing.
It doesn't matter how much you try to avoid it, Silver WILL be Shadow's descendant. If Sonic is Goku and Shadow is Vegeta, Silver is Trunks. If Sonic is Dante and Shadow is Vergil, Silver is Nero. It's unavoidable. The sooner you accept this, the better.
The biggest issue is that Sonic can't lose, so there will be months of build-up of the next challenger, often cruising through someone like Metal Sonic who is allowed to job, before they get curbstomped by the blue fucker. Makes everything pointless.
The characters whose popularity sticks tends to be the new heroes because they aren't required to lose to Sonic eventually and so there can be more interest where they are going.
Considering how the Metal Virus mainly consisted of Sonic taking numerous L’s and being called out by his friends + failing to turn Surge over, I think Sonic is allowed to suffer losses. But it’s just that, in the end he’s gotta turn it around and save the day. So yes, Sonic can 'fail' but he can't 'lose', because there’d be no story.
The only people who call out Sonic in MV was Shadow (who the comic repeatedly portrays as an idiotic asshole) and Espio who apologizes to him immediately afterwards. Sonic was never intended to be in the wrong in that story.
Same with Surge who’s mad Sonic won’t lay down and die so she can do whatever she wants.
Sonic’s intended to be a perfect good guy in IDW, the bad writing just makes him come off as an asshole.
Both:
Sega could loosen the collar and let the IP be explored within reason. Put aside the Ken shit of Archie and they had a good balance with letting the world develop with the occasional mandate that they shill a game.
Ian could also suck it up and realize that the claimed mandates are not allowing the game characters to breathe. He could just shift to writing classic style minis or one off fluff adventures. The book wouldn't reach Archie highs or deepest lore, but it would at least be entertaining for that jolt of blue.
Both. The mandates were put in place to prevent the new continuity from being anything like Archie but instead of going in a different direction, Ian and Evan try to recreate it under those heavy restrictions but without those twenty years of context and character development for it to make sense. This creates an unsatisfying reading experience for both old and new readers.
I think both, but i'm going to blame more on Ian.
Even with alot of restrictions, good work can be made. Ian's issue is doing the same shit Penders did back in the day, focusing too much on his own OCs and personal tastes in detriment of the reader's enjoyment.
Legit i don't know any of my friends who are still keeping up with IDW thanks to this boring and contrived Mimic arc with the girls.
Spiderman TAS is a great example of something that worked around ALL it's crazy limitations and restrictions and made something wonderful.
>The Restoration/Diamond Cutters is the new Brotherhood of Guardians
Good lord, I can see the connections now. I don't think we're going to lucky a second time with them getting thrown into the Twilight Zone again.
I thought she was hot, but IDW was retarded and made her constantly job. How can an antagonist be interesting if they never have even the slightest chance of winning?
Yeah, it'll either be sonic or kit. Kit will do it like a nice guy, basically thinking he's helping her or deserves it. Sonic would do it in the most humiliating and bullying way, probably making her beg or feel helpless and pathetic the whole time.
>Either way surge will need tons of therapy and have more trauma.
You wanna know the funniest part? Shadow could have been a tenrec if the Japanese devs knew what tenrecs are, because they are unironically known as "fake hedgehogs" in the wild and there's a species that's black with yellow streaks
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lowland_streaked_tenrec
The short version is that Madagascar basically said "Eh, two mammals are plenty" and had hundreds of different varieties of lemurs and tenrecs evolve to fill pretty much every ecological niche.
I honestly wonder what will Penders family do with all the copyright stuff he's got after he passes away.
Certain comments of his seem to imply played a huge part in him pulling his original stunt of copyrighting shit after Archie told him they didn't have a copy of his contract, but what about his offsprings?
Scourge went Super Scourge and beat up the entire cast at one point, and all Sonic could do was run away until his superform wore off. That's better than getting bucketed and blowing a fuse.
>all Sonic could do was run away until his superform wore off
Not well versed in Sonic, but against a form that is invincible that's probably the only option.
>all Sonic could do was run away until his superform wore off
Not well versed in Sonic, but against a form that is invincible that's probably the only option.
It didn't wear off because the Anarchy Beryl works differently. Sonic had to trick him into powering down.
He's evil sonic, not murder sonic. His whole joy was beating the shit out of people. So killing was never his goal to begin with. Otherwise he'd of offed Rosy long ago.
With how many fights he won, his record is far better than bucket head.
Why the fuck did sonic tell water boy that she died without even CHECKING for a body? He should know from personal experience that his opponents have a tendency to pop up again.
In his defense she fell like a mile down with tons of debris and metal falling on top of her in a weakened state. That's pretty dead as hell, plus this is a new sonic so maybe less death experience.
>If anything it's on drippy for not say "oh nah she's fine we are literally immortal."
Sonic wouldn't do this
He literally would, if anything he only got less aggressively assholish and bullyish when they changed the writing to surge being a innocent victim and sonic completely forgiving her. Weird writing was all over the surge arc.
>Also a lot of us like the schizonic memes especially when mixed with jobber/crybaby surge.
>sonic beats surge >Sonic forces her into a frilly pink dress >Sonic parades her around town making her apologize to citizens >Surge hates it, but she also kind of likes being forced and humiliated >"Oh god I'm a bottom" she thinks
But yeah the thought of schizonic humiliating and bullying/dominating surge into slowly becoming more feminine and having to wear cute clothes. She hates it at first but slowly it becomes second nature, she used to hate putting on makeup sonic had to pin her down and put it on here much to her chagrin. Now surge wakes up and puts on make up and her cutest outfit she can't wait for sonic to compliment her then she immediately realizes how pathetic she is telling herself she's being forced to do it.

>surge post forced to wear dress by schizonic >Surge looking at new dresses to wear >Not that she likes it or anything >Especially not the feeling of a stronger guy making her be feminine and forcing her to do things >She's a strong badass girl she thinks to herself >as she looks at the dress sonic gave her in the mirror
You are completely missing the point of Surge if you think she was supposed to be a threat. Her entire point is that she’s an extension of Starline’s failure. Dude’s still finding ways to fail beyond the grave. He created Sonic and Tails clones without even understanding Sonic and Tails. She’s Sonic as seen through the eyes of an Eggman fanboy, a dimwitted speedster that can’t accomplish much beyond mild destruction. She’s supposed to be a shitty Sonic bootleg, and that fact infuriates her. She’s supposed to be tragic, not a threatening villain to beatdown.
>didnt market her as this huge big bad for the comic
You have fuzzy memories, senpai. Starline repeatedly pointed out in several ways that they are not a match for Sonic if Sonic has any kind of support or if Surge is fighting Sonic one on one. The only way they could beat Sonuc is if they pick off Sonic's support system and her and Drip work tightly as a team against Sonic or any other foe that would kick their ass.
He even detailed why the ideal scenario was hard to happen without his manipulative control because Surge is a psycho bitch who leaves Drip behind and Drip is two weak in several areas to keep up with Surge. The unsaid part is that they also are just not smart enough to form a big plan like Starline, who himself is hamstrung by his obsession with Eggman.
Surge is strong enough to try but not enough to ever succeed. She is however psychotic enough to kill people or herself trying to kill people.
Wow they really couldn't state she was doomed anymore than that. Who's going to win, the guy the comic is named after looking smug or that green whatever at the bottom.
We've HAD tragedy. We've had page after page of Belle and Whisper all sobbing melodramatically about their uninteresting backstories, over and over and over. They even had Tangle and Whisper cry over a TEAM NAME. Riveting stuff, right? Meanwhile, the villains are either vainglorious boobs like Starline or powerless punks like Mimic and Clutch.
This comic doesn't NEED another crying OC, it needs a menacing villain, and for every arc to be about half the length.
Fair enough if you are tired of Whisper crying over stupid shit, but I don’t think the comic should remove tragic storylines because of two bad characters. Surge actually has a reason to be depressed that isn’t over bullshit like Shitsper.
This. The whole point of Starline is that he's a fucking moron who's incapable of thinking any deeper than surface-level about anyone, and thinks he's smarter than everyone else. He completely misunderstands why Sonic and Tails work, and his opinions on Eggman end with his disillusionment and eventual death.
I really want to read IDW and give it a fair shake at some point, but I feel like I'd be reading it more just to understand why the fuck it got so popular because it always felt oddly artificial to me. Like the only reason people care about it is waifus and shipping.
And I don't have any interest in being a tribalist archiefag or anything considering how frankly shitty it could get at its worst (and it has the same issues with its fandom) - but that one oddly felt like it was a more natural product as Ian Flynn reworked it.
I just don't know Cinemaphilemrades, I might be a fag about this
Why did Cinemaphile forget about Surge? Did you hate her that much?
I love it because I'm a ryona psychopath and genuinely enjoy watching women suffer. Thankfully I posses too much empathy to enjoy it IRL though.
The comic 100% is just girls crying for 64+ issues and introduced a 10/10 psychotic character named Mimic for me to self insert as. His MO is literally he just wants to bring pain and suffering to a particularly fragile gal named Whisper. There's another character named Dr. Starline who mindbroke another woman named Surge and then uploaded a copy of his mind into her brain to control her even after she helped "kill" him, kind of like Tarantulas and Black Arachnia.
It gets me fucking rock hard, this might be one of my favorite western comics.
>His MO is literally he just wants to bring pain and suffering to a particularly fragile gal named Whisper.
He honestly doesn't even have to try as hard as he does to do it, he could probably just send her a rude email once a week and probably still get her to break down in tears.
>lost her family in front of her >lost her faithful companion >lost her friends >still tells whisper to fuck off and to have better resolve
She was more based for that one scene than whisper in her entire panel time.
>Like the only reason people care about it is waifus and shipping.
Zoomers are just like this, look at any series dominated by zoomers and its overwhelmingly gay, and all about shipping and waifufagging.
Yeah it was because even if she has good Rule 34 even characters like Blaze or that sheep girl have stuff which takes their personality into account. With Surge it feels like no one knew what to do with her besides give her a massive futa cock and make her ANGY!!!!
It's run by a skeleton crew at HardLight Studios that only occasionally implements new characters, then ports them over to Sonic Dash, which unlike Sonic Dash 2 is still being maintained.
I mean surge is pretty fucked up if you think about it. It’s this random lab grown tenrec is a brainwashed and essentially lobotomized into being a scourge, who slowly tries to grapple with experiencing any emotion or independent thought outside of the 1 note persona created for her.
It's funny to me that writters that don't hide their yuri fetish tend to ruin alot of things, or at the very least, that focus becomes the worst thing about a series.
>What if Sonic had ANOTHER rival that still can't beat him even when all the cards are in their favor (what is this like the fifth one in the games alone?) >But this time they cry alot!
Hey, no I'm cool. If we can skip right past that it would be great.
yeah really lanolin worked best as a pet project side character, now she basically taking a bit of amy's and whispers position. She's the biggest rookie but somehow can order around mainline/experienced characters. We know she's ABT fave and oc but come on it just makes her annoying.
I didn't forget. They forgot to make her do anything interesting. Plus, I never really liked her. The only people who gave her the time of day were coomers.
Sega doesn't seem to count those classic super forms where it's just the character pulsating a brighter color.
Everyone can have those, even Mighty and Ray. Maybe they just see it as a gameplay feature and not strictly canon.

He's not wrong. In current classic canon, Tails and Amy need the Super Emeralds to go super. Super Sonic and Super Knuckles are canon forms caused by Chaos Emeralds. All else (Mighty and Ray) is just Super Powers.

US copyright protection lasts for the length of the author's life plus another 70 years. So even if Penders dropped dead right now, his work would still be protected until 2093. And that's assuming he died right now.

Penders work will likely be protected well into the early 2100's.

Don't know why everyone is so surprised, this has always been Sega's stance.
Remember in Sonic the Fighters when everyone can use the Chaos Emerlads in the final boss but only Sonic actually transforms?
Remember in Sonic Heroes where Knuckles and Tails just get a shitty golden shield?
Even classic Super Knuckles didn't fully turn pink like in comics and fanart, clearly Sega never thought of it as a true super form.
>Her using other stuff is allowed, it's Chaos Emerald Super forms that Sega has a problem with.
Really? That's a weird but okay loophole that I'm surprised IDW hasn't taken advantage of. The Sol Emeralds wouldn't make sense and neither would the World Rings or Excalibur so I dunno. Is there anything else in the games that gives Super Forms?
Knuckles should at least in theory be able to just depower super-formed people akin to S3&K.

I would kill for a story where Knuckles gets to be a Super Buster, but it would also be stupidly convoluted. It would need to take place at the end of a major arc, and there would need to be justification for Sonic, Shadow, or Silver fighting Knuckles (and others) in Super Form, and it would need to not have another typical IDW shitty ending. Otherwise, the argument would be “Knuckles only depowered X because of status quo.”
Counter point, I wouldn't want every character to have super form either and considering how most people are, they would do just that if you give them an inch.
The male hedgehogs rule is fucking retarded. Knuckles deserves a super form a million times more than a shitter like Silver does.
Male hedgehogs being the only ones to have golden Super Saiyan forms I get but only them having super forms period? That's dumb. If Blaze was introduced any later I bet they wouldn't even let her have Burning.
They could let Knuckles access burning or something similar and it would make sense. He has already had fire powers multiple times throughout the games. Even the newest one gives him fire powers.

He should make like Neo Metal and transform with the Master Emerald
She needed to steal Eggman tech to do that. She doesn't have that anymore so she's back to being completely worthless. The whole dynamo cage shit was a complete mistake on basically every level. It made her design worse, it makes her look like a colossal jobber when Sonic with a broken leg dunked on her with a bucket despite having a new power-up. She somehow put up a better fight against Sonic in their first encounter despite having no whisp powers and no experience against anything besides badniks, that whole arc really just cemented Surge as a complete failure.
There was no reason for it in the first place. She was basically a brand new character. Evan could have just had her discover she had energy absorption powers, it would show she can grow and improve. As it stands the entire ordeal was completely pointless.
>Evan could have just had her discover she had energy absorption powers, it would show she can grow and improve
Could still happen as a consequence of her overusing the device.
The real issue is it's fucking gone now. Narratively it makes it seem like she blew her best chance.
There was no reason for it in the first place. She was basically a brand new character. Evan could have just had her discover she had energy absorption powers, it would show she can grow and improve. As it stands the entire ordeal was completely pointless.
She won against Whisper.
>Surge goes to Angel Island and gets a powerup from the Master Emerald while Kit distracts Knuckles >portrayed as stronger, faster, and an actual threat
I mean, it worked for Scourge.
Why is the tie-in comic for Sonic stuck in this weird ass limbo of irrelevance? It feels like this is some time capsule shit from a writing team who has no newer source material than Sonic Forces.
Forces made it part of the status quo. The ending left it open for it to still be a thing after the game. It's now a background element they can tap into or ignore anytime they like, just like with GUN. It only takes one game to add something to the status quo, just like Frontiers added Sage.
That's status quo for the comic, buy if it isn't the persistent "normal" in the games, it's not really status quo there.
But that's what I find so weird, that the IDW comics are so deeply ingrained in the lore of one game that's not really relevant anymore.
>That's status quo for the comic, buy if it isn't the persistent "normal" in the games, it's not really status quo there.
By that logic alot of things wouldn't count, like GUN.
pretty sure the comic forgot about her to as really that is what the modern comic amounts to is forgetting things that have happen continues to take ages to ever put out a comic.
She's a "rebel against the status quo" in a series where nothing is ever allowed to happen. Being self aware enough to realize that doesn't make her a good character.
I hate it because it completely misses the point of the character. He's supposed to be a paper tiger bully that crumbles under anyone that has the audacity to stand up to him. That's why Sonic is such a potent counter to him, because he gives people the inspiration to do just that, on top of being more than capable in taking him on.
Him fighting back and beating the shit out of characters physically gives the impression that ONLY Sonic can defeat him, which goes against everything the games set up.
>He's supposed to be a paper tiger bully
Then he's not a threat to anyone. This is why him getting upstaged by other villains is so common in the games.
>Then he's not a threat to anyone.
Precisely, that's the joke. He talks a big game and puts on a big show, but it means little when he still gets punked by a seven year old girl at the end of the day.
This idea spawned by SatAM/Archie where he should be some unholy fusion of Hitler and Satan totally misses the point and charm of the character.
>He's supposed to be a paper tiger bully that crumbles under anyone that has the audacity to stand up to him.
Since when? He spent the entirety of SA2 making GUN and the president his bitch. He was an equal match for a completely alien threat like the black arms.
That's yet another crutch of Ian's writing, in that he's only capable of providing meta commentary rather than anything substantial. The fanbase whines about the "meta era" but the writers of Colors/Lost World/Boom weren't the ones that made it a literal universal constant that Eggman can't defeat Sonic, or that Mammoth Mogul is cursed by the Powers That Be(tm) to always lose.
Ian's a one trick pony, and that trick is winking at the audience so hard it looks like he's having a stroke.
That's not meta commentary, that's Ian trying to justify keeping around a character that was hyped up as an omnipotent villain and jobbed embarrassingly every time.
That is, no joke, the precise moment when people actually started liking the character a bit.
IDW is only worth reading for Metal Virus, Scrapnik Island and Surge. I recommend just watching YouTube videos about those stories instead of actually reading the book.
I don't know why you think that, the Metal Virus arc was a painfully protracted mess that didn't lead to any payoff for any of the "drama" it was trying to push.
>Scrapnik Island
Admittingly this one was nice, a good example of why IDW would be better off doing unrelated individual stories than any ongoing crap.
>and Surge.
Oh fuck that, Surge and Kit were like standing three hours in line for a roller coaster only to skip the actual ride and go straight to the exit.
I haven't read IDW TMNT so I don't know how they handled it, but this comic doesn't really try to introduce characters as if they're brand new to the audience. If you know shit about the characters you may be lost a little. If you don't care about that then it's worth a try.
Yeah, its ok. After Metal Virus, the comic starts doing shorter stories that are divided into A plot and B plot that usually merge at the end.
The official reading order is shit, as its mostly the release order and spoils mainline stories. Tangle&Whisper should be read with Annual 2019 before Infection, Annual 2020 should be read after The Last Minute, I'd argue that Bad Guys is better after Chao Races & Badnik Bases. And Imposter Syndrome should be read after Overpowered, as should Annual 2022 too.
T&W and Annual 2019 take place before Metal Virus and don't spoil Metal Virus as far as I remember. But they break the tension of Metal Virus if read during. Annual 2020 spoils several events in The Last Minute and can act as a breather before the final stretch. CR&BB released simultaneously with BG and spoil each other, but reading BG before CR&BB is more of an spoiler. Battle For The Empire and Overpowered is better without having IS introduce and explain the characters motives and origins before Sonic learns them at the end of Overpowered. Annual 2022 stories take place before and after BFTE and OP.
It's not horrendous or anything but it feels like it has no plan or goal, especially regarding the original characters who keep being introduced before the last one gets to really do anything important. It has a continuous story but it really doesn't feel like it's going anywhere or leading to anything as exciting as what happens in the games.
If you eat and breath Sonic and have nothing else to read, give it a shot. But put it on low priority if you have pretty much anything else In your comic backlog.
It seems to be much better if you don't know Sonic. Anytime a character quotes song lyrics from the games, I just think its neat, but long time fans start selling IDW stocks.
It's offensively stupid at times, like "someone was actually paid to write this?" levels of bad. Examples include Whisper spending more time as an infantile crybaby who can't function without snuggling with Tangle every 3 minutes as opposed to the stoic badass she was sold as, Sonic constantly paragoning, Surge's motivations for being evil constantly changing and Belle's entire existence.
I can't believe that she's still having meltdowns over her dead friends. Just let her move on already.
>People hate her because she told the truth
Yes, but the comics don't work because you just can't use the "batman does not kill" stuff with Sonic, Sonic does not kill because he is a cartoon hedgehog for children. In this Sonic comic Sonic itself feels out of place, the world is miserable, a new danger appears every week, there close to none time to rest or rebuild anything and some cute animal critter character have actual war fladhbags, all while being saved by a sassy and cocky hero that never cares about anything and does not even want to join the resistance cuz HE IS TOO COOL FOR THAT
I can't stand the fact that Flynn decides to broach the idea of "why Sonic won't kill Eggman" then gets uppity when people start arguing about it.
You shouldn't have brought it up in the first place!
Second it really suffers from the fact that it's not allowed to change the status quo from the games. What this means is that all the established Sonic characters who lead the stories have to remain as these immovable icons while actual change and emotion is funneled through side-characters created for the comic.
This is literally the excuse the IDW Sonic writers give whenever somebody criticizes them, despite the fact you can tell they're desperately trying to write something "deeper" than the actual games do, and not doing a very good job at it.
>actual change and emotion is funneled through side-characters created for the comic.
Besides Starline dying, these fuckers have all been stuck in place outside of minor developments too. Sometimes there's an early change, like Whisper or Surge seeming badass in their intros but then they turn out to be pitiable balls of misery. Alas, after that initial reveal the wheels keep on spinning in place. Surge, Kit, Belle, Whisper. They are all given this character baggage with nowhere to go with it.
Given Surge and Kit are coming back in the next story, it raises the big question if Ian's promise of them staying villains is going to hold up, or if Evan's gonna Evan and they'll be redeemed.
>What this means is that all the established Sonic characters who lead the stories have to remain as these immovable icons while actual change and emotion is funneled through side-characters created for the comic.
But is this truly the case? The IP characters do emote, and they do change but that change is within the context of the comic. Like, Sonic can decide that he wants to become a chef in one issue, then decide hes been chef long enough 2 issues later. You just can't write that Sonic dies and gets replaced by Sunyc from dimension X to continue writing Sonic into stories, or that Knuckles and Tails are now dating, or that Amy loses her arms and has them replaced by robotic arms that look just like her real arms.
Its better that the comic is for children. Not that IDW Sonic is free from this, but american "adult" writers only understand maturity as relationship drama of exes and excess sex. Unless they have a crisis understanding that comics are inherently not mature and start teaching grown adults how to vote responsibly through the medium of children's comics.
>You're obviously not aware of how tight the restrictions are.
Are you saying Sonic cant be a chef?!
Really though, every IP has restrictions. Restrictions only restrict story elements or depictions but restrictions cant prevent Ian from writing well. He chooses to write mediocre on his own.
There’re annual stories about Sonic getting a driver’s license and Amy drawing fanfiction of her friends, the 'mandates' are not as restrictive as you think
Yeah, there's no "mandate" saying that half the comic has to focus on a bunch of crying lesbian OCs. IDW sucks because Evan is a shipping-obsessed fanfic writer and Ian doesn't give a fuck anymore.

>Don't kid yourself Jimmy, if Evan ever got the chance she'd turn Sonic and everyone you cared about gay!
When it comes to Evan, mandates are a necessary evil.

True.
I used to think the anti-crying mandates was the dumbest thing I ever heard but after seeing how much Tangle and Whisper cry I wish every character had mandates.
Is there an actual trope name of literary term to classify the deal in the IDW comics about Sonic constantly getting called out on his choices to never end his enemies which let's disasters keep happening and yet nothing actually happens as a result of said calling out?
I want to say Chekhov's Gun, but I don't think that's correct.
The way she got introduced still feels so fucked.
Instead of introducing Surge and Kit, setting them up as a reasonable threat, then slowly revealing their backstories and having them ditch Starline, Flynn dumps their entire story at once before they even face Sonic. Then he has them go rogue for five minutes before fucking off.
It's like he gets an idea, then immediately gets bored with it before it ever gets off the ground.
It's so frustrating, because clearly the artist is talented and the side characters and backgrounds look really nice. They're just a poor fit for Sonic specifically because his design works in cartoonish abstracts, and that's clearly where the artist struggles.
So why is he still doing long fucking arcs that take forever to resolve instwad of episodic adventures? The entirety of the Metal Virus took damn near half of the comic's runtime.
Anon, MV ended 3 years ago and was the second arc of the comic. It consisted of Sonic goes to location, fights zombots with guest character(s), then repeat. It was a reused idea from reboot Archie and didn't affect the status quo much at all. There was no long-term planning involved. Ever since the longest he's ever wrote is 4 issues in a row.
who?
Surge the Tenrec
The fuck is a "tenrec"?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenrec
Because like all things in IDW Sonic, she ultimately never amounted to anything.
People hate her because she told the truth.
But what kind of girl would sleep with Shadow? That guy has the charisma of a rock.
Sex will never be allowed to be canonized in Sonic, fuck off with this dogshit.
And Surge is Android 18
…Wonder who is Krillin?
Mighty or Ray I guess. Just in terms of them being around for so long.
The closest thing in the Sonic franchise to Krillin is Antoine but he's out for obvious reasons.
Mighty is Tien. Irrelevant in the Z/modern era and has a flying partner that is either his brother or his wife depending on who you ask.
Oh, good point. Especially with Ray being Chiaotzu.
Definitely wife
She's the poster child for wasted potential, and for a character in the Sonic franchise, that's saying something.
I thought she was hot, but IDW was retarded and made her constantly job. How can an antagonist be interesting if they never have even the slightest chance of winning?
I'm still waiting for her to rape someone
Surge is made to be raped
Yeah, it'll either be sonic or kit. Kit will do it like a nice guy, basically thinking he's helping her or deserves it. Sonic would do it in the most humiliating and bullying way, probably making her beg or feel helpless and pathetic the whole time.
>Either way surge will need tons of therapy and have more trauma.
>Kit will do it like a nice guy
Chris chan but in kin form.
Lol, wasn't what I was thinking but somehow funnier. Actually nah she's not kit's mom doesn't work
I hadn't ever heard of a "tenrec" before Surge.
For me it was Gold
When will Shadow get a Tenrec?
If I remember right he was pitched as a Tenrec during the design pitches for SA2.
>Plot Twist: He is one
Their ears are the only part of them that look like tenrecs
Bark is a polar bear
Cute sandals.
Shadow was allegedly supposed to be one.
Huh.
The short version is that Madagascar basically said "Eh, two mammals are plenty" and had hundreds of different varieties of lemurs and tenrecs evolve to fill pretty much every ecological niche.
>Furry Spinel rip off
Why should I like her? Espically when she turned out to be a overhyped joke.
Because she's cute whenever she's being used as a punching bag.
we made it, Surgebros
When are they gonna bring back the king
that's just sonic but green
>he doesn't know
Doesn't sonic have a green brother from the cartoon? Is that him,?
Surge is cringe, Scourge is fail, Manic is based.
Considering Surge is showing up in a video game now, never probably.
>mobile game
More than green sonic ever got.
>Surge in a videogame
Sorry, what did I miss?
When Penders either dies or sells off the trademarks
I honestly wonder what will Penders family do with all the copyright stuff he's got after he passes away.
Certain comments of his seem to imply played a huge part in him pulling his original stunt of copyrighting shit after Archie told him they didn't have a copy of his contract, but what about his offsprings?
>Certain comments of his seem to imply his wife played a huge part*
My bad
Eh, she's okay. Better than this piece of shit anyway.
She also came a hell of a lot closer to killing Sonic than he ever did.
Shut the fuck UP, Boco.
Scourge went Super Scourge and beat up the entire cast at one point, and all Sonic could do was run away until his superform wore off. That's better than getting bucketed and blowing a fuse.
Surge was drowning and electrocuting him at the same time and was seconds away from winning if her pack didn't crap out.
Meh, she just shook him up a bit.
Super Scourge was the way bigger threat. He had Sonic legit scared for a moment.
That whole scene I thought Robotnik should have mentioned that why he wears rubber pants.
>all Sonic could do was run away until his superform wore off
Not well versed in Sonic, but against a form that is invincible that's probably the only option.
It didn't wear off because the Anarchy Beryl works differently. Sonic had to trick him into powering down.
Scourge lost in a fight to Tails. It was just recently storytimed. We all saw it.
Evil Sonic, not Scourge.
He's evil sonic, not murder sonic. His whole joy was beating the shit out of people. So killing was never his goal to begin with. Otherwise he'd of offed Rosy long ago.
With how many fights he won, his record is far better than bucket head.
Green the hedgehog, my man.
Did he rape anybody?
Shadow.
Does rape by deception count?
She very quickly became another member of the crying carpet-munchers
Built to lose
Sonic wouldn't do this
That’s basically how every encounter with them went down. Sonic’s hammer of justice is unisex.
>…But Archic Sonic would because he’s peak Sonix
Why the fuck did sonic tell water boy that she died without even CHECKING for a body? He should know from personal experience that his opponents have a tendency to pop up again.
Sonic is written out of character in IDW, news at 11.
In his defense she fell like a mile down with tons of debris and metal falling on top of her in a weakened state. That's pretty dead as hell, plus this is a new sonic so maybe less death experience.
>If anything it's on drippy for not say "oh nah she's fine we are literally immortal."
Shadow is a god
Metal is a robot
Surge is just a mental nutcase
She's nothing to him at first.
they should put her in a dress
>sonic beats surge
>Sonic forces her into a frilly pink dress
>Sonic parades her around town making her apologize to citizens
>Surge hates it, but she also kind of likes being forced and humiliated
>"Oh god I'm a bottom" she thinks
that sounds cute
>Sonic the tomboy breaker/feminizer
But yeah the thought of schizonic humiliating and bullying/dominating surge into slowly becoming more feminine and having to wear cute clothes. She hates it at first but slowly it becomes second nature, she used to hate putting on makeup sonic had to pin her down and put it on here much to her chagrin. Now surge wakes up and puts on make up and her cutest outfit she can't wait for sonic to compliment her then she immediately realizes how pathetic she is telling herself she's being forced to do it.
got any more?
it's just from sthg, but I could find more
>this looks more like it could fit the feminized/forced to dress up surge idea
love to see it
Ikr if I wasn't planning on drawing in another thread I'd want to sketch to do some surge sketches, it's been almost a year since I drew the best cringefail waifu.
>ring
cute!
Made for blissful loving marriage and motherhood
Source? That's really cute
HOT
HAWT
Do look up more please.
>surge post forced to wear dress by schizonic
>Surge looking at new dresses to wear
>Not that she likes it or anything
>Especially not the feeling of a stronger guy making her be feminine and forcing her to do things
>She's a strong badass girl she thinks to herself
>as she looks at the dress sonic gave her in the mirror
I drew the top one, never posted anywhere but Cinemaphile
Kino stuff anon, you got anymore secret surge art?
Don't have any more Sonic stuff other than pixel art. Got any ideas/requests? Love drawing stuff like that.
Sissy Surge on her knees with a collar and a leash going to the viewer.
Or sissy Surge lifting her skirt.
Also post your pixel art, it'll be cool.
Will do captains, might make an account for this stuff later
not much for weight stuff
Godspeed you anon
Can we request other characters? Who else you wanna draw?
Or if you only wanna do Surge, than thats fine.
sure
Beside cutesy dresses what other stuff are you into that we can request?
Any kind of fem or girly outfit is fine, doesn't have to be just dresses.
You know, I would like a girly tea part scene but I'm not sure what characters could be involved
Starline seems like the tea party type.
Character choice is pretty open: https://litter.catbox.moe/ac5ux0.png
Not sure if you will take it, but Thunderbolt in a bikini being bashful about her weight.
More cute Surge.
Surge being bullied or pinned down by sonic.
seconding this
You're a good artist, do you have any more?
IDW turns all the Dragon Ball expires into Yamcha
>starline's hands cover their feet
I understand the distaste for blob feet but this feels like it was making a statement.
Yeah, that statement being "we don't know if Sega would bitch about giving them toes, so we avoided the whole thing just in case".
Because you just know Sega probably has some dumb mandate about how their feet can be portrayed.
Yeah, this probably why we haven't gotten humans in the book yet. There's a new art style for them.
You can see most of Kit's foot
sorry
That might have worked if for the fact they didnt market her as this huge big bad for the comic
It’s literally the marketing department’s job to hype the shit out of the comic.
>didnt market her as this huge big bad for the comic
I remember the opposite
Wow they really couldn't state she was doomed anymore than that. Who's going to win, the guy the comic is named after looking smug or that green whatever at the bottom.
post the red one where he looks more villainous
I just don't know Cinemaphilemrades, I might be a fag about this
I love it because I'm a ryona psychopath and genuinely enjoy watching women suffer.
Why is cream more emotionally resilient then most of the adults around her?
>lost her family in front of her
>lost her faithful companion
>lost her friends
>still tells whisper to fuck off and to have better resolve
She was more based for that one scene than whisper in her entire panel time.
I don't remember that
ain’t even a ryonafag, but that’s honestly based
You just sound like a hypocrite.
>Like the only reason people care about it is waifus and shipping.
Zoomers are just like this, look at any series dominated by zoomers and its overwhelmingly gay, and all about shipping and waifufagging.
I don't even read the comics and I knew from sheer cultural osmosis that she was a shitty character who added nothing to the series
>who added nothing to the series
She has a decent amount of porn though.
Admit it: that was just a shot in the dark.
Yeah it was because even if she has good Rule 34 even characters like Blaze or that sheep girl have stuff which takes their personality into account. With Surge it feels like no one knew what to do with her besides give her a massive futa cock and make her ANGY!!!!
I liked her porn
Surge is for beating up, then cuddling afterwards.
Surge is going to be added to Sonic Forces Speed Battle
Her official render:
https://twitter.com/SonicMobileNews/status/1716782783937331422
>no Kit
Surge > Kit
They made the correct choice
…and even then, If Surge is getting in. Then Kit is 100% sure to follow and one day get in too!
Too be fair the only people who like Kit are bipolar twitter lesbians
FINALLY!!!
I’ve been waiting for her to get in a game…Soon, she will be mine!
>Sonic Forces Speed Battle
Jesus, that game is still going? Sonic Forces isn't even relevant anymore.
It's run by a skeleton crew at HardLight Studios that only occasionally implements new characters, then ports them over to Sonic Dash, which unlike Sonic Dash 2 is still being maintained.
Surge if Nazi
>green electricity jobber that talks a loud game
holy shit they're the same character
She even has blue eyes
I mean surge is pretty fucked up if you think about it. It’s this random lab grown tenrec is a brainwashed and essentially lobotomized into being a scourge, who slowly tries to grapple with experiencing any emotion or independent thought outside of the 1 note persona created for her.
Surge is trash chuuu~
Tangle is better than Whisper.
Tangle was ruined by Whisper, she used to be fun but got dragged down because the writers wanted to force lesbians.
It's funny to me that writters that don't hide their yuri fetish tend to ruin alot of things, or at the very least, that focus becomes the worst thing about a series.
UT/DR have it, AT had it, this has it.
>What if Sonic had ANOTHER rival that still can't beat him even when all the cards are in their favor (what is this like the fifth one in the games alone?)
>But this time they cry alot!
Hey, no I'm cool. If we can skip right past that it would be great.
I haven't been active as much, but I would never forget about Surge
she will always live on in futa porn
I never forgot her tho
SURGE, MY BELOVED!!!
If Surge and Kit fought a Zeti could they be controlled of like the Zombots?
Give her Lanolin's rack and I'll remember her.
Boob sheep
I always enjoy when a fan favorite background character is absolutely ruined when they’re put center stage.
yeah really lanolin worked best as a pet project side character, now she basically taking a bit of amy's and whispers position. She's the biggest rookie but somehow can order around mainline/experienced characters. We know she's ABT fave and oc but come on it just makes her annoying.
Monkey's paw
She has a type.
MUST MATING PRESS
I'm surprised they allowed this design. Did Ian convince SEGA that it was just sheep wool under there?
ABT put in the design. She's less sexual than Rouge but if ABT had his way her boobs would always be bigger
Eh, I can deal with her ordering around Silver, that hedgehog has 'doormat' written all over him.
She's the prefect character to boss him around because he's a baby in IDW and she has mommy milkers
You've ruined it
Good
For someone with a good grasp of Sonic sized portions I am surprised you dont already have a gallery. Are you just anon here?
I've got various galleries but nothing I draw/post sonic stuff on.
*proportions
What's on those other galleries?
oc's and pixel art. I just made an account for this stuff it's PermiPersimmon
Remember when people where speculating Trip was Surge? Lmfao.
Why is she named that?
She clumsy
It's about the ears
Can someone post the comic where Surge is defeated by fucking Vanilla
This is really nice, when will surge's bullying end
>also for names hmmmm maybe
>surge anon, or frilart
frilart or surgeanon would be cute but they're taken I went with PermiPersimmon
Lol sorry I couldn't think of anything better but post the link I'll give ya a follow later.
Also thanks for all the art
it's on twitter just look up the name you'll see it.
I didn't forget. They forgot to make her do anything interesting. Plus, I never really liked her. The only people who gave her the time of day were coomers.
YO! Thanks for fulfilling this one.
So you're looking for a name to sign your art with?
nah was looking for something to name request account for more of this stuff, it's up though
In a hypothetical scenario where SEGA chilled out enough to let Surge have a Super Form, what color should it be?
I like the idea of her quills turning blue, but her eyes turning red.
That depends on what she uses to get a super form
Assume the Chaos Emeralds, but her using the other stuff could be neat as well.
>but her using the other stuff could be neat as well.
Her using other stuff is allowed, it's Chaos Emerald Super forms that Sega has a problem with.
I think they've loosened up on that now that they've reintegrated classic as the past and retroactively gave Amy a super form in Origins.
Sega doesn't seem to count those classic super forms where it's just the character pulsating a brighter color.
Everyone can have those, even Mighty and Ray. Maybe they just see it as a gameplay feature and not strictly canon.
It's definitely true that only male hedgehogs can have the Super Saiyan-esque golden forms. For some reason.
*in Iizuka's headcanon
Imperator IX got a pulsating super form like that in Chronicles though that's non-canon at the moment.
Yeah but as of Superstars its just "Super Powers" and not Super Amy.
Well that's gay. Iizuka's autism continues I guess.
He's not wrong. In current classic canon, Tails and Amy need the Super Emeralds to go super. Super Sonic and Super Knuckles are canon forms caused by Chaos Emeralds. All else (Mighty and Ray) is just Super Powers.
Someone please break into SoJ and kill everyone in it.
No, we just need to kill Ken Penders so we can use the good ideas from Archie again
Even if you did Sega still wouldn't use them. They want to forget Archie ever happened.
Why do they keep rehashing its ideas then?
There is no "they", its all Ian.
They kinda forget all side media happens. The only exception I can think of is Sticks who has been integrated into mainline canon.
Mean for
I bet they'll forget Prime too after a few years.
The only reason Sticks stayed around was because Sonic Team was involved in her creation, hence why she made appearances in stuff like the Olympic Games and those comics.
US copyright protection lasts for the length of the author's life plus another 70 years. So even if Penders dropped dead right now, his work would still be protected until 2093. And that's assuming he died right now.
Copyright law is so fucking broken.
Penders work will likely be protected well into the early 2100's.
does pender even have family?
I hope he does
Why?
Yes he has family. But his hold on the characters is so loopy its questionable if they would attempt to defend them if used. At very least reboot universe could be done.
Pretty sure his wife is his lawyer.
lol that's hilarious, also someone as autist and schizo as pender having a wife and potentially kids really throws me for a loop.
His wife is a rich lawyer and he has a son.
Damn, bro really won in life idk whether to say good on him or continue to question why all furries either have rich parents, rich spouses or good jobs.
Lol I'm mad when I look up ken penders wife I see him standing next to a weird julie su model/doll. But yeah he also used to have a magnificent mu-stache, really his wife must have been like dear god what's wrong with this guy.
Its not that far out there. His wife isn't some super hottie and clearly the bread winner of the two. He was pretty down to earth prior to his post sonic career failing.
Penders is willing to licence his stuff already, without him his family would likely sell what he's claimed
What kind of shit is this supposed to be? Is Sega serious?
They fear what they can't control.
Yeah Surge is gonna need a new macguffin for a transformation
Only male hedgehogs are allowed to use chaos emeralds for a super form, as per Sega mandate.
The male hedgehogs rule is fucking retarded. Knuckles deserves a super form a million times more than a shitter like Silver does.
Didn't Amy get a Super Form in Origins Plus?
Trip now officially has the most unique Super form of any character.
Fionna could definitely manipulate Kit into joining the Suppression Squad
What is Surge supposed to be in this image?
A failure.
With what kind of issue?
Does anyone actually like Kit like at all. Barely anyone talks about him
Why should they? The writers treat him as an afterthought too. His only character trait is being the world’s biggest simp.
I like him. He went through more of an actual journey than Surge did over their arc and nearly took out the entire main cast at the end.
I wish he was exposed to more gyaku-ryona
Okay nevermind, I remember now
Ya this is some pretty sweet gyaku-ryona
I fucking love the little guy
Can't say I feel much from seeing him suffer
I like him. Hope he genuinely bonds more with Surge
Ha I find this one hilarious but it always gets banned. Also I learned I'm apparently mean for finding it so funny kek
ryona & gyaku-ryona are great
You're gay.
Yes and No
ryona is pretty based, have no idea what gyaku-ryona is though. But yeah surge is built for bullying and ryona she brings it on herself sadly
Gyaku-ryona is ryona against males. (Gyaku means reverse)
Ah, hmmm seems kind of gay
Imagine Mimic transforming into any Sonic girl and selling his body for sex.
Can he stay transformed while being fucked?
In case Sonic Frontiers didn't give you enough of Sonic and Knuckles being gay
>pic
is that a DIGITAL CIRCUS reference???
He has a dumb name. Sounds like a really crappy soda
>He
nekkid
I mean, I wanna stick my dick in her, but that's not really a seal of approval
She needs a win, even if it's minor
She won against Whisper.
>Evan could have just had her discover she had energy absorption powers, it would show she can grow and improve
Could still happen as a consequence of her overusing the device.
>Surge goes to Angel Island and gets a powerup from the Master Emerald while Kit distracts Knuckles
>portrayed as stronger, faster, and an actual threat
I mean, it worked for Scourge.
>her eyes and lightning turn red.
So she becomes Beast Cole from Infamous?
She doesn't have enough bad karma
You saying you want her to win a minor?
She already has Kit
The fuck is that drawing, looks like an awkward trace of an inbetween frame or something
The lighting makes it look like she has a double chin.
Why is the tie-in comic for Sonic stuck in this weird ass limbo of irrelevance? It feels like this is some time capsule shit from a writing team who has no newer source material than Sonic Forces.
Because status quo is king.
The resistance shit wasn't status quo in the games though, it was one game.
Let alone the fact it was a game that was publically poorly received.
>That's status quo for the comic, buy if it isn't the persistent "normal" in the games, it's not really status quo there.
By that logic alot of things wouldn't count, like GUN.
Because it's been the same guys making the comic for two decades.
I haven't read the comics yet, but Surge is easily the coolest design the franchise has made since Blaze, if not the Adventure games
Should have been an Anti-Villain. Not a good guy, but also one that will do whatever she wants to learn about who she is, no matter who it hurts.
Forced Feminization and Humiliation of Surge till she likes it.
How is that different from what we have now?
Post cute girl
pretty sure the comic forgot about her to as really that is what the modern comic amounts to is forgetting things that have happen continues to take ages to ever put out a comic.
She looks like she fucks human men
She's a "rebel against the status quo" in a series where nothing is ever allowed to happen. Being self aware enough to realize that doesn't make her a good character.
Love it when Eggman gets his hands dirty. Its easy to forget that the dude's huge and can personally ragdoll them
I hate it because it completely misses the point of the character.
>Precisely, that's the joke.
It's not a funny one.
t. Eggman
>He's supposed to be a paper tiger bully that crumbles under anyone that has the audacity to stand up to him.
Since when? He spent the entirety of SA2 making GUN and the president his bitch. He was an equal match for a completely alien threat like the black arms.
Shut the fuck up, Eggman can flip cars.
Eggman has defeated Sonic several times during IDW. You must have meant "kill".
I mean in Archie anon, where Ian literally made the comic's restrictions into a plot point.
That was clearly Eggman's cope to keep his sanity intact from his long list of failures. As usual fans read too much into things.
No, it's just how Ian writes characters.
That's not meta commentary, that's Ian trying to justify keeping around a character that was hyped up as an omnipotent villain and jobbed embarrassingly every time.
That is, no joke, the precise moment when people actually started liking the character a bit.
He's strong
For someone who's not really a Sonic fan, is it worth reading the IDW comics? I found IDW's TMNT comic to be alright.
IDW is only worth reading for Metal Virus, Scrapnik Island and Surge. I recommend just watching YouTube videos about those stories instead of actually reading the book.
>only worth reading for Metal Virus,
I don't know why you think that, the Metal Virus arc was a painfully protracted mess that didn't lead to any payoff for any of the "drama" it was trying to push.
No. The book is poorly paced and devolves mostly into filler halfway through. It's also a really bad introduction to a lot of characters.
I can't stand the fact that Flynn decides to broach the idea of "why Sonic won't kill Eggman" then gets uppity when people start arguing about it.
You shouldn't have brought it up in the first place!
Well it's a comic for children first off.
Second it really suffers from the fact that it's not allowed to change the status quo from the games. What this means is that all the established Sonic characters who lead the stories have to remain as these immovable icons while actual change and emotion is funneled through side-characters created for the comic.
>Well it's a comic for children first off.
This is literally the excuse the IDW Sonic writers give whenever somebody criticizes them, despite the fact you can tell they're desperately trying to write something "deeper" than the actual games do, and not doing a very good job at it.
>Well it's a comic for children first off.
So was my favorite comic of all time. Doesn't really help set expectations for everyone.
>actual change and emotion is funneled through side-characters created for the comic.
It's really a lose-lose scenario either way.
>Sonic can decide that he wants to become a chef
I'm pretty sure this just gave Iizuka a brain aneurism over in Japan.
You're obviously not aware of how tight the restrictions are.
He's an incompetent moron anyway.
This is true, but he's still the head of everything Sonic-related.
It's a shame the Japs waste their time on shit like committing arson against Kyoani when they could've just murdered Iizuka's retarded ass instead.
Theres an annual where Sonic decides to get his driving license.
There's a short story in an annual where he does that, not a whole issue.
And?
>You're obviously not aware of how tight the restrictions are.
Are you saying Sonic cant be a chef?!
Really though, every IP has restrictions. Restrictions only restrict story elements or depictions but restrictions cant prevent Ian from writing well. He chooses to write mediocre on his own.
What's everyone else's excuse?
If this comic had a cooking arc I'd pick it back up.
Generally fuck no, it's boring dogshit. But seeing as your standards are already rock bottom for liking IDW TMNT, you might enjoy it.
Behold! The best Sonic character of all time
That's not Bean The Dynamite
That's not a character. That's a design.
A cool design, to be sure. But not a character, unless we want to start calling Eggman's "chair" a character too.
God, I really hate how Sonic is drawn in these comics. His entire face is a trainwreck here.
IDW Sonic's art is high effort but often has the characters off-model
It's so frustrating, because clearly the artist is talented and the side characters and backgrounds look really nice. They're just a poor fit for Sonic specifically because his design works in cartoonish abstracts, and that's clearly where the artist struggles.
Cause he's operating under the idea that the comic can end anytime so he doesn't want to do long-term planning anymore.
Trash character like Shitdow.
Literally who the fuck
