Why did David Lynch say no to Gravity Falls, a crticically acclaimed show but accepted Cleveland Show, a shitty spinoff that was hated by many, including its creator?

Why work on a show that's just a rip off of something you made in the 90's

It's this. Lynch seriously hates the whole brownnosing thing, and hates people who tread on his toes with their work. He probably sees Gravity falls as "this guy took ideas I made and watered them down for children", whereas Seth is probably someone who approached him in a friendly/respectful manner, not as some reverent fanboy. Keep in mind Lynch is a very mature person, so he probably won't get a long well with people under a certain age.

        Interesting

Be mike henry (the original voice of Cleveland) know each other somehow, that’s why he did the spin off first. Still don’t really know HOW they know each other though, they probably go to the same bar

For years I saw zoomers compare Gravity Falls to Twin Peaks, and having actually seen both (I can't imagine anyone making this comparison has), they aren't similar whatsoever beyond the basic 'small town with big secrets' trope that has been around forever. The Prisoner for example did the same thing in the 1960s

I found it more similar to Eerie Indiana, which was also an inspiration for the show.

    >kiddie show made by some literal who
    >prime time show made by one of the biggest names in Hollywood
That’s why, adult cartoons always gets more attention and press than kids show, as well as having big names as voice actors.
