I honestly think the original cut of season 4 is a little underrated, the whole Rashomon thing they tried to do with each character having an episode was interesting and while not done perfectly had some pretty clever parts to it. Then Netflix completely undid what made the season interesting and changed it to a butchered chronological cut with excessive narration that made it literally unwatchable.
Not him but the original isn't any better. Within the first few minutes of the moronic Grinch-esque Seussian intro with young Lucille and George the show establishes the kind of cringe, nepotism hire writing that the rest of the season is full of.

yeah i thought those young lucille and george parts were beyond moronic
Making something 10 years later after everyone has moved on to different projects, not allowing time to get together again is always difficult. The fact half of the magic of the show was all the characters playing off each other at once, made it impossible to create anything near the initial quality.
People didn't watch it
This, some of us were watching it back then but not enough. I didn't even find out about the show until the second season was almost over.
Fox really fricked with the timeslot of the show, making it nearly impossible to find a regular audience.
I never watched it either, but from what I've seen from pictures/clips/webms I'm not upset.
The direction and cinematography looks completely soulless.
And? Those aren't ratings. It's not shitting on the show to say it got terrible ratings, that's objectively true, it's almost best known for being critically acclaimed but getting incredibly poor viewership when it first aired. There's even meta jokes about it.
Nobody watched it. Partly because the studio itself didn't give it a chance.
Unironically I think it's what gave the show it's charm. They were constantly struggling over every season and it pushed them to keep the show intense and fresh.
seasons 1-3 are peak american comedy. i've yet to find a funnier show that retains replay value. season 4 was decent, season 5 was a steaming heap of shit.
>replay value
Yeah, I just probably did my 10th rewatch of the first 3 seasons. I was STILL finding new jokes that I had previously missed by laughing at other jokes. And, I'm sure the drugs helped.
why did the show spend so much time on the red haired girl and the movie and the narrarator only for none of it to have any sort of payoff
also this might be a controversial take but i never liked the never dude guy and he got way too much screentime in the latter half of the show
Fox completely mishandled the series, they're a terribly managed network. Shouldn't be any surprise considering their history. If it weren't for Simpsons they would've tanked decades ago and in spite of its success they continued to make terrible decision after terrible decision.
As much as I enjoyed it, they were already running out of ideas by season 3. I don't know if it's because they knew it was over, but outside of being hot, the Charlize Theron thing was dreadful.
it had a lot of running gags and plot lines, which was a strength and a weakness, as while it made it very funny, it was impossible for someone to pick up in the middle. this was back when piracy or renting DVDs was the only way to see things, so it was basically hopeless for it to gain new viewers.
After forcing myself through seasons 4 and 5.
They were smart to cancel it
no one is talking about those seasons, they dont exist

didnt laugh once watching a few eps of season 4, it seemed like it tried too hard and the humor wasn't the same as seasons 1-3 for me
did you watch the original or the netflix remix?
not sure but this was right when they came out on israeliteflix

Gob's story was funny imo, the whole roofie loop and thinking he was gay because he had never had a friend were solid bits.
Oh yeah, I can't defend this though, putting that one-note moron Seth Rogen in as George Sr. was offensively bad
yeah and that dumb ghostbusters c**t as lucille
>roofie loop
>Anon was in a ____ spiral
Has become part of my personal lexicon.
I've made a huge mistake

was season 5 any good? didn't watch it because season 4 killed my interest
I never watched it either, but from what I've seen from pictures/clips/webms I'm not upset.

It was horrible, absolutely not even a spark of comedy, and I thought 4 was pretty ok.
ratings were shit
neither 4 or 5 are worth even a curiosity watch
pleb
>ratings were shit
they won a ton of awards
And? Those aren't ratings. It's not shitting on the show to say it got terrible ratings, that's objectively true, it's almost best known for being critically acclaimed but getting incredibly poor viewership when it first aired. There's even meta jokes about it.
It was shit. How it lasted that long was a miracle.
they were thinking it made them no money
Is it worth a watch for that chick second in line?
She becomes hideous by season 2.
the wall hits them all
usually the wall waits until they at least leave their teens.
What? Season 2 Maeby was fricking perfect
Don’t talk to that guy anon, he’s a pedophile
People didn't watch it
This, some of us were watching it back then but not enough. I didn't even find out about the show until the second season was almost over.
I was wrong back then and it's wrong now
Nobody watched it. Partly because the studio itself didn't give it a chance.

season 3 a shit
i like season 3

The money in the bananastand ran out.

You didn’t eat that dove did you? I got to return it to the store later.
pic related is the average fox viewer's brain. the show was just too witty for most.
Season 4 might have sucked but it was worth it just for this moment.
daddy needs to get his rocks off
Season 3 was already weaker than the first two and running out of steam.
4 was bizarre. Just saw the first episode, it looked like Arrested Development, except without any jokes. Fricking terrible.
