Marvel couldn't think of a good marketing pitch for it about why people should buy it, that and the first issue being $10 or so was to much for some people to get in on the ground floor
it's Hickman's "one for me" book in exchange for writing Ultimate Spider-Man. It's trying to crowbar an indie Hickman world-building comic into the Marvel universe, and doing so quite poorly
They're not good, they're merely not complete garbage.
It's fine. I'm ok with fine. Will I buy the trade? Probably not. Will I continue to read the Cinemaphile storytimes because it's reasonably enjoyable? Sure.
That's fair. For me, "fine" usually means I drop it within a few issues or less.

Because it’s Hickman being self-indulgent with largely OCs and Dr. Strange in supporting role. Of course nobody cares about it because it’s so clearly masturbatory drivel
Hickman's OCs. It didn't have the fanbase of Avengers, FF4 let alone X-Men or Spider-Man. He said it was closest to SHIELD and he was right because Hickman trying to make his OCs important on a cosmic scale caused it to bomb. I remember by issue 4 no one on Tumblr or Twitter gave a shit about it.
Despite the good sales he has produced in the past Hickman still relies on the characters he writes having a user base of their own. His own fans can only carry so much. The MC isn't really interesting and feels a bit like MCU character a smart ass that fools around until he asspulls a plan at the 11th hour.Plus having Strange around makes him feel redundant. It has the marvel event book style of telling you big shit is happening with all new code words without actually doing anything. Hickman has done a bit of self fellating by referencing the swans, library, Eldrac and other shit he made. Despite being new it doesn't really feel new reader friendly, everyone just rolls with it like the reader should understand what is going on. They should have just had Hickman on Inhumans or space books.
I think we should have gotten more on the Powers that Be and the Natural Order of Things already. They're still a mystery which is a moronic decision when you've got to sell readers on new concepts in a long established universe. Issue 5 with the Black Swans was another issue 2 which killed the momentum building of the previous issue.
It was too hard to understand and not enough charisma to
it was not very entertaining, which is the primary point of the funnies books, not whatever conceptslop Hickman was shitting out.

Because it was boring as frick.
Is it cause it's a superhero comic book? Isn't the total demographic for people who read those like the max capacity of an IHOP?
Boring, mediocre art and boring, mediocre writing.

Yeah Ultimate Spider-Man has been perfect so far. GODS is just not clicking, and I'm only going to finish buying it because it's almost over.
You're kidding, right? His USM is pure mediocrity.
USM mediocrity looks like gold compared to the shit that is the current Spider-Man run.
Just because ASM is fricking awful doesn't mean USM is suddenly good. That's piss-poor reasoning.
Liking Hickman's USM is having shit taste.
There's been two issues so far and they've both been really good. I don't see what's wrong so far.
>really good
Pure hyperbole. They’re readable, there’s barely been anything outside of setups, all of which is entirely run of the mill.
They're not good, they're merely not complete garbage.

mainline Spider-Man is so horrifically bad that even middle-of-the-road is a massive step up
it's nice to not have shit taste like yours.

Because Hickman's special snowflake OC that's supposedly a major player on Earth and does various important things behind the scene is lame.
