Im still miffed they crammed Monica's power origin into WandaVision. Stan Lee used to have really good origin stories and a very basic story structure on how to get people super powers. They keep kind of hand waving this.

No, part of the problem was how too few people watched Ms. Marvel and too few people remembered Monica from when they watched WandaVision almost 3 years ago

No one gives a single frick about any of the 3 leads. The idea for this is just stupid mindless hubris. Some coke sniffing moron and a dumb feminist b***h linked up and this dumb movie for literally no one exists now because of it. How many Muslim girls even like the MCU? Do Muslim women even ever get polled? Does anyone even know a Muslim woman?

They're all addicted to TikTok and Instagram makeup tutorials. To them Marvel is something their fathers or older brothers are into. But nothing is going to make them consoom the over 100 hours of backstory required to get invested in the MCU. Not even Kingdom Hearts or MGS were that demanding on their audience.

Modern society needs to process this problem more. Youth is power for women. If you're a 40-year-old who never moved out of her 20s in terms of her life arc, all you're left with are delusions and more destructive forms of validation-seeking (like playing the victim).

Women NEED to move into the role of the family matriarch in their late 20s and 30s in order for the last 50% of their lives to not be a shitshow. That means choosing a man in your 20s and sticking with him.

Male-oriented genre (whether Hollywood likes it or not)
All-female main cast that isn't at least 50% naked at any given time
Characters that were created for feminism (which isn't about helping women so much as it's about painting men as the great oppressor and attacking men; yeah, that's what men want to see) from conception
    Wine aunt humor

And on top of trying to shove a round block into a square hole, just plain ol' bad writing and direction

BTW, if I were going to try to make a female-led superhero movie, I'd start by waifu baiting in a movie with a male protagonist. Cute and sexy. Whichever girl is the most popular gets a movie (great incentive for the actresses to try to get the men to like them and not double dip on validation-seeking by playing the victim with the shill media afterward). Also, in terms of powers, keep them magical and psychic so that you don't get the ridiculous visual of a woman beating up ten men who look like they're military ready.

And then I'd still keep my expectations middling, because male protagonists are definitely safer when the target audience is male.

Because Disney thought women wanted superheroes and empowerment. Women actually want whatever gets them attention from men.

Either joining in male hobbies, or crying and getting men to intervene on their behalf.

I just got back from watching it AMA.
imo it was a terrible movie. I have the hookup at my local theater so I watch movies for free.
    >3 big fight scenes
    >they lose all 3 including the one for their own sun
    >somehow defeat big bad at the end despite their terrible fight
    >let the big bad go cause women, who then betrays them of course
    >a literal water planet full of flaming homos who can only speak in song and Captain Marvel is coincidentally a princess there
I wondered how such a slop was developed but then I saw it was written by not one but three women. I knew it was impossible to make such a shitty movie alone.

Anime has the benefit of not having to use IRL actresses with their middle school boy levels of athleticism. If they were to make Symphogear, for example, they'd probably be able to do Chris, but there'd be nothing that they could do to not make Hibiki and Tsubasa look frail, clumsy, and lacking in power and dexterity compared to their animated counterparts. Women just move differently, and said differences are worse for combat in every way.

The Universal Weapon does not have the Power Stone in it, its just "kinda cosmically powerful" tech.

The biggest problem with the movie is that it's a shit sequel to the first. Carol's revenge against the Supreme Intelligence is reduced to a brief voice-over'd flashback. And then she's obligated to feel bad about killing AI Space Hitler because the Kree went into a civil war over it?
At no point in the entirety of the 2 movies did the Kree stop acting like dicks.

A second large issue is that Carol is capable of fighting Thanos and destroying capital ships, so all the scenes were she's brawling with Kree are just stupid. There's nothing in this movie that ought to be a challenge for her.

        Anonymous

The best thing Disney can do now is kill Carol offscreen on a Disney Plus show and never mention her again

No one was served with this movie:
Carol Danvers deserved an actual battle with the Kree Army, their giant robots and the Supreme Intelligence.
Kamala deserved her own street-level movie (D+ or otherwise) and her own cool villain.

You now remember that moment in Endgame where the avengers asked her to help but she said no my planet needs me and fricked off, despite the fact that the rest of the characters were about to Jarvis send us to the past and it would take literally zero time from the perspective of those other planets so there’s no real reason she couldn’t have gone except for hamfisted writing

BTW, if I were going to try to make a female-led superhero movie, I'd start by waifu baiting in a movie with a male protagonist. Cute and sexy. Harem anime and pornos are apparently the only way to get superheroines to work onscreen, and it will stay that way until the end of time and Feige just needs to get that through his head

Also, Ronan the Accuser was one of the most underwhelming villains of the MCU, and making his little sister the main adversary of Captain Marvel, the strongest of the MCU heroes is a stupid mismatch.
This is what happens with directors completely unfamiliar with the mythos; you have TVA nobodies bullying Loki around, when he's easily able to kick Captain America's ass, and fights Thor in hand-to-hand.

      >This is what happens with directors completely unfamiliar with the mythos; you have TVA nobodies bullying Loki around, when he's easily able to kick Captain America's ass, and fights Thor in hand-to-hand.

I think they knew that, they just took the hit and nerfed Loki for convenience.

Thor and Loki were ALREADY heavily nerfed from the comics. They made Loki absolutely pathetic for the show.
And they were just never willing to commit to a villain strong enough to be a compelling adversary for Captain Marvel. They went right into making her as strong as the Silver Surfer, the surfer fights entire superteams or other heralds or cosmic abstracts or SATAN.

If you don't understand why Disney had so much money in 2019 and what they needed to do to make the most of it (because there was no way that was going to continue forever), you shouldn't be the head of a major entertainment studio.
