Ive seen seasons one and two. I saw that dumb and dumber were gone and decided to check it out.
it feels like a worse version of the earlier got seasons 1 and 2. its still decent though theyve just got less political games to play because they dont have as many good ambitous characters,
so all the uninteresting stuff the old series would replace with new character intros or happenings is now boring "imma girl getting older" material.
It's worse because there's only like 300 pages of source material that covers the Dance of Dragons and the writers literally strayed from it in the first episode. On top of that you know the Long Night and White Walkers were both wet farts, and how the Targaryen name dies. So what is the point of the show?
HotD is better than GoT seasons 5-8. Not as good as 1-4 overall but it builds and ends strong. Second half is as good as early GoT and first half has monkey so it’s worth a watch.

I loved when Rhaenys ruined the best scene in the show by girlbossing out of the floor on dragon and killing hundreds of smallfolk. I also love how the writers talked about this scene like it was just an epic girlboss moment that shows her taking the moral highground over the greens by not scorching them without mentioning the hundreds of peasants she killed
Maybe from the perspective the show runners are trying to ‘envision.’ The peasants vastly outnumber the royalty and if they want a form reign the people have to at least approve of them. It was even shown in GOT when they started that riot around Joffrey in flea bottom. Killing a few peasants in ‘self defense’ - no problem. A few hundred in an ancient sept for no reason other than grrrrrrrrrlboss! - extremely bad for the blacks

her logic - that it's not for her to start the war because she's not tipped to be queen herself - is also on-point. if anything its a muh honor moment, with the mass murder being a warning shot.
too low. like 20% of the population would die during a plague outbreak but royalty would remain mostly unharmed owing to not being surrounded by rats. infant mortality was 50% outside cities and may have been over 70% in cities.
if anything the humanism of characters from the original GoT show is what was implausible. GRRM trying to have it both ways is the reason Mad Dany didn't work in the show.

It did some of the best numbers in ratings HBO has ever had. I don't think it flopped quality wise either, easily better than the last seasons of GOT. Better than most seasons of GOT actually.
Apparently they are pouring all their resources into making the upcoming season really good as it’s their only big show coming out next year. They are not taking any chances.

I think it’s even less likely to get to s3 and be like “here’s my other son I never mentioned for the first 2 seasons”

It’s pending a season 3 green light at the moment. There was 2 pieces of Daeron related dialogue cut from season 1, one from Alicent and one from Aemond. It was a mistake to cut the scenes though. Non bookgays will be super confused.

Majority of births are not so over the top and last for hours. Especially with pain relief which Westeros has an abundance of. It was just off putting.

I can't even remember the rest but they are going nowhere. I mean nether did the GOT cast tbf but at least they enjoyed some fame while the show was on.
Actually it was pretty successful, but not when compared to the original GoT series.
Partially it was the fault of the show, having a different tone than the original, with less backstabbing and not as exciting when you only have pretty much one house. What made the original good is the mish-mash of all those different houses with different ideals, themes and morals. One of the biggest strenghts was the mottos and personality of the houses, essentially making them the houses in Harry Potter, which is almost always a surefire way to hold an audience. In HoT that's pretty much missing.
On the other hand, people probably got tired of the universe either because the show went on for a decade or due to the absolutely horrible quality in the last 3 seasons in GoT.
I mean it brought GOT back from the dead. I thought the franchise was dead and buried and HotD proved me wrong, they got lucky rangz of power was airing at the same time and it looked like absolute shit in comparison
