Why did it seem like old films had so much effort put into them? This is a throwaway movie no one would ever bother to see and yet it is bordering on shakesperean with how complex and interesting the plot and characters are.

the dishes are done, maaaaaaaaan
And that line was stolen and inserted in the all black version of this movie that is being remade.
Applegate was/is overrated and always mid. Face the facts.
She was fine when dressed correctly.
Everyone who watched this movie went for someone who looked like Kelly Bundy, not an actor stretching her range.
Nope, you probably have the exact opposite taste than most Anons here. You like black hair with big lips and darker skin. Do you like them extreme saucernips too?
It's not like people don't want architecture like the Sistine Chapel anymore, it's that we lack people that can create such things these days.
No, it's that it's better for investors to make endless slop.
>we could totally do it if we wanted to
nah that cope im afraid
creative people still exist, none of them are being hired anywhere since corporations care more about profits and blind obedience, both of which do not go well with creative types.
cope, there's plenty of money to be made with creative people, just because you just can't get a job doesn't mean good artist can't
I think that allot of artist can recreate or create something like the SC, but it has been done before so they wanna explore new grounds. Thats why there are so many shit styles nowadays, not that they even wanna make it look good, they just wanna make you feel something. Except for Cy Twombly and the likes
Because it was actual craftsmanship. Nowadays people who get into movies want to look cool and insightful so they are just lowest common denominator slop by those who never learned the craft because they thought it was beneath them. Hell, even sitcoms from the 80s are better written and more intelligent than 99 percent of movies and shows released in the last 20 years.
I pretty much only stick to media made before the 2000s because every time I watch something modern that has gotten praise and good reviews it feels like I'm living among the moronic. I literally watch Barbarian because everyone even RLM praised the shit out of it and it is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. The acceptance of bad movies and tv really bothers me
The enlarged hispanic population may have something to do with that. They'll watch any trash.
This. Latinos can’t conceptualize beauty. Just look at everything about Mexican and Central American culture. Trashy, tacky, and loud.
>Hell, even sitcoms from the 80s are better written and more intelligent than 99 percent of movies and shows released in the last 20 years.
100% this. I had some random Postman Pat clips come up on youtube, and a fricking show for babies from the 80s has better dialog then most slop today that's made for "adults".
>every time I watch something modern that has gotten praise and good reviews it feels like I'm living among the moronic.
God this is so true. I can't even talk to people about movies anymore. Every time they bring up current popular thing I just smile politely and nod. I feel like the average IQ of the population is decreasing at a harrowing rate.
me second from the left
>second from the left
>you could have just said middle because clearly he's in the center of the frame and there would be no mistaking who's in the middle
>look again
You sly dog you
Don't fret, they're making a new one, up to date for the modern world 😉
>Don't fret, they're making a new one, up to date for the modern world 😉
This. All-black cast, except for the dead babysitter, who is white.
If they hate white people so much why'd they hire one to watch the chilluns?
If the dead babysitter was black, that would mean the producers hate black people ;_;
Anyone else genuinely depressed that they never got to be on set during the making of classic movies?
Kind of. I lived out in Hawaii from 2014-2023. I would have loved to have done that while they were filming the original Magnum P.I. series. I watch it now and see how much has changed. 1980's Hawaii was supposably the breasts. I lived 10 min away from where the Robbin's Nest was.
>1980's Hawaii was supposably the breasts.
What's it like now?
Over the course of 8 years it changed (Covid really did a number) but as of right now
>Absurdly Expensive for low quality and poor service
>Night life has been widdled down to a spec since so many bars and clubs have been torn down to build luxury condos that no locals can afford and the Chinese who buy them don't live in.
>Homeless/Junkies everywhere.
>Run by a bunch of corrupt Asian boomers so they tax the shit out of everything they don't outlaw.
>The nature and hiking spots are overcrowded, have been torn down, or about to be either one.
>Traffic is horrible and the gov is dumping billions into a train that goes between nowhere and nowhere
>A lot of the Japanese have pulled out of the islands, taking their businesses with them leading to a lack of Japanese tourists aka the best ones.
>Half of the new tourists are hood rich trash.
>Young locals are leaving in droves because of how bad things are.
They literally just remade this with blek people btw
It seems that Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead was shot twice. The original version was called "The Real World", and is supposedly much different than the version that is known today. Not sure how much of the original footage was kept in. It's probably why Coogan is wearing a bad wig throughout most of the movie except for the ending. There was a subplot with the pool. It makes sense since most of the house is shown to be in need of maintenance, and is cleaned up at the end except...the pool (that is cleaned up and featured at the end). For those still reading it was shown to be comically in disrepair with the younger sister diving into it scaring her siblings or something to that extent.
Picrel. the original younger sister that was recast.
Source: A panel video that Coogan (dishes are done man), and Harris did. Elements of the movie itself like the score; it's like the studio combined both conflicting scores.

seems they made it to be a home alone knockoff first, then made it focus more on the fashion stuff
You seem to know allot about this flick, the thing that always interrested me was, where did Metallica-breath came from? Was it a miss read of motor-breath or something? Because thats a Metallica song. I was very young on my first watch and a 'tallica fan so it was so cool to hear that name, but when i thought about it years later it just doesn't make any sense... What even is a metallica-breath?
i fricking love this movie and will still watch it nowadays but the entire end sequence with the fashion show was lame as frick
>but the entire end sequence with the fashion show was lame as frick
No it wasn't. It wrapped up all the plot threads perfectly.
i'm talking about the execution of it. like the final 30 minutes is the fashion show. she could have easily been figured out and plot threads tied up without that being 1/3 of the movie
>she could have easily been figured out and plot threads tied up without that being 1/3 of the movie
How? Please explain. She spent the entire movie working in a fashion job, what should be the payoff from that?
>.
we need a remake
weekend at biden's
all the smart, risk-taking people realized Hollywood is dead and corporate regurgitation land and went down other paths and now the trustfunders from wesleyan took over with their woke bullshit and bland remakes
It's pretty much just Working Girl as soon as she has to get a job but yeah, even the most run of the mill movie from 30 years ago seems like high art compared to the garbage of today.
Christina Applegate was a prime piece of pussy in this film, I tell you what man.
I memba
i will watch this slopkino for she
just started watching and it's amazing how good the movie looks compared to even the blockbusters today thanks to film and the skilled lighting/cinematography. the rich colors and contrast compared to the gray digital led lighting look.
although one thing i dont miss about the 90s is the fashion and interior decorating... yikes
Higher level of professionalism behind the camera
Now people think “well this movie isn’t my dream project so I’ll just half ass it”
