Why did it take over a decade to make an actual proper sequel to ATLA like they should have done originally instead. Why did they decide to do that moronic generational time skip series with a completely different cast in the first place anyways?

It will be awful, but plebs will eat the slop and call it fine cuisine.
This. ATLA hasn't had a single good output outside the original show.
The first Korra season was good.
>pro bending
>moronic twist
>pro bending
>themes never adressed
>PRO BENDING
Season 3 is the only good one
Pro-Bending wasn't that bad. The fricking love triangle, however
>Pro-Bending wasn't that bad.
You're right. It was worse.
Pro-bending was incredibly bad considering the potential of the concept. Earthbending was reduced to throwing frisbees.
Yeah it was pretty boring considering how limited it is. Though there are probably other combat sports that allowed more freedom maybe.
All seasons were garbage, stop coping.
They literally have a Korra movie planned after the Zuko one.
1 was decent
2 was trash
3 was the best
4 was there
But it had that terrible romance subplot and probending was somehow an even worse version of Quidditch, which was already the worst part of that series.
And Korra never even learns the lessons which she is obviously supposed to learn. She just gets past her problems without changing
Korra was hot garbage so I have no faith in this
It will probably be better than Korra.
Korra was subpar, but most of that was due to production issues, not incompetence.
Some of it was incompetence, but not all of it anyways.
Korra was really rushed since, contrary to popular belief, it was greenlit for four books (two seasons) from the get-go, so basically the whole show was produced around the same time, which meant quality control was often less important than getting the product finished and in an acceptable state.
It also had a huge lack of writers compared to the original series, which held it back.
This movie is unlikely to have either of those issues and so should be at some medium of quality inbetween the OG show and Korra
>Korra was subpar, but most of that was due to production issues, not incompetence.
Cope
It's true dude.
Things are almost never bad just because the people making them were idiots.
Making a tv show is hard, you need the right time, the right ideas, the right resources, and the right people. And if you don't have one or some of those, the show will probably not turn out good.
Look how Zuko got height mogged by Sokka and Aang.
Finally, The world will know who fricked toph.
Who is gonna come out as gay?
Hopefully not Toph or Zuko. Its already too late for Aang with those insidious pedo Monks
I mean both Toph and Zuko has kids in Korra so it's likely gonna be Sokka
Hate how they're keeping Sokka using a sword instead of his war club. He's not gonna cut anyone with it so you might as well have him bonk fools with a club. The war club also has cultural significance to him. Besides Zuko already has the sword thing covered.
That's a promo pic from a decade ago, it's not necessarily gonna be what's in the movie
The fire nation was extremely merciful to sokka here
Yeah. Dick move for Hakoda to leave his untrained child son behind with instructions to "protect the village" instead of "run and hide". Sokka is lucky as frick that Zuko is a relatively nice guy.
Not all fire nation soldiers were bad. The captain (I think) didn't hesitated to talk back to zuko in order to protect his men from the storm.
And here they saw a bunch of women and kids being protected by a child soldier.
The OP pic is just fanart re-used by a fan-journalist of the series.
We don't have any official concept art yet
Why wouldn't Sokka use a sword? He was actually trained in using one by a master.
>He was actually trained in using one by a master.
It's so bullshit that the only sparring between him and Zuko was in comics
He has a story reason to use a sword, but if the movie is still going to be family friendly, or if it doesn;t want Sokka to on screen murder people, then the sword is a big drawback.
A club can be used more often since it doesn't obviously maime in the way a sword would
Considering that Korra was way more edgy than ATLA i wouldn't be surprised if movies will have finally have blood in it
>Why did it take over a decade to make an actual proper sequel to ATLA like they should have done originally instead
I disagree with this take. Korra sucked but I also don't want ATLA to end up like Star Wars where the only stories ever told is about how epic and based the Skywalker family is and every major plot point somehow has people end up in Tatooine despite the whole point being that it's a dull backwoods planet in bumfrick nowhere.
Well with Star Wars the universe of the setting was actually never interesting with little world building or really anything unique which separated it from other sci-fi settings other than the force.
Avatar, while still not having the most compelling world building (having only four nations and having them be color coded and coded by element isn't exactly the most creative thing ever) but it's a lot more compelling and interesting than Star Wars.
It should've taken infinity time.
Just pick the universe and tell a new story with new characters.
>Adult Toph
Gross. Also I would bet money that Toph is going to be the lesbian rep that they have to include in every single cartoon now.
I swear if they make my best girl tomboy waifu a dyke im gonna lynch burk
They might do that, but it would be a bit out of place since the original show indicated that she had a crush on Sokka and Korra had her become a mother.
Granted we don't know if she ever married a man, so they could make her gay and have that be the explanation why she never married in TLoK.
And then I suppose she would have just artificially inseminated herself to have children.
She also had a crush on Zuko. Toph being a lesbian make no sense, which is exactly why they will do it.
Eh she has one gag scene with Zuko, I'm not sure if I'd call that a crush.
She has a lot more moments with Sokka. And is often seen holding on to him when the gang are flying
>She has a lot more moments with Sokka
She doesn't.
She does. She blushes at him twice as often as she did with Zuko, and actually Toph spends the most screentime with Sokka out of any gaang member
Nice claims, still false tho.
>And then I suppose she would have just artificially inseminated herself to have children.
Can Katara semenbend?
depends how watery semen is. I never bothered looking it up.
if it's just the sperm cells, probably not.
If you can bend blood you can bend semen.
They can't literally bend blood or at least it's never shown, what they actually do is move water inside the body
I would guess that the sperm cells would just be left behind if someone tried to bend semen, but then again I think they've shown people bending muddy water so that would include some earth particles
after Korra and the comics I really have 0 reason to believe this will be any different. Its become clear over the years that the original series was lightning in a bottle and they either have no idea how to recapture it or they think they can shovel shit out and people will eat it anyways.
I just want a series with a male Earth Avatar.
They will frick
hopefully
I don't think so. Even the novels written about Avatar Kiyoshi or now Yangchen are still young adult novels.
So It seems they are probably sticking to family friendly stuff
>Using her hands.
>Not tripping him so he falls face first in the mud so she can get a good look at him.
I just assume that this will be character assassination 101 and that some gay teenage girl who is a Super-Avatar will request help from the Gaang but then solve everything on her own anyways.
Should we assume this will have blood and sex?
As long as it retcons Korra out of existence I don't really care.
Hopefully it will shit all over the comics
Same reason they decided to start their movie line up with Kyoshi, AKA a character nobody cares about. They are morons.
Because Nick asked for a sequel almost immediately after ATLA ended and Bryke wanted to explore new characters.
>Bryke wanted to explore new characters.
>Failed so hard that he had to crawl back to Nick's initial plan
kek
Call me when they get Aaron Ehasz back as head writer. Bryan and Mike are so far up their own ass, they might have come up with the idea but they can execute it for shit. Korra was a smorgasbord of writing frickups with barely any overarching plot. Some of that was the nightmare that was Nick not telling them how many episodes they had but even after they it was fumbled like crazy. Ehasz kept the through line of the plot in all 3 seasons and was responsible for writing most of the best episodes. Byke can suck a dick.
Can't wait to see Pregnant Toph and Katara
>Why did it take over a decade to make an actual proper sequel to ATLA like they should have done originally instead.
Because the Shyamalan movie from 2010 was a huge flop (even people who didn't watch cartoons made fun of it) and I think Nick was worried that the public was going to be sick of the "bald kid with the arrow tattoo" character so so they put Aang on the back burner and let Bryke experiment with a different project in the same universe to keep the brand alive.
>Why did they decide to do that moronic generational time skip series with a completely different cast in the first place anyways?
You know, despite what you see on this website Korra is actually quite a popular show and it has a very dedicated fandom.
>popular show and it has a very dedicated fandom
Yeah that's very true. People here have demanding standards that include a solid plot but the fact is Korra despite it's writing still has incredible animation that is Disney-level, which is to say the best, that makes it appealing to anybody who cares about that thing from 12 to 70 years old. I've met seniors who love Korra because they love Disney and Korra is basically the only fix for that sort of quality outside a few Japanese or French productions.
are we finally going to see who's the father of toph's kids?
It took over a decade to make action figures of Katara and Toph
