Why did modern filmmakers forget how to make good horror movies, when actual zoomers can make better horror stories from their bedrooms?
Why did modern filmmakers forget how to make good horror movies, when actual zoomers can make better horror stories from their bedrooms?
omg nooo not the purple cat man
>zoomers can make better horror stories
Like?
Gemini and UrbanSpook are both better than any horror film released in the past decade
Post better horror films released after 2013 then
The House October Built is the most scary movie ever made after Inland Empire.
>Le ANALog horror
I too watched Nexpo. I like how they always try to make it sound more profound than it really is. Mind you, it only works if you are giving context beforehand. Maybe it can work as TV series, but how many autists i mean people can keep up with every single detail is beyond me.
tl;dr they're nothing special. Interesting? Yes Creepy? Nah
UrbanSpook is the most moronic thing that has ever gotten praise. The pretension that it's a police document doesn't work when there's shitty tryhard music blasting and just constant typographical errors and nonsensical grammar. The creator can't write for shit, he needs someone to control him. His art, which while alright, is drowned in the shitty writing and it is more of a comedy than horror.
He's obviously an ESL, but I see the series as just a cool framing device to show off his art. I don't really think he intended for it to be more than that either.
That's the problem, the framing device isn't cool. The art could speak for itself if he just had a tardwrangler.
>guy makes art showcase
>puts a horror framework around it for fun
>also tries to be edgy and fricked up like weird Japanese underground horror flicks like Flowers of Flesh and Blood or some shit
He set out eith a clear vision and succeeded
If the framework is shit then it didn't succeed. Are you UrbanSpook himself Mr. Eith?
Why are you such an upset troony? Are you the same guy who keeps going on about "zoomer horror" on Cinemaphile?
Yes there is literally only one autist on this site, you have profiled me and my habits. I am not upset, and you have no argument to defend UrbanSpook's shittiness. The edginess of the framework would work to it's advantage if it was well written, but the edginess loses its stride and believability specifically because the writing is bad. ESL is no excuse here, either the framework works or doesn't. The art loses it's value when attached to such tripe. Dilate.
Wow this is awful. I'm not surprised at all.
>UrbanSpook
>UrbanSpook
just checked it out, it's complete garbage. Pic related lmao. Looks like it's made by a 13yr old for other 13yr olds
Lmao reminds me of crazy bones and garbage pail kids
Its supposed to be a pig, heres some better artwork from urbanslug

zoom horror is always puppets or mascots. it's pretty funny.
they know corporations use them to brainwash kids
>MIllenieals: OMG an NES GAME IS HAUNTED!
Zoomer horror style will not work for a 2 hour film. Their shit only works for 10 minutes and tik toks
Ay! Es El Hombre de Adios!
Why all zoomer horror involves big eyes and teeth?
I suppose cause they grew up on creepypastas that ran that shit to the ground. Also pale long humanoid figures
Wacthu mean? We live in a dystopia. Every movie is unbearable to me now
zoomer horror? like the one about the empty department store? that kind of horror?
Muh Liminal Spaces... Bruh
An exterior door with no weather stripping!? AHHHH! The horror!
THE DRAFTINESS! OH GOD NOT THE POWER BILL!
AAAAAAAH I AM GOING INSAAANE
LAMINATE SPACES AIIIIIIIYEEEEEE
are those.... tiles...?
AAAAAAA I'M GONNA COOOM SAVE ME GATO Black
Conceptually yes, doorways can represent nearly anything given context. A door can be terrifying, but you know you need to be a skilled writer to pull that off. Just pointing out the concept of "space between designated spaces is a space out of place" isn't horror all on it's own. You need to work to that and build that concept in a persons mind.
You sound like my 5th grade English teacher
He must've really sent you to the moon, still remember what he sounded like and everything. You even hear his voice when you read words on a monitor good lord he must have blown that bussy out boy, damn.
I kinda understand it though. Remember that the death of large social areas and stuff like malls is quite recent, so their remains are still around. Millennials have a history with these places and understand that a mall was simply a collection of stores and a cool place to hang out when bored. Zoomers must look at malls like some sort of post apocalyptic society that was destroyed.
written horror will always be the best horror because it plays with your own mind, you scare yourself in a way, movies try too hard and fail miserably in almost all cases
also jumpscares are like fart jokes, people literally laugh after every single one
The other day we was watching the original night of the living dead. I remember having this internal dialogue when i think the couple tried to steal the truck. Or maybe some other scene, but it involved driving the truck... anyway i thought to myself "why don't they just run over the zombies... oh, wait, those are real actors and this is a movie". You can't show everything you want. And modern effects just made everything more sterile. You can't beat the power of imagination
>we was watching
SHEEEEEIT WORD?! Was you?!
All horror relies on you imagining yourself in that situation.
pretty much, seeing things from outside kills any sense of dread or fear
in fact, if anyone lived any setting of any horror movie, it would be scared shitless for being the victim
the tricky part is making people immerse to that point
Radio plays have the same potential.
What I appreciate about zoomer horror is that they drop all the artistic pretense. Gen Xanax horror movies have like half an hour of build-up with characters you don't give a shit about. Millenial movies overdose on mental illness and metaphor. Zoomers get straight to the point, giving you cool monsters, unsettling atmospheres, and bizarre storylines from the get go. Even the most contentious gen Z horror like The Backrooms offer an immediately compelling premise without the need for human dramatization.
That's how tastelets enjoy their kinos
Scream wasn't scary.
Nobody said it was, Black person
What's a movie that made millenials shit their pants out of scaryness?
Blair Witch
Your mother's sextape.
Film hadn't been invented then.
I've never been scared by any horror movie, but I enjoy watching them.
I've never been scared by any gay youtube crap, and those are too annoying to enjoy.
I'm not scared of movies, I'm scared of talking to girls IRL.
Boomer horror: campy
Millennial horror: kino
Zoomer horror: le scary jump scene/ le edgy gore
Millenial here, that alien movie, Signs was it's naame I think made me shart my pants as a kid.
I get sleep paralysis, that's scary. Watching something on a screen is never scary. Actually watching Americans getting played like a fiddle into voting Biden so easily using BLM to discredit Trump was pretty scary.
Scream is kino
Only because they don't have the intelligence to do real story telling. It's a bit like years ago with the lol so randumb. Random only makes sense if it's later explained. Otherwise it's just dogshit that anyone can do.
The real problem with zoomers, aside from their lack of intelligence, is their lack of attention span. They "marathon" TV episodes that are 20 minutes long for example or "ultra-marathon" a movie that's on 90 minutes (unless it's capeshit because the loud noises and colorful imagery can keep them entertained despite the lack of substance).
In short, zoomers need gassed.
Thank you for your time.
That's a lot of words just to say you're bitter about being old
He's not exactly wrong however
Low attention span isn't a trait inherent to zoomers, it's a trait inherent to young people, and has always been. 19 year olds in 1993 didn't wanna watch Citizen Kane either
>Low attention span isn't a trait inherent to zoomers
Lol
Lmao even
Ironic since you didn't have the attention span to read the rest of the post
>19 year olds in 1993 didn't wanna watch Citizen Kane either
Wow it's like attention span has gotten worse each generation. Obviously zoomers ha e lower attention span than any other generation before at the same age. Movies, then tv, then video games, then youtube, then tiktok. They are each subsequently made for lower and lower attention spans.
>le projecting
>cool monsters
yeah I love "photoshopped stock photo of some guy #1034" starring in the 17th video series about how we need to be careful because, in a shocking twist, these weird looking freaks aren't actually people and do in fact they mean us harm
still better than boomerslop "horror" villains.
No it isn't, you moronic gay. And you know it isn't.
DJ Jiggy is the best horror "villain" of all time because you can't nab him for anything. I've met with several lawyers in my time and we've made 0 progress in trying to make a case against him analyzing the films. At most you might maybe give him a fine for littering.
That's what you think, my homie.
This shit is all just as funny-looking as it is scary looking and the only difference in it being regarded as scary or funny is just the context in which it's presented to you. All of these could just work as easily in some moronic mega-ironic meme than they could in le spooky vhs
thank you, boomeranon.
its nice to see something other than people dunking on us for existing.
t. y2k zoomer
>I-IS THAT A VHS FILTER? AIYYEEEEEEEEE SAVE ME CRACKERMAN
the other day I decided to watch The Gremlins, but then I put it off for a while, then I was going to watch it again, then I decided to wait, all day long I was like this, just edging, going right up to the threshold and then backing off again
I've never been so terrified in my life
COME ON IN HEEEEEERE
Great reference
Most movies are made with a check-list from the producers, they need this and this, but not that element in the movie. Not even talking about diversity, it can be any bullshit (if you want an example, check the Kevin Smith Superman movie story about Jon Peters.) Horror movies are a little too by the books. Bedroom creaters can do whatever the frick they want, as long as they have the vision and the means. Terrifier was a breath of fresh air in my opinion. It's exactly that. It's like a long youtube video made by a practical effects artist. Hopefully we're getting a New New Hollywood soon and we're gonna see horror like the 70 and 80s.
Source on pic?
>and the golden machete goes to... girl getting skinned alive in terrifier 2!! zoinks i don't care what universe you're in, that's gotta hurt
>WHAT IN THE HECKIN FAUCI IS THIS!!!???? DID YOU JUST MENTION THE HECKIN' RAPERINOS!!!??? IN YOUR MURDER FANFIC???? O.M.G. ONLY STEPHEN KING IS ALLOWED TO WRITE ABOUT CHILDREN BEING MURDERED BY HAVING A STICK RAMMED UP THEIR ASS!!! THIS IS SO TOTALLY GROSS MY DUDE
the zoomers are putting literal trollfaces in their le epig videotape horror now
mandela catalog was a mistake
Yeah, Mandela Catalogue is garbage
This is Mandela?
no some gay ufo thing
That was meh up until the end which was actually pretty cool. Maybe you're ghey
Analog horror is the gayest shit ever. It's just creepypasta with none of the moronic charm.
So what exactly is analog horror? Just vague spooky things with a VHS filter? That's scary to zoom zooms? Call jumpscares cheap but at least that scares people
I think it has also to do with funny analog synth voices and long winded stories. I dunno man
>thread about modern horror movies
>devolves into morons calling things zoomer or millennial and arguing over basically nothing
Every time
hailey elisabeth is good but can't into english or thinking but its good.
quite a thing
ACTUAL zoomers ong?
I had a horrible nightmare last night.
>stop at gas station for gas
>as I open the door, something darts out of the car
>I realize it's my cat
>she's absolutely terrified by the urban environment, she doesn't even recognize me
>any time I get close she runs away
>just as I finally get her, she bolts out of my arms towards the main road
I woke up and there she was on the foot of my bed fast asleep. I think my heart rate was over 200.
i lost a cat that way. the little fricker somehow nestled its way into the undercarriage of our dad's car and ran off into the neighborhood nearby where we were stopping for gas. shit sucks. hold her tight bro
Sorry to hear that anon.
no prob, this was like 15-16 years ago. we still had his brother cat around until he died in 2019 from old age
Yeah that sounds really stressful. I love that moment of relief when you wake up, though.
zoomer horror is the equivalent of camp fire ghost stories. short, undeveloped, and built around some little stinger or shock ending. theyre unable to put the effort into developing something into a real story with a sense of artistry or craft. like a real horror writer has notebooks filled with little ideas and concepts for stories, of which they realize maybe 1% can be worked into a real quality story, whereas the zoomer will just read all of those little blurbs while dropping in some windows movie maker effects.
KIIIRA QUEEN!
The current hired writer pool is women and pozz brained millenial men
they can't write
despite being an amateur with no credentials, I wanna write better horror than the shit I see today and I hope it can catch on where I get a movie made or gain a cult following, wish me luck bros.
Take a look at Alien Isolation. It's scarier than any of the movies
zoomers can make some good stuff but are so autistic by default that they cant understand specifically what or how a thing is scary in a larger context so it rarely succeeds. i think the backrooms is exemplary of this, theyre supposed to take up the mantle of maintaining civilization and its just endless hallways and rooms and time stretched out but all the while are completely detached from the motivations and state of mind that their predecessors could rely on.
tldr zoomer horror stems from feelings of detachment and fear of the future but theyre too smoothbrained to express it in a meaningful way beyond youtube scp bullshit
film has ALWAYS been controlled by the occult
its all about suggestion and ritualistic symbolism
nothing more nothing less
dude what if an office building but its unfurnished and le dimly lit
Was it a powerplay?
I am glad I still got to expirence some form of normality in my life.
Zoomers only know an insane world. Brown ppl everywhere in formerly white countries, anti-whiteism/feminism/gayism/troonysm, normalisation of degenerates, everyone being connected to the internet all the time everywhere/social media which turns people into narcissistic sociopaths etc.
And movies and video games weren't all shit, filled with leftist propaganda(well at least not so obviously as today)
UrbanSpook was made by an old Newgrounds millenial though.
Watching people about to hurt themselves on gym equipment is the only thing that scares me currently
>Cheshire Cat meets Black person.
What did they mean by this?
newsflash: horror movies were never scary, horror movies are an extension of the traditional horror story which are historically told to children. the only real adult market for horror movies is the US because its the same place where capeshit and "pro" wrestling is popular amongst manchildren.
newsflash: your reflection upon a smooth surface is the true horror
Horror films are seen as a way to make a lot of money with little investment
