Why did she break up with Carmie knowing that he was just having an emotial breakdown over being locked in a freezer slowly dying while his restaurant collapsed around him? Did women have no sympathy!

Didn’t he say something like he needed to break up with her because she was getting in the way of his cooking job?

No, he actually said their relationship was the greatest thing that had happened for him, but that HE and HIS problems were preventing him from just accepting that happiness. That because his job is so stressful and because he's never in a good place mentally, he doesn't know how to be happy, and that he should leave her for her own good.

Of course, she tuned out as soon as Carmy made himself vulnerable and talked about his thoughts and feelings, because women.

They're the same age, and anyway, if she really loved him the way the show implies she does until the finale, she should be understanding.

She's a doctor and she was able to find a work life balance. She doesn't have time for someone self-pitying like Carmy.

She was a nurse of some kind, not a doctor, I think. But still.
          >Oooh Carmy I love you and you're the best thing that ever happened to me and you're my crush since childhood!
          >Oops sorry you feel bad and need love and support, I'm too good for this so, uh, bye loser

Isn't "I'm sorry you feel that way" followed by leaving in tears the appropriate reaction to this?

It's a believable one, but only because women are moronic. The appropriate response, to someone you love saying this while also freezing to death, is to argue the point, that you want the relationship, that you want to try and show him happiness anyway. Go down in flames rather than having a hissy fit like she did.

just because you need a 'i can fix him' gf doesn't mean that everyone else does too

          >projection
We're talking about the characters on the TV show. Carmy needs a person like that, and up until the freezer scene, this chick is shown to be a caring, kind, loving girl that wants to support Carmy and show him he doesn't need to be all-consumed by his work. Her leaving in a hissy fit, while Carmy is having a personal crisis AND FREEZING TO DEATH is completely pathetic, and forced drama from shit writing because she was never shown to be a person who can't understand Carmy's feelings, let alone when he spells it out for her.

Whoever that person is, it has no soul. It has eyes but they might as well be plastic.

          >NNNOOOOOOOOO YOU CAN'T WANT TO BE HAPPY AND ENJOY YOUR RELATIONSHIP... BECAUSE YOU JUST CAN'T, OK??????

Because the writers aren’t very good.

It's not good character development, and it's an anticlimactic asspull. But it's also incredibly realistic as to how women act and react, so it is very good writing. Much moreso than the MPDG shit they had Claire doing in the beginning.

Women should have no rights or thoughts about anything. Cook, make the home, raise the kid and keep the husband happy. It really is as simple as that.

Her having any free time at all makes zero sense and they never really dive into it. That job has just as many hours as being a chef and often worse schedule times yet shes constantly calling him and has time to go to parties. I get they were trying to show that work balance thing but it just doesn't make any sense.

Did you watch the scene? Carmy is the one that broke up with her if anything. He goes on a rant about how he'll never be happy because he can't accept the pain that comes with it and commits himself to be the cold blooded machine that got him this far. Manic pixie indie girl overhears it and is heartbroken by his emotional state so she leaves to not be a source of any more pain.

      >she leaves to not be a source of any more pain.
Carmy literally fawns over her and praises her endlessly right before he decides he doesn't deserve to be happy.
She's seen smiling during that part, but then when he says he can't be happy, she takes it as insult and makes it about HER in the ultimate woman moment.
She leaves because she ignores the fact that Carmy wants happiness but doesn't know how to accept it and feels like he deserves to suffer, because all she heard was "I can't be with you" and then decides to make up a problem that centers around her and not Carmy's gross emotional breakdown. Never mind that he's literally trapped in a freezer and could die.
