Her character is literally an irrational woman. All you have to do is see her hysterical meltdown after the border crossing where she's saying shit that is completely nonsensical. She says "that was fricking illegal!" when they literally defended themselves from armed cartel hitmen. She says they "sprayed bullets everywhere" with no regard for civilian casualties when they showed incredible restraint.
It's really hard to take any other law-based complaints seriously when she's just reaching for anything she can and failing.

Hit the nail on the head. They had permission to be there, and to be there armed - meaning they also had de facto right to self defense (Every nation in the world attests to this). They were deporting a ruthless and disgusting criminal to the US. When she sees with her own eyes the 'racist rhetoric' being truth, she can't handle and reconcile that with her world views - so she shifts the blame and the reason that it happened away from the poor violent mexican gang, onto the law abiding, professional, and restrained military and law enforcement that saved her worthless life.

If this was done up north in Canada, and the gang was a white supremacist group - she would have been executing white civilians by the end of it.

He assraped him. Literally anything else is a massive cope. The theme of the movie is that no matter how bad you think something is, the truth is far, FAR worse. He takes the water jug so that his former colleague and anyone outside that room (and we, the audience) think he's going to waterboard him, but once the torture starts you can see that the jug is sealed and no water is going down the drain. He threatens him with ''What's hell in Yankee Land'' and that is most certainly not waterboarding. You hear a brief struggle, the char being knocked over and then rhythmic grunting. It was assrape.

Ah yes, people are known to very specific rhythmic grunts with no sounds of strikes when being beaten. Like i said, massive cope. ''Hell in Yankee Land'' doesn't refer to some homosexual water torture, it refers to assrape. It feets the theme of the movie too, the truths is unthinkably worse then at first glance, it's so bad people like you have to perform massive mental gymnastics to avoid facing it.
            >NO NO NO YOU SEE HE DID THIS OTHER WATER BASED TORTURE THAT'S THE TWIST
You can keep lying to yourself, but everything, from the shots to the sounds to the themes shows what happened.

Her disbelief, disgust, and rejection of the methods of the CIA and justice system are meant to represent how every average citizen would react and feel, because they don't know any better or understand the necessary grime of the job. It's all grey areas, some darker than others, because the bureaucracy of it all necessitates such measures.

Kate was my favorite character in the movie and I genuinely don't understand why anyone who's not an edgy teen or early 20s zoomer would hate her. >kate is the only character in the film that actually feels like a nuanced human being
She's grossly incompetent when we look at what her role is supposed to be (regional FBI SWAT team leader [which is moronic because she's only been there for 5 years] with five OIS incidents). And her reactions to the situations that she finds herself in are the most unbelievable of the entire cast.

          >Has she even dealt with cartels
Her team (lol) seems to have been primarily focused on reacting to kidnappings perpetrated by the cartels. The incident the movie opens up with is an escalation they hadn't encountered before, but it's still her 5th shooting and she shouldn't be so naïve about the cartels.

I know it's probably a dumb question for the sake of the smoothbrain audience but she literally asks "What is Medellín?"

      >feels like a nuanced human being
She behaved so far from anything a "nuanced human being" would in her shoes. Sure, the glowBlack folk were movie characters for the most part, but Kate managed to be even less realistic than any of them.

I mean, look at the fricking scene where taco is ready to kill her if she doesn't sign. What "nuanced human being" (let alone a fricking woman) would resist that at gun point? It's nonsensical.
