Communication is completely corrupt in this day and age. You could say something loud and clear and someone will still misinterpret what you're saying.

At no point in this page does he act like he didn’t hear him. Are you illiterate?

      >lands on the same roof as him a few feet away without saying a word
      >acts surprised when he heard an “uh”

He said I’m and Superman immediately reacted. For a man who has to train his ears not to hear every fart and breath and voice in the world I imagine if he isn’t checking his corners he’s not hearing random people breathe close by.

The second he heard um he turned.

Why are you being so autistic?

He was distracted thinking about something that was bothering him. Which is the whole point of the comic, if you actually read it.

the same reason he pretends not to hear children being abused all over the world, even though it would be trivial for him to intervene

because he gets off on it

This and Ramadan were arguably the best of the Wizard storytimes, and both died kind of fast.

Other comics show that gotham messes with superman's supersenses somewhat, with the narrow buildings causing weird echos, and the lead in the buildings.

Also, Superman had a lot on his mind.

      Ramadan?

Another anons been storytiming Wizard’s list of their top 100 single-issue comics. This story and Ramadan were both recently storytimed as part if that.

Reminds me of that old Question miniseries where the criminals in metropolis always hold their meetings in bathrooms because Superman would never peep on someone in there but real talk just because he can hear everything does not mean he's listening to everything. Most of it is just background noise to him like a TV running in the next room so yeah people can sneak up on him if they got the skills or he's having an off day. He's Superman not Perfectman.

This one from the mid 2000s. Happened literally right before Infinite Crisis.

Because some shit just went down for Supes and he's not focusing. Hell the fact he's even in Gotham would tell you how distracted he is.
