There is no explanation other than James just wanted the scene because he thought it was cool. The whole movie is riddled with plot holes anyway, like why did the entire crew need to go down to the planet and leave the Sulaco completely empty, where's the logic in that? Imagine the entire crew of a US destroyer going off the ship for a mission, makes no sense

It's a bit of a cop out, but they explain that in Alien Isolation, another crew got there and turned off the signal, but yeah it's a lot of bullshit to accept. Why did the dropship land in a hostile environment with its ramp down? Why didn't they scout the area with drones before proceeding?
They don't have drones. The technology isn't that advanced. Most of the remote stuff has to be done by hand or closely monitored by people. The area was deemed secure. There were no hostiles detected anywhere. They all viewed the mission as a milk run and a waste of time just like most of their previous missions.
They had drones in Prometheus though, mapping the area and that was set decades before
Prometheus was a science and exploration ship. Nostromo is a glorified space truck.

They say it's way out past the alien range and that they sent wildcatters out into the middle of nowhere. The canon answer is that another ship found the Nostromo's flight recorder, also found the derelict on LV-426, shut down the signal, and left to head to a space station in another system when one of its crew got infected.

Literally nothing about that in your clip. Also the wild catters brought two young children with them who are still arguing who is the best at hiding when they reach the ship, so couldn't have been a long drive or they would have been bored out of their minds after a couple of hours.

The Derelict was damaged by volcanic activity sometime between the events of Alien and the colonization of the planet. It was explained in Aliens' script and alluded to in the special edition, where the Derelict has been partially destroyed in a lava flow.

In the real military the "Marines" would be just transported on the ship to their destination, and there would be an entirely separate crew of naval personnell working and operating a large ship like that. Technicians, engineers, pilots, maintenance workers, machinests, etc.

Bishop, I guess. It did strike me as odd there wasn't even a skeleton crew staying aboard to change lightbulbs and swab decks, but I guess anything a squid would do, a computer could do just as well. We see the marines are somewhat more than crayon munchers, given they're supposed to be able to use forklift mechs to load the dropship.

It's such a cop out for the plot to happen, the reactor was fully automated too but they still had workers on LV426 to maintain it just in case. Could have had a throwaway line about how they have androids on board in storage to maintain systems when the crew was away, but they weren't activating for "reasons" which turned out to be burke/the company sabotaging the operation as much as they could

Have you ever watched the movie? They blatantly say to her, her little lifepod drifted through all the core systems and was missed. She is very lucky that a deep salvage ship came across her drifting ship or it would be lost forever. They didn't expect to find anyone alive on-board. She is extremely shocked to hear it was 57 years since that is outrageously long and no expected in any way.
Ripley is not on earth at any point in Aliens. She never went back.

It's kind of funny how Burke and Bishop are both a play on the Ash character from Alien, with Bishop being a red herring. Burke plays the part of the nice guy who tries to come across as if he's always on Ripley's side, but at the end of the day he's a company man-- and a real snake in the grass who only cares about the bottom line. Bishop on the other hand is a soldier and he's loyal to his unit, even if he's a synth. Despite how physiologically similar to Ash he is, he proves himself to be far more human than Burke.

Amateurs think tactics. Pros think logistics. Having the crew hypersleep for 3 weeks means you don't need to stock up on food, water and air for 3 weeks. You need to recycle their waste as well. In addition, a lot can happen in 3 weeks. Someone might get sick or injured. Using hypersleep means they're in peak condition for any mission. The ship can also maneuver at higher Gs because the crew is already unconscious.

it took well over a day in the original movie and it was because it is biomechanical and eats parts of the ship. The new movies just don't give a shit anymore about how long it takes and want to get to the action asap

Maybe I need to re-watch because from what I remember it bursts from his chest and they pretty much immediately get to hunting it down and by then it's already large enough to start capturing the crew and hanging them in the engineering bay from the ceiling. I mean I remember they get the cart to go grab stuff from that room I think before anyone even dies and it's hanging out in the ceiling on some chains.
